Returning from an 80 mile trip from washington DC when I approached a stop light on the highway. Brake pedal went completely to the floor when I tried to engage. Luckily I was able to stop short of hitting car ahead of me. I proceeded through light only to experience the same issue when I pulled off the highway into a convenience store and called my husband. He immediately drove to the dealer and did have brakes at that time. They found oil in the brake line. Had to replace the pump, pipe, booster, cylinder and brake fluid. It was reported to me this has happened numerous times to same model. Why not a recall? very unsafe! my car was out of warranty.

The contact had to apply excessive force to the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the cylinders, valves, hoses, calipers, pads, and brake fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. : the contact stated there was an increased stopping distance at a speed of 15 mph or less. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The vehicle was seen by a dealer.
