Rear brakes faulty no to minimal braking power to the rear bakes as of today stopping distance significantly increased. . . By 20-30 feet . . No check engine light,abs or brake light illuminated . . . Currently there is no reason as to why it should not be working. . . Front brakes work perfectly fine. . Momentary power loss to vital components lost. System power loss event that caused power steering and all wheels to lock up among other things to stop working. Approximate speed at the time was 50mph. . . Engine was still running at the time I was very fortunate for it to happen on a off ramp the two cars behind me were able to stop in time . . . It nearly cause and accident pile up with 2 other cars.

Upon pressing brakes headlights flash, interior light flash, oil gage and rpms fluctuate all over. Stabilitrack sensor comes on. Upon accelerating to about 60-65the car brakes for itself. Doors lock, lights flash. Losing power steering when shifting gears.

At low speeds my brake pedal would get extremely hard to push down causing the car to be difficult to stop. After turning off the vehicle and turning it back on it seemed fine. A few weeks went by with no issues and then it returned when backing out of my driveway. Turned the vehicle off and on and it seemed to be working fine. Another 3 days passes and then brake pedal gets hard and can barely stop the car causing a close collision. The service brake assist light comes on and the brakes are extremely difficult to push to make the car stop. Drove the vehicle home carefully due to needing to step on the brakes extremely hard. Replaced the brake booster and still not working. Replaced the vacuum pump and line to fix the issue. This caused many close calls as the first time I was backing into a parking spot and almost hit the wall. The other times I was driving through a drive through almost hit the car in front of me and driving through a neighborhood towing and almost hit the car in front of me at the stop sign.

My wife was driving and suddenly the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The service brakes light illuminated as did the stability track and brake fault lights. Fortunately she was going slow and was able to maintain control without having a collision. Upon inspection, I found a brake line failure in the frame, due to heavy corrosion. This occurred on a city street in a 30 mph zone.

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the abs brake warning light was illuminating each time the contact pulled into a parking spot or to make a turn. The failure was randomly progressing with no warning. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic), 00v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was to be taken to a dealer for inspection and diagnosis to determine the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not stop as the abs and the service brake warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 208,000. Djr.

Abs brake light would come on when trying to stop then it would not stop correctly and almost ran over curb onto sidewalk. Replaced sensor twice before the light and brakes worked correctly.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact was driving 25 mph and fully depressed the brake pedal but the brakes failed to respond. The contact stated that the brakes were depressed several times before the vehicle eventually responded and stopped. The service brake and abs brake warning lights were illuminated after the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a leak next to the brake reservoir and as a result, the entire brake line needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 60,000.

When I was pull a trailer down to a red lights my brakes went to the floor and had swerve to not hit the cars in front of me I got it on the side of the rood then the brake light cam on it scared the hell out of me my daughter was not with me she is two if some thing happend it wold have devastated me or hurt some one I was pulling a trailer that 1000 tractor.

In the past month I have had to replace brake lnes on my 2002 chevy Tahoe. The vehicle is origionally from michigan and I know things rust there, but this is rediculous! driving down the road and no warning or warning light. The pedal just goes down to the floor without any resistance and when the fluid is out then ond onlyt then does the brake light warning come on. This past time I ended up putting it in a ditch to avoid hitting another vehicle! from all the posts on the internet I see that this is a recurring problem and a definitel safety issue!!! fortunately I have taken defensive driving courses ithrough law enforcement training and had a bit more savy as to how to handle this type of situation. How about the little old lady that has no idea what to do??? now, again for the third time it hqas to go into the shop to replace faulty and corroded brake lines!!! shouldn't something be done if this is such a re-curring problem with gm and the chevy trucks?.

While driving on the NJ garden state parkway vehicle was cutoff by another when brakes were applied a loud hissing was heard brake pedal went to the floor could not stop SUV. Brake light came on and check engine light. Had to swerve out of the way of another car. Upon inspection of brakes the steel line to the back brakes right above the gas tank where you could not see it was rusted out and burst all of the brake fluid emptied out of it covering the bottom of Tahoe. All metal brake lines were heavily rusted and corroded.

Service brake system light came on while driving 25-30 mph checked for possible recalls and found (recall 04004) contact gm directly which stated that my vehicle was not included in this recall and refered to safcar. Gov to file the incident gm stated that recalls are based on information from this website and not directly from the manufacturer.

My brakes failed completely as I was driving home I was only able to stop by going up hill. The brake warning light did not go on until the brakes were failing. We had the car towed to our service station and had to replace the complete brake system.

My daughter was driving my 2002 Tahoe on major highway at rush hour, brake light came on and when she stepped on the brake the second or third time it went right to the floor with 90% of braking ability gone. Was able to avoid collision by pulling to side of highway and slowly stopping. Brake failure caused by rusted out rear brake line and had to have all four lines replaced due to rust.

On the evening of July 13 my wife was driving the Tahoe when the check brake warning light came on. She was able to enter our driveway and stop the vehicle. The next morning I checked the vehicle and there was no resistance on the brake pedal and the pedal went to the floor. Looking under the hood I found the brake fluid reservoir was empty. The mechanic that repaired the vehicle found the rear steel brake line rusted out. The vehicle is only 11 years old and has 116,184 miles and I feel that it is a bit premature for the brake line failure due to rust. I owned two Chevrolet's and a Ford product for over 20 years each and never had a problem with the steel brake lines.

The rear steel hydraulic brake line rusted through and rendered the brakes inoperable. The brake warning light did not come on immediately after the failure. All hydraulic fluid was lost to the rear brakes.

I bought this car at car hop in arlington TX. I was sold it with no brake lights, no hazards, bad tires, bad brakes, one of the back doors will not open, bad battery, bad inspection, no cover for fuel filter, driver side door will not open, keeps dying, spare tire flew off on highway and brakes went out while my kids and I were driving. I am a disabled mother of two and they knew they gave me a bad car. The first I had 5 kids with me and it was a kia Mini van didnt even make it home, they had to come tow it. Then thay gave me this Tahoe. Please help me I have no other car and it scares me and they will not help me. I am paying every month on this vehicale and went all the way to corporate. They sent me to their mehcanic and he even wrote a e-mail describing the condition and still did not care car hop. Please help me!!!!!! god bless.

I had driven to a doctors office and parked in the lot. I came out, started the truck and when I applied the brakes the pedal went all the way to the floor. The brake warning light never came on. I had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The brake line on the passenger side of the vehicle rusted through and failed. I had the entire passenger side line replaced. On June 24th 2013, I had another brake line failure on the drivers side. I was going 40 miles per hour, came to a traffic light that turned yellow, applied the brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor. I went through the light and managed to stop using the lower transmission gears and finally the parking brake. The brake warning light never came on. I had the line repaired at a local garage. The line rusted through near the abs unit. The truck had just over fifty thousand miles at this time.

Approaching intersection attempted to stop for red light, brake pedal went to floor with very diminished braking. Fortunately it was a Saturday evening and there was no car in front of me and none comming through the interesction. Inspection showed rear brake line split afer abs due to excesive rust. Two days later and we would have been on vacation driving in the mountains. The day and time is the only reason the occupants walked away. There was no brake idiot light or message center message to indicate a problem. The brake idiot light does work when the key is turned on.

In 2011 my abs/brake light starting coming on took to dealership was told how much it would cost to repair. In searching online how to fix, I see a recall was given to salt belt states in 2005. I own truck since 2002. Told by GMC today the recall although it states salt belt states recall only affected certain VIN #'s is this correct? first owner lived in salt belt state and truck manufactured in salt belt. I see there are additional GMC products with same problem. Why don't they repair?.

Antilock brake light comes on and want go off. Brakes works fine.

I started to have the brake light and one other light come on while driving. I discovered that there was a recall for this but it was for vehicles in 'snow-belt states'. I bought this car from carmax in charlotte nc which was not on the list for 'snow-belt states'. I have since lost my abs system. I don't know if it is now part of the recall and is my vehicle still eligble?.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the abs and brake lights would intermittently illuminate. When the contact would attempt to stop, the brakes would not engage automatically. She also noticed a buzzing noise when the vehicle was turned on and off, which she stated would drain the battery. The vehicle was taken to a repair facility where the contact was advised that the abs control module was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the contact would have to replace the control module at her expense. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent over the couorse of two years. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000 and the current mileage was 125,528.

Abs brake light on dash stays on. I had all the sensors tested and they are ok. I had the computer tested and it shows a fault. But the abs seems to be working fine. It appears that in order to get this error light to go off I have to spend a $1000 for a computer, even thought he system appears to be working properly. I have had numerous electrical issues with this vehicle since purchase.

Gas gauge had been broken for several years took to the dealership and was told that there have been reported problems with this happening but no recall had been issued after severl years my brother bought a new fuel pump and filter and fixed the problem or at least I hope it is fixed. Abs/ brake light has also been coming on and off I have also taken it to dealership for this problem about a year ago and was told that it is just the sensor not to worry about it brakes will be fine or I could always take out the fuse so light will stay off which I have not done, so far lucky and no failure with brakes working.

While driving on an interstate from new jersey, the abs light activated on my vehicle. I was informed by a mechanic to pull the fuse to prevent the abs pump from being ruined. Upon doing so, the brake failure light activated. My concern was that if an additional problem arouse we would not have any warning. Researching I found gm has a recall for this problem in approximately twenty states, but not in SC. I feel this is an across the board safety problem that should warrant a recall of all vehicles on the recall. This repair is very expensive, and gm should be responsible for the repair regardless of the location of the vehicle. This is a very important safety recall that research shows these faulty abs systems are all over the country, not just in salt belt states.

While traveling to NJ we found the abs pump would not shut off. This occurred on 06-07-06. We contacted a mechanic who advised us to pull the fuse for the abs brakes. I have found that this is a common problem with several gm vehicles. I have a 2001 chevy Tahoe. The control module is bad and will cost over $800. Both the abs and brake warning lights now stay on. If there is a further problem with my brakes I have no way to be warned. Kelsy hayes is the manufacturer and should be made to correct the problem.

Bought a used 2001 Tahoe a year ago. Recently, the abs and brake light would come on and stay on. After reading all the complaints concerning the matter, the dealer diagnosed it as ebcm failure. Repairs would be $1200+. It's an obvious defect with this model and a recall needs to be done and repairs made for free.
