The exhaust manifold in my 2008 chevy Trailblazer has broken now three times. The chevy dealer has changed the manifold twice for free but now they no longer want to pay for it plus I asked if they have made a change to the cast iron manifold and they tell me the part number changed in 2011 but my failures have occurred since then so I know the replacement manifold I will have the same problem. Exhaust fumes in winter enter the cabin.

If gm knows about the exhaust manifolds on these Trailblazers that warp and leak exhaust why are they not fixing them. It's a on going problem.

My 2007 Trailblazer ss has a manifold exhaust leak. The bolts are broken on the left front of the head and back bolt of the head on both sides. We are getting exhaust gas in to the inside of the truck. This could cause carbon monoxide poisoning. To the driver in the vehicle, this is very serious condition.

Was driving and suddenly the exhaust got real loud. Took it to repair facility and they said that the exhaust manifold had cracked. Gm knows this is a bad part , and a safety part, but they only advanced the warranty 20,000 miles. I have never had an exhaust manifold crack on any vehicle, besides one that is 6 years old.

The exhaust manifold has cracked with only 58,000 miles. * js.
With only 55,000 miles, the exhaust manifold cracked. Seeing all of the complaints online and talking to my mechanic, this seems to be a default part. Chevy should be recalling these. My mechanic had to order the part through the dealer and they had the replacement manifold in stock. Exhaust manifolds are not normally stock items unless there is a real high need to replace them. . . . . . .
Exhaust bolts have broken on the exhaust manifold, this vehicle has the v8 engine. Dealer explains that this needs fixed as carbon monoxide could enter the passenger cabin. There was an accident with the vehicle a year ago, I contacted my insurance company to see if it was related to the accident. They claim that it is not related to the accident and that gm vehicles model year 2000 to 2007 with this 5. 3 v8 engine have reported these bolts breaking and informed me to contact gm about reimbursement for repair expenses. I do not have the $2000 for repairs and am concerned about the safey of my family while in the vehicle.

Low beams intermently go off and on ! exhaust manifold is cracked causing a leak ! all dash gauges but fuel gauge dont work !.
Problems with my 2005 chevy Trailblazer started with a series of engine lights, misfiring and stalling at low speeds and upon acceleration. My thermostat has been replaced numerous amount of times . I do preventative maintenance to keep my car in good working condition. I'm a single parent I need my car. My entire dashboard stopped working after getting stuck on and off. The fuel gauge was last to go 3 days ago. I fill up my tank it still reads empty with the light. My tailgate door the latch locks up. I manually have to move to latch so it closes. My doors sticking when the car is unlocked and it hard to get out the locks don't unlatch the first time. My car is very nice until u get in it to see everything is malfunctioning. I guess my speed, gas level and that's not cool. I been going through these same problems since 2011 and it's 2014. The fuel gauge was the last to go recently. When I fill up my tank it still reads empty with the indicator light. My repair was $565 we thought it was exhaust leak and had to replace the entire manifold it was cracked. . . I absolutely can't afford anything else and I need tires. Please help I'm furious. . When you purchase a vehicle you expect it to last. That doesn't. My mechanics have been the same since day one and have given me every discount and warranty . I want my vehicle repaired I can't physically cause this type of damage . It's internal and not my fault. I have never had a car with this temperament . I have had 4 cars previous to this one and they lasted through the years until I decided to change cars. Everyone has the same problems with their vehicle as I do . How is that possible? manufacturers should value quality not quantity. I have every single document to verify this as well as my mechanics. I would like my vehicle repaired and to be reimbursed.
Exhaust manifold exhibits cracks and small holes. Exhaust fumes enter the cabin.

I am the owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 32,000 miles. I purchased the truck new from the dealer. Over the few years that I have owned the vehicle, I have been faced with a multitude of issues. My first problem became the ac lines. They began to leak due to rust, which was not covered under the 7 year, 70,000 mile warranty. Next the exhaust manifold began to leak. The cost was covered under the warranty; however, the dealer managed to break the bolts that hold the manifold to the engine. The breakage was not covered, and therefore, I had to pay. Following these two issues, I noticed rust all over the undercarriage. In the past three years, after my warranty expired, I had to fix the following items due to the rust: the power steering coil, rear end, transmission, fuel pump, power steering lines, power steering pump, rack and pinion, front wheel bearings, and a fuel gage recall from gm. In addition, I avoid using low 4-âwheel drive, because the vehicle gets stuck in that gearing.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for the exhaust manifold crack, the water pump, the evaporator cord, the headlight wiring harness (which melted and caused the light bulb to fail), the hub assembly, the instrument panel cluster, the motor blower resistor wires, and the door locks. The contact also stated that the rear windows would not open or close and the rear hatch lock system and instrument panel cluster failures persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 83,875.
Ticking noise under hood when engine is running. Diagnosed as leaking exhaust manifold. Bolts securing exhaust manifold broken. Repair requires removing cylinder head to remove old bolts. Cost estimated at $2,000 plus. Complaint filed with Chevrolet. Claim initially denied. Continue to ask for assistance. Vehicle is located at trecek chev in portage wisconsin and is available for inspection.
The exhaust manifold on my 2003 chevy Trailblazer ext has cracked at 54000 miles, and must be replaced at a cost of around $400. I contacted gm directly, and was told that this is considered "normal wear and tear. " I disagree. If that is the case, then why would I keep the vehicle, knowing I can anticipate another costly repair within the reasonable life of the vehicle. My local chevy dealers service manager tells me gm is repairing many of these parts on the 4. 2 l. Engine of not only the Trailblazer, but other vehicles as well. A local aftermarket parts store also says his suppliers have many of these parts on hand. More than one might expect if this were an unexpected occurrence. I believe gm knows it has a part that is unsound, but it is unwilling to correct the problem at its expense. An exhaust manifold is not supposed to fail within less than 4 years, and at 54000 miles. That is not "normal wear and tear.
I have had my trail blazer for 1 yr and 1 month. In that time I have had to replace front and back pads and rotors, ball joints, catalytic (sp) converter, and now they just told me I have to replace the head gasket on the manifold. What the hell is going on with this vehicle. I no longer feel safe driving it. The other day the radio just stopped playing and then the service 4 wheel drive light came on.
01/27/04,09/28/05,11/18/05 took vehicle in for service engine soon lights, 04/26/06 took vehicle in for metallic rattle sound suspecting heat shield on exhaust manifold. Dealership stated front backing plates were contacting steering knuckle. 04/21/06 began drive from okc, ok to vanouver, washington, midtrip noted same noise. On trip noise became extremely louder. Stopped at cheyenne wy dealership couldn't get appt for several days. Husband removed heat shield in evanston wy on 8/23 and discovered cracked exhaust manifold. 41000 miles on vehicle. 2 dealerships in evanston wy would not touch us for several days. Contacted gm customer assistance who contacted dealership in slc,ut who would look at vehicle. Drove there but because over 36k, warranty did not cover and they would not fix vehicle under warranty and could not fix same day. Contacted dealership in vancouver wa upon return and they are trying to repair but have now discovered 3 cracked head bolts in addition to cracked manifold. Refusing to cover under warranty even though in for previously. Have admitted to not addressing heat shield at all in April. Extreme stress, inconvenienced and worry on vacation. No eta on repairs. Have requested all parts to be retained for investigation.
On 5 separate occasions, the engine on my 2004 Trailblazer has stalled while in traffic. 1 time, the engine stalled when I applied the brakes; every other time, the engine stalls while at idle. I have taken it into the dealership repeatedly, and they have been unable to duplicate but not fix the problem. They have replaced the manifold pressure valve and cleaned the throttle plates, but the problem still persists.
The manifold cracked on 2002 Trailblazer with 89000 miles on it.
The consumer states that the tail pipe is to sharp on the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The consumer'sson had fell and slid under the truck and cut his leg on the tail pipe. He had 18 stitches in his leg. The consumer has not contacted gm about the design of the tail pipe. The dealership has been contacted , and they told him to look in the back of the owner's manual and call them.
