Several times we will be driving down the road and it feels like the vehicle is trying to shift into park and the tires lock up. Then it goes into a mode where acceleration is limited.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25-30 mph, a message advising that the transmission fluid was overheating and to pull over was displayed. The contact coasted to the side of the road where, the vehicle became inoperable. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission fluid was burnt, causing the transmission to slip while switching gears. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure was a known issue and to contact the dealer. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to file a vehicle safety complaint. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My 2023 Tahoe with 76,000 miles went into limp mode and activated an engine light. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and had the code p0747 which is pressure control solenoid a is stuck on. The dealership technician is recommending a valve body replacement to repair this problem. This is a known problem by general motors and has extended it to the 2022 models only. This is a safety concern that is causing rough irregular shifting, and a engine light to occur.
I noticed the gears of my Tahoe grinding when I would let off of the gas pedal. Eventually my check engine line came on. I brought it to my chevy dealership. Upon inspection, I was told that my transmission valve body was bad and that I needed a new one. I was then told that my truck was ok to drive. I drove it for roughly another month until the check engine light came on again, and I heard the same sounds (I was able to catch it on video). This time, my truck would not want to accelerate past about 1. 5 rpms. I brought it back to the chevy dealership which is where my truck is today. In hindsight, I believe I should not have been allowed to continue to drive my truck with a bad transmission part.
Check engine light came on. Upon diagnosis', the engine is misfiring, lifters are not performing correctly and there are critical engine alerts and an estimate of 11,000 to fix. 2021 - 83,000 miles v8 - 5. 3 not the 6. 2 and no one will help me bc my power train expires. I am the only owner. Second brand new Tahoe ai bought from this dealership and they are doing nothing to help.

In may 2025, my 2021 chevy Tahoe experienced transmission failure related to the valve body. The vehicle has now been at the dealership (richard Chevrolet in cheshire, CT) for over 2 months with no timeline for repair due to a national backorder on the part. This issue is widely reported among 2021 Tahoes and other gm vehicles, and appears to be a systemic transmission defect. I was never notified of any recall or service bulletin, and I’m still making monthly payments on a vehicle that is inoperable. The rental provided does not suit my family’s needs, and gm has been unable to offer a resolution or clear update. This type of critical drivability failure should be classified as a safety concern, especially considering the volume of similar complaints and the absence of repair parts. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue further and take action if warranted.
2022 Tahoe rst with 5. 3 10 speed. Bought new in sept of 2021. The 2022 we have had problems with shuttering in the drivetrain from very low miles. We have brought it into the dealership atleast 3-4 times before for this issue. This was all while it was still under its 60k drivetrain warranty. Dealership always told us that since there was no check engine light or codes that they can’t fix what is not broke or broke yet. We needed to wait for it to break or light then bring it in. We also received a letter in the mail for the trans recall (program)last year which was preformed. That day after, my wife started to notice it shuttering more than usual and more often. I call the dealership that performed the recall which they said to bring it in. After looking it over. I get a call saying that I should get the transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid changed. It might be the transfer case slipping. Advisor told me that since it was about due for this service. Fast forward to may 9th of this year. My wife was at church. She parked it which it ran fine. Came out about 30-40 mins later put it into drive and wheels where locked up. She called me panicking that something was wrong. Go to her aid which I had to have it towed to the same dealership that serviced it before. Even check it in with the same advisor that helped us before after the recall issue. I should now mention our 22 Tahoe has 68,700 miles. Dealership called us a few days later saying it was the valve body. Especially since we had have problems before with the drivetrain and documented. The vehicle is still inoperable. We are waiting for a valve body with no eta.
Shuttering started with transmission which ultimately lead to the transmission failing at 140,900 miles. Costly repair for a vehicle that was serviced regularly.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed a loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle jerked abnormally. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to operate as intended and the vehicle failed to shift into reverse. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was scheduled to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
My wife drove the 2024 Tahoe with 13,464 miles to florida for a beach trip with the kids. The car stopped working while she was driving. The vehicle flashed and the automatic transmission wasn’t changing gears. She manually shifted the gears until arriving at a safe place. The dealer states it is the transmission valve body that needs replaced. The part is on back order and from what the dealer said being built as needed.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to shake excessively, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
Our 2023 3l diesel Tahoe had 63,000 miles on it and went into limp mode (cel on) in late April 2025. We took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the valve body as the problem. We continued to drive it (as they mentioned it would be months before a replacement part would be in) while I did some research and discovered the magnitude of the problem. Just google it! meanwhile, the rear wheels locked up on me after I had picked up our two children from daycare. It felt like we had a log chain hooked to our hitch that snapped us back - really hard! felt like we had been rear-ended. This could have easily caused us to get in an accident, or worse, but thankfully we were not in heavy traffic. Our dealership was able to provide us a loaner truck. Approx. 50 days later, we were informed that we were approved for a new transmission - which was also on backorder! almost 80 days later, our new transmission has arrived and been installed. We are very disappointed with how gm has handled the issue. We were lucky our dealer provided a loaner, as many have not. There are after-market providers who clearly state the upgrades they've made to the valves bodies, and while gm says they've upgraded the ones they make now, they won't share any details. I'm aware of this same limp mode/rear wheel lock up happening multiple times (on the same vehicle) to people in very low-mileage vehicles (less than 1000 miles). This isn't a small problem, and gm knows it. We will see how far we get with this "new" transmission, but as you could guess, I don't have high hopes! I just pray that no one gets killed.
While driving in traffic the rear wheels suddenly locked up and the tires left skid marks on the road, l was lucky l didn't get hit from behind. L was told by an auto repair shop something inside the transmission failed.

Engine replacement at 13,260 miles due to thrown rods in cylinders 7 and 8 in September 2023. The vehicle is currently at the dealership again at 32,000 miles due to transmission issues. No eta on replacement parts. Up to date on all maintenance and oil changes.
Engine failure - lifters and cam shaft . Also, transmission had previously failed and had to be replaced as well as air conditioner condenser (pin hole leak).
Continue to have suspension issues and continued control issues on my 2017 chevy Tahoe and with having two transmissions fail on this same truck!.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission valve body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
There is an unusual lifter/ticking noise coming from the valve covers on my vehicle. The vehicle is scheduled to go to the Chevrolet dealership on the 15th of this month but it sounds like the numerous other gm motors that have the failing lifters.

I filled my car up with gas and turned it on and it started shaking. Several warnings popped up on the dashboard screen including, service esc, service traction control, and forward collision system unavailable. My cruise control was disabled I had to hold my foot at an angle to keep the speed at 45-50 mph, causing it to take 10 hours for me to get home from austin to dallas. The check engine light was on the entire time and flashed for the last hour to hour and a half. I was unable to pull over at that time because it was dark and I was in the middle of nowhere by myself. The next day I turned my car on. The only thing on was the check engine light, is , however , around 1 pm that day it started doing the same thing. I drove it from my patient's house in allen to galleria Chevrolet in dallas. They told me my battery was too low to run diagnostics and I needed to replace it. So I bought a battery and brought it to them. They replaced the next morning and told me there were no codes showing up so there was nothing wrong with my car and it was a fluke. Exactly one week later the same thing happened to my car. I called the dealership and they hao it toewd to the service dept. After I repeatedly called them to check on the status of my car, they told me it was the fuel injector #1. They then were able to apply for a loaner car for me as I am a hospice nurse. These are same exact issues that the gm 6. 2 l engines are having with the recall they just announced. I have a 5. 3 l engine. I am afraid to put my kids in my car. Please help get gm to take responsibility for this!.
While traveling on the highway one day, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe began warning lights on the dashboard. Shortly after, it running roughly,, and jerking, so I pulled over to investigate. There no visible smoke, so I drove to the nearest auto parts store, where they ran a diagnostic test that returned a code of p0306. I then took vehicle back to the dealership where have always received oil changes and repairs. I have never visited any other dealership, relying on certified gm/Chevrolet dealerships. After inspecting the vehicle, they informed me that the lifters needed replacement advised that it would be best to replace the engine entirely. Upon further research, I discovered that issue has been affecting many people in our area and across the united states. This needs to be addressed, as the vehicle is only three years old, purchased brand new with zero miles, and I have not done anything out of the ordinary to cause this problem. The vehicle being 70,000 and 12. 000 for repairs is insane.
My vehicle has a little over 15000 miles on it. On Thursday April 3rd, while driving 35 mph in town, my rpms shot up to 4 and the vehicle would not respond to accelleration. A few seconds later the engine light appeared. I managed to get the vehicle home going no faster than 42 mph off and on. Upon arriving home I realized I had no reverse in the vehicle. I immediately called the dealership and was told to bring it in. They didn't look at it until the following Monday April 7th when they determined the transmission control module went out. Gm told them they "couldn't find that part anywhere". Thr vehicle still sits behind the dealership and gm has no answers and has already hinted that it may be at least 60 days. This is unacceptable.
The transmission out of no where started to hard shift from 2nd to 3rd gear then making noises. Spoke with a mechanic who specializes in transmission he had 2 other Tahoes same year same problem that are in front of mine to work on.

Brand new 2024 z71 Tahoe at 11,000 miles had transmission failure due to the transmission valve body failing. No previous issues, has never driven long distance, has never towed anything. While in school drop off line was alerted and given an error message on screen stating “reduced acceleration, drive with caution” placing the vehicle in limp mode and check engine light came on.
Vehicle shutters when downshifting/slowing. Most commonly at cruising speeds between 40 and 50 mph, but does occur at lower speeds as well. Vehicle can be felt vibrating/shaking consistently every time it is driven. Was taken into a dealership, was not adequately diagnosed as it was only test driven 1 mile per the paperwork and they could not duplicate the issue and was told they were "in the business of making money to repair vehicles" and this was a warranty repair. While leaving a gentleman was walking in and happened to have the same type of vehicle and asked my husband what we were there for, turns out he was having the same issues. The vehicle shuttered the entire drive home after leaving the dealership and has continued since.
My family and I were returning from vacation from florida to our home state, north carolina, when our new Tahoe with 5700 miles started to act strangely. We hit bad traffic leaving florida so there was plenty of stop and go type maneuvers. At one point, the vehicle turned itself off and put itself in neutral while we were thankfully going a slower speed due to traffic. I was able to get off the shoulder near the [xxx] and restart the car. It ran fine after restart until it started making a clanging type noise from the engine bay. We stopped again and checked temperatures and fluids and the clanging stopped. About 30 minutes later the clanging and a guttural noise began to occur from the engine bay and the transmission would not shift, keeping the vehicle at/around 4,000 rpm at 60mph. We were able to get the vehicle to a nearby rest stop. My wife, 3 children, and I were put in harm’s way due to gm’s faulty product and poor quality control. To have your vehicle shut itself off and/or not shift, especially on the interstate, is incredibly dangerous to the occupants of the vehicle as well as the motoring public. It is important to note that the vehicle never displayed any warning lights of any kind before, during, or after the incidents described. Almost two weeks later, Chevrolet (cooper Chevrolet s. C. ) has not even diagnosed the vehicle. They have told be that they will more than likely have to tear the motor apart to figure out the issue(s), confirming that the problem has been replicated by their technicians. The Tahoe is equipped with a 6. 2l v8, a motor with well documented issues. The Tahoe is currently located at cooper Chevrolet in walterboro north carolina. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Driving on hwy at 75 mph and needed to brake. While decelerating and still moving, engine shut off, dashboard dinged and message said to press start. Vehicle put itself into neutral. Happened twice while driving on highway. Car currently in shop. Gm stating transmission valve body needs to be replaced. Tahoe only has 28k miles. Part is on back order.
Vehicle down shifted hard and dash board lit up. Wouldn’t shift any higher than 4th or 5th gear. Fortunately we were only going about 35mph. If we would have been on the interstate as we had been the 2 previous days on our trip to florida it could have been deadly. Brought the Tahoe to ron anderson GMC Chevrolet in yulee, florida on 3/18/25. The transmission valve body is the problem. As of today 4/11/25 we haven’t heard another word and returned home to michigan 3 weeks ago.
I have a 2021 Tahoe with 68,000 miles on it. On March 14 my transmission started slipping while driving. The rpm would rev up, the car would jerk forward and then the rpm would fall back down. Did this to me 6 times while driving. I got my car home, called the dealership. Went to drive it to the dealership and the car would no longer go in reverse. Had to have the car towed to the dealership.
Transmission is overheating and forcing the truck into limp mode.
While driving down the highway, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple issues. The headlights went out, the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, and all interior lights shut off. The vehicle then shifted into neutral and stalled. There were no warning signs or indicators before this happened. Our safety was at risk as we barely managed to pull the vehicle over to the shoulder, with no working emergency lights. The highway had no street lights, and we were constantly worried about being hit by other cars since our vehicle was nearly invisible without the emergency lights. The malfunction left us stranded more than two hours from home. We had to have the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection, which was also over two hours away. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms—everything happened suddenly without any notice.
Faulty valve body safety was put at risk, I was traveling on a 4 lane road at 45 mph when my vehicle experienced a significant jump in rpm with immediate loss of propulsion. I immediately drove to the dealership as the incident was frightening. The vehicle was also not able to go into reverse. This valve body failure issue has been confirmed by the gm chevy dealership, and gm corporate executive services. My vehicle has been undriveable and at the dealership since 3/4/25. This is a known issue with gm, parts are not available and are back ordered with no eta on when they will be available. Even with a replaced valve body it is likely the vehicle will have future transmission issues &/ additional valve body failure. Please strongly consider a recall related to this known issue and safety concern.
Purchased 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe on 1/15/2025 with 50,647 miles on it. At exactly the 40 day mark, we noticed a problem when the vehicle began downshifting. When slowing down to stop at a red light, we could feel the transmission begin jerking as it shifted down and the check engine light came on. It has been taken back to the dealership (where we bought it), 5 times as of yesterday and they cannot fix the problem. The engine idles rough, downshifting is extremely hard, check engine comes on and off sporadically. The transmission temperature goes up and the dashboard lighting dims intermittently. This vehicle appeared to be in extremely good physical condition with very few miles, that's why it was purchased.
2022 chevy Tahoe with 32,292 miles of in-town and highway driving, never any towing. Perfectly maintained on time. Suddenly started to not respond to acceleration, and jolting, then would not reverse. Transmission valve body has already gone out. Gm acknowledged the problem. States there is a national shortage of this part. There is nothing they know of being done about. Park the vehicle and wait for a part to become available. No eta, but 2,200 of this part have already been requested recently.
