The service engine light came on. As I was driving home from work at night, the external and internal lights would dim and then return to normal. I later found out that the front lights would completely go out for a brief second or two and then turn back on. When I got home, there was an odd fan/vacuum noise from my engine. The noise was coming from the air filter area. The noise would turn randomly start and stop and run for several minutes. I unhooked my battery, but my battery was completely drained in the morning and the car would not start. I replaced the battery but the check engine light was still on and the noise would randomly start and stop, most noticeably when the vehicle was turned off. I took it to an auto repair shop and was advised the issue is the a. I. R pump relay - in-line6 and the a. I. R system pump - in-line 6. The labor description from the auto service states "check service engine soon light and abnormal noise from engine area. Perform diagnosis fault code p2431 for air injection system. Further testing found system not working at this time. Further testing found air pump relay connector melted shorted. Problem due to internal failure to secondary air injection pump worn needs replaced. I have my vehicle scheduled to fix this issue tomorrow when the repair facility can get the parts in. I was told this was a very common issue with the Trailblazer. The auto repair man also told me that this puts a huge drain on the amperage, thus causing safety issues of the battery draining and the vehicle not starting in potentially dangerous situations. Additionally, with the air pump relay connector melted and shorted out - this is a potential fire hazard. I believe this issue should be covered under recall or warrantee due to the frequency, known issue, and potential hazardous conditions.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet trailerblazer. The contact stated that the service engine light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who stated that the failure code indicated that the thermostat was defective. Within a few days all of the lights on the instrumental panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic and there was no diagnostic code displayed. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle wasn't repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 74,393.
Service engine soon light was on after completing a diagnostic test at a local dealer they said the malfunction was the secondary air injection(air pump) code p0410. They said the reason these go out is because of an engineering defect and the way they routed the hoses instead of air flowing through it causes water to accumulate therefore making the motor in the air pump to go bad. So while changing out this bad air pump there was so much water that had accumulated it actually caused the light to blow which could have caused the mechanic to be electrocuted!.
2002 chevy Trailblazer service engine soon light will come on along with the reduced engine power light and the vehicle will not go faster than 40 mph. Sometimes it will not go more than 20 and 10 mph. I've taken the vehicle to the dealer and they cleaned the throttle and changed some filters and 2 days later. . . . The same lights come on and the engine power is reduced. The dealer doesn't know what the problem is so the vehicle continues to do this and has been doing this for the past 6 months. There was a recall on the control arms in 2001 that affected the 2002 chevy Trailblazer. I purchased my Trailblazer in 2002 so I didn't receive any recall information. My control arms need to be replaced and I want to know why my vehicle isn't covered under the recall.

I purchased a 2003 chevy Trailblazer ext in June,2007. In Jan of 2009 my problem first began. While driving normal speed, the service engine light sometimes comes on immediately followed by the "reduced engine power". When this happens, the car immediately loses power and the vehicles only goes around 10mph. You never know when it is going to happen. It can happen several times in a day or not at all. It is very dangerous when it happens because you can sometimes stop the traffic flow. The light will come off and the vehicle will return to normal speed if you stop the car and then restart it. It happens particularly when it is cold outside. In the morning it can happen 15-20 times before I get to work, and then in the afternoon only once or twice. I have taken it to several auto repair shops and no one seems to be able to fix it. They recommend one thing, I pay for it and then it happens again. I have had my clutch replaced and also the accelerator pedal system. I researched "chevy reduced engine power" on the internet and there are a great amount of pages of people experiencing this same problem. It appears to happen to chevy suvs, in particular the Trailblazer. I don't understand how so many people can experience this same problem and there not be a recall. I have taken it to 2 chevy dealers and they don't even know what to do. I paid $18k for this vehicle in June, 2007 - I put $5k down and still owe about $10k. Chevy needs to recognize this problem and correct it. The vehicle is virtually undrivable and unsafe.

We have had a problem with our service engine light coming on within the past 2 weeks in our 2004 Trailblazer. After getting it diagnosed it is being caused by the fan speed being too high. After doing some research this vehicle has had numerous repairs for the same issue. Why has gm not warranted this!? we have gotten crappy service from the dealership and while our vehicle is out of warranty now it is paid for our we would have gotten rid of it already.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that her engine has been ticking and making whining noises during acceleration, and performing very poorly. The service engine soon light illuminated intermittently. The contact took her vehicle to her local mechanic and they stated that the engine needed to be repaired. She was able to locate a dealer's special policy related to service bulletin number 060603. The dealer and the manufacturer informed her that a diagnostic would be needed to determine the cause of the failure, which would cost approximately $2,800. The contact stated that she takes her vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance as specified by the manufacturer. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 72,000 and current mileage was 75,000.
I own a 2002 Trailblazer that stalled for no apparent reason. I did not understand it because one day it will stall at every single red light or stop sign and then the next day it will be fine. When I start to slow down at a stop sign or such the needle in the rpm gauge goes nuts and the vehicle starts to kind of buck a little and then idles really low or it will rev itself up to about 3000 rpm. So when I get to the stop it just shuts off, no lights come on in the instrument panel or nothing. Most times I just put it in park , turn the key to the off position and then start it back up. Runs normal then, well maybe until the next stop. Only one other time did I go to start it back up and it wouldn't start but only for a second and then it did start. Also, it revved while I wa s just driving normally. It has had numerous other problems so when I took it to the Chevrolet dealer I purchased it from for another problem as well as me telling them about this, they had overnight, said they took it for a drive and nothing happened, which I told them that it doesn't happen every time you stop or every day. They also said since no service engine lights or anything came on they couldn't tell what the problem is when they put it on the diagnostic machine. So I have no clue what to do but to keep driving it and maybe someone will rearend me because it stalls in the middle of the highway. I feel half afraid to drive it anymore.
2003 chevy Trailblazer with 34100 miles service engines light comes on, I take it to the dealer who fixes it and recommend I have the transmission and another regular maintenance completed that cost me over 400. 00 dollars. Two weeks later I have to take it back becasue the speedometer went past 115 miles while sitting still, a week later the transmission starts stalling while going forward and the engine fan is running constantly even on start up. Checked the fluid I had none in the transmission. Yet it was suppose to have been filled when maintenance was done. Took it back to the dealer it is no longer under warranty and just under a hundred miles later my 2003 chevy Trailblazer which is 3 years old. There is a problem with the transmission in the chevy Trailblazer and I am not the only one experiencing this. Something needs to be done. Help.
I have a 03 tb 2wd I have noticed recently that it is not changing gears properly. The service engine light came on and the problem appeared three more times. Then the light went off and the problem went away. I took it to the dealer and they hooked it up to the "machine" and all they could find wrong was my O2 sensor. They said I needed to replace the gas sensor. This has nothing to do with the transmission. (this is what they said) they told me that they were not worried about it. I told them I was about to drive the car on a trip 1,000 miles one way. No problems they said. I called and questioned the dealership and he acted very surprised by this. Says he hasn't seen a "problem" with the transmission. One of my CO-workers daughter also has a Trailblazer and hers has started to act up as well, and guess what it is the same thing as mine. I went on this web site and found out that this is a common problem with the tb. . Read more...
Loud roaring noise - service engine soon light appeared - took it to the dealership - fan clutch needs to be replaced on my 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Have had many of the problems I read on posted complaints: new engine required within nine months-one year of owning new vehicle, inside driver door panel replaced three times, change oil and service engine lights staying on, hood not closing properly, back glass needing replacement, fabric problems in back seat, etc. , etc. And this morning it is a $200 problem with the headlight switch. Too many things to even remember or name, but chevy has a pretty thick file on me and my vehicle.
I received a notice from Chevrolet stating that some 2002 trail blazers may experience a crackling of an engine cylinder bore liner. This will cause engine noise, poor performance, and or stalls with no engine restart. However, they will only repair after the vehicle is damaged. I have 2 children and do not think it is safe to be driving a vehicle that could stall at any time or provide "poor performance". I have experienced many problems with the 2002 Trailblazer - ranging from the vehicle stopping as I'm going 55 mph, the service engine light staying on, I've received 2 recall notices and then this special policy notice. I think the engine should be replaced for the safety of the driver and other drivers on the road.
Upon starting vehicle consumer noticed the service engine soon light illuminated. Consumer stated took to dealer and dealer replaced the gas tank. Please provide any further information. Ts.
While traveling the service engine light illuminated, and vehicle experienced sudden deceleration. Vehicle was taken to a dealer, who could not determine the cause of problem.
