37 Brakes Failed problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 12/07/2015

While driving my chevy Tahoe I experienced complete brake failure luckily I was able to stop the vehicle with the use of the emergency break and I did not have an accident. I had no indication that the breaks were going bad until I lost them completely. I had the vehicle towed to a shop the mechanic told me that two break lines were busted and that the rest were corroded. He told me that he has done 5 chevy break line systems in the last 3 months an apparently this is a know issue with chevy trucks. It seems like the break lines only last a few years before they are corroded and rusted and eventually the break without warning or notice this is unsafe and I think chevy needs to do a recall on this issue. I have never had any break line issues with any other make of vehicle.

40 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

On June 16, 2015, I slowed to get off a highway in maine and immediately noticed that the brakes were not slowing properly. Soon after I heard a clucking noise and thought I ran over something that sounded like metal. I checked but saw nothing, but I noticed that the brakes looked very blue like they had been running hot. A short distance down the road the sound got worse. I contacted a Chevrolet dealer. Fortunately they were able to accommodate me the next morning. I did not use my car for the rest of that day. Upon inspection of the front noise they showed me that the right front wheel was about to fall off and the left front was grinding and ready to fail. The rotors had to be replaced due to the high heat, and bluing was causing chipping off and brake failure. I should mention that this 2009 vehicle only had 48,793 miles on it, at the time of the failure. The best part is that the vehicle had a full inspection one week prior to the failure. So, the end result was that both front wheel hub bearing assemblies had to be replaced, along with the both front rotors, brakes and calibers. The dealer tried to tell me that the calibers were still good, however I had them replaced because they were also overheated. Anyone who knows mechanics should understand that in this situation after running highway speeds, that there would be overheating of the calibers along with rotors and brakes when the wheel hubs are not running smooth. I question why these wheel bearing failed at such low mileage. I take excellent care of my vehicles. On 12/31/2013 at 40,126 miles I had new brakes and rotors installed, and had the brake fluid changed. Still gm doesn't think that they have any responsibility to reimburse me for the calibers, rotors, and brakes that were damaged because of the premature failure of my front wheel hubs.

I found brake tubing failure on rear drivers side. 52 Brakes Failed problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/07/2013

I was driving north on rt 67 in southbury CT. When a deer crossed the street in front of me. I applied the brakes firmly and at first they felt fine, then they just went to the floor. Fortunately the the car slowed from the first application of the brakes since I no brakes after that point. Using the e-brake I inched my way to a safe spot on the side of the road and called a tow truck. The car is currently at a repair shop and I am waiting for an estimate. This incident appears to match many others related to ea11001. As you know, this might have turned out differently under other circumstances. Fortunately in my case, the deer jumped out at the right place at the right time. If the deer did not jump out and the brakes failed later in my trip I might have been on a hill or at a busy intersection where injury and property damage would have been a certainty. I find it remarkable that ea11001 is taking so long to resolve given the seriousness of this issue. Please provide me with any updated information. Thank you.

56 Brakes Failed problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 02/16/2012

Tahoe has 93,000 miles ,not driven that much ,live in maryland -. Not that much salt. Tried to come to a stop ,brake pedal failed-used emerg. Brakes to help stop. Got it home look at the lines complete rust job. All lines will have to be replace. This can't be normal, have 95 Lincoln no problem-88 Ford p/u no problem-93 camaro no problem and a 66 pontiac no problem . Knowing the difficulty of replacing these lines ,gm should have used stainless steel lines. To me a engineering blunder/defect and should be under recall immediately before we have another Toyota problem. Another couple hundred dollars on $35,000 plus vehicle to protect the occupants is not much to ask.

57 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/27/2009

I own a 2009 chevy Tahoe hybrid (purchased in early March of 2009). I was backing out of the garage with my family when I realized the brakes weren't working to slow us out of the driveway. I drove through the subdivision at 15mph and I couldn't get it to stop! in reviewing online, there are several people who have had the identical problem with this failure. The "service brakes" and "service stabilitrak" lights came on. The dealership stated they hadn't heard about this and they've ordered a "control module" to fix it. Many people on the internet have returned the car and others are still dealing with the problem. If gm knows of a brake failure issue and hasn't ordered a recall yet, I just don't understand.

58 Brakes Failed problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/22/2008

The contact owns a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the abs engages when the ground is dry and pulsates very hard when stopping the vehicle. The failure was noticed while driving 10 mph. There were no failures for 18,000 miles. Currently, at 40,500 miles, the failure has recurred. The contact called the manufacturer and they stated that there was no recall for the brake failure. The failure mileage was 40,500. Updated 10/16/08. The dealer replaced the left front hub. Updated 10/17/08.

In February 2004, I purchased a used 2002 Chevrolet. In June 2004 the vehicle's electronic brake control module failed and was replaced by my local Chevrolet dealer. At the time of the repair the vehicle had 52, 000 miles. On February 15, 2007 the same part failed again. The vehicle now has 102,000 miles. The electronic brake control module is a non-wear item. I contacted Chevrolet to inquire about a recall on this item. No recall exist however there have been technical service bulletins issue concerning this item. I was told by Chevrolet and the repair facility that because my vehicle now has more than 100,000 miles I would have to replace the item at my expense.

62 Brakes Failed problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/10/2006

My husband bought off a private party a 1998 Tahoe, for a daughter. She has complained that at less than 10 miles an hour sometimes the brakes will fail. We have had the car checked out but they could not find a reason for the failure. I have her car and have been driving it I see also that at less than 10 miles an hour sometimes the brakes will fail. I called the chevy dealership and they said they have never heard of this --- something is wrong with this vehicles braking system and no one seems to know what it is. Have you heard of this and if so what can I have done to correct this problem before an accident occurs. I am very concerned when I drive this vehicle. I believe my daughter did hit the back of another vehicle when it occurred to her -- I would say approximately 2 years ago.
