2 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/24/2011

Exhaust manifold on the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext with 4. 2 engine leaks exhaust fumes into the air and into the interior of the vehicle creating an emissions problem as well as a health hazard of driver and passengers of the vehicle breathing the fumes. Replacement parts are near to non existant since there are apparently so many of the vehicles with his problem. I have been looking for a replacement part for 3 weeks and nothing yet. Have been told by parts stores, and dealerships that they do not have them and their distribution centers do not have them either, neither do the online websites. There are no parts available in junk yards either. No options at the moment and vehicle will not pass current state inspection.

4 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/23/2011

The ext. Manifold on my 2004 trl blazer has a leak in the maifold body. The vehicle has approx. 120000 miles on it. This should be a recall item for manufacturing defect, but gm has not as of yet, issued a recall. It is a costly repair, as well as a safety concern, given that the exhaust fumes can enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle. I have owned many gm vehicles overtime, and never seen this before.

6 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

Hello, I'm sure you've heard many complaints of cracked exhaust manifold on GMC SUV's. I have one and have been reading way too many posts online about the same issue. This is caused by what 2 mechanics say is a bad design and cheap parts. For a $30+ truck, this is not acceptable. I have a 2008 Trailblazer lt, with 50k miles. The cost to fix is averaged at around $600-$700!!!!! many have to try and tackle this project on their own since that type of money isn't really just laying around for most people and what happens is broken bolts and then a whole separate issue. Also been problems with O2 sensors because of the leak, seems this problem can lead to many other problems if not fixed immediately. I truly believe that this problem is a factory/manufacturer defect and should be taken care of, at no cost to me or anyone else for that matter. Or I should be reimbursed for money I need to spend toward fixing it since I can't afford to not have it in driving condition. Prompt action to this complaint would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Still a true gm believer!!!! but could really use some help here as many others do.

7 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/18/2010

I own a 2004 Trailblazer ext with the i6 and I've been getting strong smells of exhaust fumes inside the vehicle do to a faulty exhaust manifold that is cracked. It seems that it happens to 90 percent of the Trailblazers with the i6 motor. Come to find out that the exhaust manifold is on national back order which tells me that gm should do something about this seeing that it's hard to drive around with the windows up and the heat on. Not only is it a safety hazard but it's also an emission issue.

9 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/19/2010

Cracked exhaust manifold . Nothing caused this event , it just failed out of nowhere, now it has to be replaced , this is an uncommon event for this particular part to just crack or fail , and after reading researching this event I found it to be more commonplace in this from this particular car manufacturer. The fumes from the exhaust manifold is the safety issue , not to mention the unbearable noise.

15 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Just after purchasing the vehicle on December 29, 2008, I noticed the engine has accelerated and the car surges forward when stopped. If I do not keep my foot on the brake, there is a high potential of surging into the back of a vehicle in front of me. An accident has almost happened many times. I have had it looked at by the dealer I purchased the vehicle from on February 4,2009 and was told there is not a problem. It most likely will "not be a problem" until I rear end someone while stopped. This continues to happen on a regular basis, a year and a half later. I was not aware I had an opportunity to report until the Toyota recall happened. I have been living with it, anticipating the surge every time I am at a stop.

16 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/15/2008

When I bought this vehicle 2 months ago, I thought the gas gauge was empty upon purchase, as it was a used car, but no it is the fuel system problem that everybody keeps mentioning. I fill the vehicle, and it only shows a half tank. Then it will go to empty with the warning light coming on. As someone who travels a lot, and for long distances, this is a horrible defect. The exhaust manifold has become loud, which means another expense on a 2005 which shouldn't be happening.

17 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/11/2008

I own a 2002 chevy Trailblazer. There have been numerous problems dealing with bulbs. The main issue I'm having now is the fan clutch. My engine revs really high when I'm driving. The cost of the repair is well over $900. I believe this should qualify as a recall. I've researched various message boards & find this to be a common problem with Trailblazer owners.

20 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/19/2007

To gm service assistance, our 2002 chevy Trailblazer is at connell Chevrolet in costa mesa, CA having a new engine installed at a cost to us of approximately $7,000. The vehicle has 82,000 miles. We have been without the use of the vehicle since December 19 when it became inoperable going down our street. The only sign of trouble was a massive amount of steam coming out of the exhaust pipe. The heat sensor malfunctioned ($7000 malfunction). There were no warning lights, no bells, no alarms, no indications of any trouble. . . And then. . . Nothing. My husband had the car towed that night to connell Chevrolet. On December 27th we visited connell to get the full story. Apparently the head gasket blew again (see attachment 1), and since the heat sensor wasn't working properly, the engine overheated and blew (again, no sign of any trouble before this incident). Now we are without a car and have a $7,000 repair bill. No one I know has ever heard of two head gaskets going on a vehicle of this age and mileage. The first gasket went at 39,000 and the second at 82,000 miles. . . . Hmmmm. To us that indicates that there is a defect in this vehicle, and we want to know how you are going to assist us.

21 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

22 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/07/2005

I brought this SUV from the dealership and I started having problems with it a month after I brought it. The car air conditioner stop working and the transmission was making a horrible sound. I took the car to the dealer to get fixed three times. All the times I took the car it came back the same way that I took at first. I also took it to a different dealer to get fixed and they also didn't fixed it. I want to cancel this SUV purchase. Mainly because even before t brought the SUV the salesperson at the dealer added $5,000 to my income so I could qualify to get the SUV, but that was completely a lie. Right now I'm having many problems at work; that's the main reason I want to cancel the purchase of this SUV, which is just giving me many problems.

23 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

25 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/05/2002

The rear window of my 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer pops open while driving, even when it is locked. Its been into the dealer (3 different ones) 7 times and Chevrolet has told me that since they can't replicate the problem, there is nothing they can do. The window pops open several times a week. We do drive on a dirt road, but its nothing unusually rough. My wife has started having migraine headaches, and they started a few weeks after we bought this car. We have the opinion of several doctors that say these headaches could be caused by the exhaust that fills the car when the window pops open. I've asked the dealer if they could make the window so it doesn't open at all, but since its a lease, they won't do anything to the car that would affect the value of the car. I also believe this to be a problem because of what could happen when I'm driving down the interstate and the window pops open (which happens very often) and something flies out the window and causes another car to wreck and possibly kills someone. Another problem I have is that sometimes the window unlatches, and we don't realize it. If I park my vehicle somewhere and someone steals the contents of the car, or the car itself. After discussing these issues with the Chevrolet customer service rep (dan) they said they are not responsible for any of these cases. This failure happens about every three days and started about a week after we bought it (around 7/5/2002). We've had 3 other new leased vehicles (1998 Dodge ram, 2000 pontiac grand am, and a 2001 Dodge ram) since moving into our current house and have had absolutely no problems that have been caused by the roads we drive on, or how we drive them. I fear for my safety as well as the safety of others while driving this car, however I don't have a choice since I can't afford to terminate the lease and buy another car. . . . . Please help.
