1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/23/2020

The abs control module is defective and the anti-lock system is not operating correctly. I have had to replace brake pads 3 times in the last two years. I took my van in for brake repair and the service tech (who had worked for Chrysler previously) detected the issue and found the recall affecting the vehicle (NHTSA campaign # 09v351000). Fca has a technical service bulletin out on this issue and this is a recall out for this problem, affecting my make & model year but my VIN number does not apply to the recall. How can this be?.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/28/2016

I bought this auto with 21954 mles on it may 2013 and the rear brakes had just be replaced. Now in Dec 2016 with 80000 miles I have to replace the rotars and brake pads again when they started making a noise. Rear brakes should last a lot longer than this.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/08/2015

While traveling in the midwest, cleveland, ohio, my check engine light came on while driving. I tried waiting a couple of gas tanks to see if it would turn off automatically. It did not. I was scheduled to leave cleveland, ohio and drive back to mobile, alabama with my grandson and daughter the weekend of Dec. 10, 2015, I felt it was prudent to have the van looked at for the check engine light problem. I took the van into washington and lee service on Dec. 8, 2015. They diagnosed the problem as a fouled ignition coil, and replaced the coil, all the spark plugs and a gasket. I retrieved my car on Dec. 10, 2015 in the early afternoon. That same evening, the check engine light came back on, so I returned the van to them. I received a call midafternoon that I needed to take the car to a dealer for service, which is when I found out about the service bulletin regarding the engine. I dropped the car off at deacon¿s Chrysler Jeep in cleveland, ohio on December 10, 2015 and picked it up on December 14, 2015 at approx. 6 pm. This necessitated finding a hotel room for the duration. In addition, I needed to secure transportation. I picked up the car too late to leave that day and had to stay until the morning of Dec. 15, 2015. Upon returning to mobile, alabama, the van began t shudder and shake when braking. This has happened before and our mechanic performed the repairs. My husband decided to check on the NHTSA site to see if there were any other defects in the van that consumers were not notified of. We took the van to the autonation Chrysler Dodge, where we originally purchased the vehicle. The dealer determined that the repair did not fall under the service bulletin. I dispute that, the service bulletin specifically states that the front rotor and pads are part of the problem.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

Premature brake wear - I have owned the car for 2. 5 years ($45,000 miles) and have had to replace all 4 brakes and pads 3 times. This is unsafe and needs to be addressed.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/26/2015

Breaks keeps acting up, clicking all the time really loud, put about 2 new break jobs on it a year, never get fixed, have tried different pads and rotors.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/25/2015

Front brakes grinding . It needs new front pads and rotors at only 16,000 miles.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/02/2015

Grinding coming from rear wheels. Attempted to remove wheel on passenger side 1 lug nut broke. Dealership claimed to attempted to remove by drilling it out, but claimed couldn't because heat had been applied. I never took it anywhere nor applied heat. Took it some where to have taken off. Turns out I had to replaced rear brake pads and rotors. Funny how theres a hub issue on some town and country but not mine. They didn't think the lug nut was a defect. I've never seen one break where the cover of the lug not tears off. Then the sides of the lug break off leaving the base of the lug. After driving the van prior to replacement of parts you could feel the heat coming off of the wheels. Possibly, could that have been the heat that caused the lug not to be able to have been drilled out like the dealership attempted. After several searches of the internet I have seen that I am not the only one unhappy with all of the other issues with this Chrysler product or the dealerships selling them.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

At only 20087 miles had to have rear brake pads replaced and rotors turned poor quality materials must have been used to require this service at this low mileage have had several other vehicles over the years and those brakes lasted atleast 40000 miles.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Was going on a trip with my family in our 2010 Chrysler town and country lx. While driving down the expessway, we had to brake. Well when you try to brake, the pedal goes down to the floor and the steering wheel shakes and you do not stop. When you do stop the tires lock up and skid. This is an ongoing problem with this vehicle. I even tried replacing the brake pads and that didnt help. I have been reading a lot of information online that this is a huge problem with this year, make and model. I would like to know why they havent recalled this vehicle yet!!!.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

My van with 18,000 miles went in for service and I was told that the grind I feel in my brakes of my Chrysler town and country was due to 'warped' rotors. The brake pads were fine, but the rotors warped due to excessive heat created when I use the brakes! I am confused, what are brakes for? I paid to have my rotors cut, only because I need this van to transport young children, it is and has been a problem for years with Chrysler vans that the brakes need to be replace way before the norm. Chrysler should be forced into a recall. The consumer should not have to pay for parts and labor when it is obvious there is a problem here. I would think that 9 times out of 10 a van is purchased because of kids!! shame on Chrysler for allowing our kids to be passengers in vans with faulty parts!.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/26/2014

The brakes and brake disks of our 09 Town & Country need to be replaced every 10k. The dealer knows about this issue, Chrysler has issued a replacement once and the other times we had to argue with them to get it replaced for free (both front and back, brake pads and disks). We are now at 48k and replacing the brakes for the 4th time. We have a other car (yukon xl with 86k and it never had any disks replaced). The people at the dealer feel bad for us and say they see this a lot but there is nothing they can do. I contacted Chrysler but they are not willing to fix it, only to replace it for free one more time. There are a lot of reports about this on the web, and this really warrants a recall on the brakes and fix it for real. The brakes overhead and this warps the disks. This can become very dangerous if not replaced right away.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

Our van makes a grinding or rubbing noise coming from the front end/axles. It is especially noticeable when we are turning. It sounds like a fluttering/grinding of metal or some part that is revolving with the wheels as we drive. We had the brake rotors replaced and pads replaced. That helped with the shimmy we felt while braking, but the rubbing/grinding sounds persist. We are being told it might be wheel bearings. Others have reported similar problem to NHTSA for this model/year t&c Mini van. There is a service notification k19 for this exact problem on some 2008 models. I think our van VIN# should be added to that list of "some 2008 models. ".

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/17/2014

I have 2 problems with this vehicle that Chrysler refuses to respond to with appropriate answers. The 1st one is the front brakes. This has been an issue since the purchase of the vehicle. 4-2010 the rotors always create hot spots then causes the brakes to fail. . There is never any wear on the brake pads just the rotors. There was a letter sent out a couple years ago that they would repair the brakes with either a $50. 00 to $100. 00 deductible. Now , they will not honor that letter. Obviously, there was a problem then for the letter to be sent out, why change it now. I still have the same van and the same problem, only to get worse. The second is the airbags. I was involved in an accident with excessive front end damage as well as totaled the car that was hit by me. The airbags never deployed, fortunately, I was not injured. Chrysler refuses to speak to me about these this issue. That keep telling me that because my auto insurance was involved then they would have to do a subrogation report. This is untrue as per my insurance company. This report only needs to be filled out if the driver or passenger's were injured from the accident. Well since there was no injuries, then there is no need for a report. This incident is a consumers complaint. Chrysler doesn't see it that way. They are trying to find every excuse in the book to not cooperate with my complaints. What is Chrysler waiting for? someone to die if my van is to become into another accident? well, I do not want to wait for that to happen. They need to find the problem and fix it before something bad happens again.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

At 23,430 miles, brake rotors (all 4) excessively out of round. Vehicle shuddered upon braking, especially at highway speeds. All 4 rotors were resurfaced at Chrysler dealer. Again, at 28,630 miles, same vehicle, brake pads down to 15% and had to replace all 4 brake pads and machine all 4 rotors again at same Chrysler dealer. Vehicle shuddered slightly upon braking once again, especially at highway speeds. These incidences are only 4,200 miles and 4 months apart, and $1,000 out of my pocket and not covered by warranty, as are said to be "normal wear and tear. " really? hmmm. . .

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

Noticed an unusual sound coming from lr. Exited vehicle and immediately smelled burning brake pads. Lr wheel too hot to touch. Drove vehicle remaining 1/2 mile home. After only five minutes of internet research I had literally thousands of complaints on this same issue, mostly 2008 to 2012 models. My vehicle has less than 38000 miles on it and more than 50% of those are highway miles. Seems like the sheer volume of complaints would warrant a recall or at the very least a NHTSA investigation. I will certainly tell everyone I know to stay away from Chrysler products altogether.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

Like many others, my car began to shudder when the brakes were applied. This went on for a few months & got worse. I saw the many other complaints on this website of premature brake wear, and brought it to the attention of the dealer when I brought my vehicle in. I knew the finding was going to be warped rotors & that was indeed the case. Yes, they gave me the extended warranty to replace the front brake rotors & pads and only charged the $100 copay. They offered to replace the rear rotors for $300 or resurface for $130. I went with the resurfacing. As with the others, I don't see why warping of the rotors prematurely isn't a defect and a safety hazard!.

17 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

I just had my front break pads and roters replaced. I had them replaced on 2/14/2012. My rear rotors and pads are ok, but need to be replaced soon. I had them replaced less than a year ago. I have searched on the internet this same issue for my year, make and model, and I found hundreds upon hundreds of complaints. Chrysler needs to recall the brake system. . . One should not have to replace the brakes and rotors every year.

18 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

I had to replace the front rotors and pads on a vehicle with only 15000 miles on it. I have been driving for 45 years and have never had a vehicle that had to have this kind of work done. After bringing the t&c in because of front end shimmy when breaking, I was told the rotors were bad/warped. 15000 miles! I was also told that Chrysler has had problems with breaks previously and a recall was performed but it ended on the 2010 and did not cover my t&c; but they would be nice and just charge me $100. 00, because I had the extended warrantee and that was my deductible. This t&c is still under the 3 year 36 mile warrantee but it does not cover rotors or pads. (how convenient) my big concern is that this vehicle has many reported braking issues, even Chrysler acknowledges this. They did have a recall notice but does not cover 2011 t&c's. When will Chrysler step up and fix their brakes?.

19 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/30/2013

Rear brake pads wore out prematurely at 27,201 miles and required replacement. Front brake pads are worn very little (dealer rates brake pad wear from red to green with green the best). Front brakes were rated green while rear pads were rated red. I have never had rear brake pads on a new car require replacement with only 27,000 miles. I suspect there is something defective with the braking system or a component thereof.

20 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/03/2013

My van did not experience a crash. However, the rear rotors and brake pads had to be replaced. This is the first car that I have owned that needed brake replacement under 50,000 miles. Please note my mechanic and the service advisor at the Chrysler dealership where I leased the van both stated the t & c brake system is a significant and frequent problem.

21 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

Im in a repair shop replacing all 4 rotors and all four pads for my town and country brakes. After reading lemon law sides, this is a major problem with these vehicles. Many times, the brakes and rotors are having to be replaced every 10-20 thousand miles. Shame on Chrysler for sticking families with poor and unsafe brakes that must be replaced so often.

22 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/11/2013

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floor board and the vehicle failed to stop. The contact mentioned that the failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the heat capacity was not sufficient for the vehicle and caused the brake pads to overheat when the contact was driving downhill. As a result, the technician recommended replacing part of the braking system with ceramic braking parts. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25,465 and the current mileage was 35,000.

23 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/09/2013

At the time of incident was driving on a freeway were some vibrations when I pressed the brakes from 60-65 mph. While I exit and to check out I felt some pulsation on the brake pedals in about 10-15 mph. I brought the minivan at the dealer and they said front rotors are warped and brake pads are not usable. They replaced the front rotors and the pads as part of they extended warranty. I think Chrysler knew that's there's issue that's why they extend the warranty. They tested and after that they said there's pulsation and found out that my rear rotors were bad as well and needed machining to my expense @$300 because the extended warranty is only for front brakes. After about 4,000 miles during the regular oil they recommended me that on next visit I have to change my rear brakes as well to my expense. I think this issue has not been fixed. We drive as normal, we dont drag brakes but within 15,000 miles I think premature brake wear on both sides is not normal. This is a safety concern. I do not trust this issue this should be a safety concern. Chrysler do not give me a definite answer, they just said it's normal and how we drive. Also transmission have hesitations on some uphill freeways and shudders when backing up.

24 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Began to experience a loud, frequently occurring squeak and squeals associated with the rear brakes while car was moving. Would appear randomly at anytime or any speed and would last for hours or days. Have had problem over one year. A slight touch of the brake pedal would cause noise to immediately cease. Had dealer remove rear wheels on two different occasions over the last year and they reported no problem observed. Issue never went away. In for oil change today and told dealer to look at rear wheels and brakes again. . . . . . . They told me rear brakes were metal to metal and completely worn down and want $450. 00 to turn rotors and replace brake pads. Car has 23,500 miles of normal driving. To me, this is quite out of the ordinary and clearly there is a manufacturing error here. It's crazy to expect $450. 00 every 23 k miles to repair rear brakes on a practically new car that I bought new and have owned for only 2 years ! have seen a litany of similar complaints-----is there any recourse ?.

25 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

In November of 2012, with approximately 31000 miles on my van, I had to replace front and back brakes and rotors, January 2013, replaced brakes and rotors again with approximately 33000 miles, may of 2013 replaced brakes and rotors a third time with approximately 35000 miles on vehicle, now with almost 41000 miles my brakes and rotors need replacing a fourth time. Four times in about 10000 miles is absurd, I have replaced the brakes and rotors with the correct pads and rotors from autozone, since I am trying to maintain my vehicle on a budget, called Chrysler to file a complaint and was told unless I go to a dealer to adress the problem, there is nothing they can or will do, I paid 94000 dollars for 3 2011 town and country vans, the other two vans have not gone through brakes or rotors like the one I drive daily, there has been no recall, or service bulletin issued, I have read hundreds and hundreds of complaints about the braking systems in the redesigned Chrysler and Dodge vans, to me and all the other people who are having this issue, it I a serious one for us, we have all paid good money for our vehicles, just to have the vehicle nickle and dime us like an old used car, Chrysler and Dodge need to address these issues, like myself, people are on budgets, and most cant afford to keep replacing the same part over and over and over again, please do something, it is a safety issue, who knows why the brakes are getting used up so quickly, or when or if they will completely fail and cause serious injuries or fatalities.

26 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/03/2012

We noticed when coming off of the freeway a pulsating/rumbling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Took it to the dealer and they told us the breaks were worn and needed to be replaced sometime soon. Our van now has 34,000 mi and our rear breaks are now metal to metal. Going to need pads and rotors. Never heard of breaks going out with that few miles. Dealer says that is normal. My other car has 240k on the original rear breaks. Whats wrong Chrysler????.

27 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

We have had to replace all 4 brake pads and rotors at 20,000 miles. Now, at 33,000 miles the rear pads and rotors have to be replaced again! yet all I've read is that Chrysler is only paying $100 of the cost and only on the front brakes. There are a myriad of complaints of this very problem all over the internet. Isn't there something NHTSA can do to force Chrysler to back their defective product?.

28 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

Pulsating brakes due to warped rotors. Dealer replaced front pads and rotors twice, also replaced rear rotors. Vehicle now has 55,374 miles and I just had fourth set of front pads and rotors installed. Rear brakes are on third set of pads.

29 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/27/2012

We have been having problems from day one with our Chrysler town and country. We purchased it with 12,000 miles on it, and have had to had the brake pads and rotors changed out twice. We have been told the vehicle will never stop squeaking. We have taken it in for pads to be replaced, and yet it still continues to squeak. At the beginning of summer, my husband had the oil changed, and asked for the guy to look at the brakes, he said we had plenty of 'thickness' on them. I was out with my children just a few months later, and very few miles later, to find my brakes had difficulty stopping the vehicle. I wasn't able to fully stop at a street light and ended up running the red with my car hanging completely over the line. I had 3 children in the vehicle and was lucky that no one was hurt. On a separate occasion months prior, I was again with my children in the vehicle, and found the vehicle completely stopped running while I was driving 65 miles per hour on a busy street in mid commuter traffic. The car completely just shut off. I was thankfully in the right hand lane and able to pull to the side with the aid of the brakes. After pulling out the key and putting it back in, I was able to restart the vehicle. I took it in and the mechanic said they were unable to replicate the problem. Looking on blogs, it appears this has happened on numerous other occasions for other people. This car has proven on two occasions that it can have fatal consequences if left untreated. Fixing the brakes and stalling issues isn't going to help, because the problems come with no warning. I had no idea that my brakes even needed to be replaced because we were told they were okay only soon to find out they weren't. This all happened because of the permanent squeak. I am terribly concerned for the safety of my family. ## VIN failed ## Chrysler town and country 2008 ##.

30 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

When my vehicle had about 16000 miles on it, I noticed that when breaking during highway speeds, the vehicle would vibrate. I took the vehicle to my dealer at about 17000 miles and was informed the issue was caused by warped rotors. The brake pads were fine, but the rotors would need to be machined or replaced. I opened a ticket with Chrysler since the brakes were out of warranty at 12000 miles. The agreed to cover the repair. I asked for new rotors, but was informed that they were on a 4 month back order. I had hem machined instead, though I knew I would be back in the same boat soon. On 12-19-12, four months later with 6000 more miles, I took the van back into the dealer with the same vibrating issue, and was again informed that my rotors were warped. The brakes were fine with 7/32 left on them. The rotors would need to be replaced this time. At 23000 miles, this would be the 2nd rotor issue. I was informed the repair would cost $248, but Chrysler would split it with me, with my part down to $124. The service mgr stated he felt the rotors weren't made well. The tech told me this keeps happening, and the Chrysler rep informed me the new rotors were different, so I shouldn't have this issue again. In my mind, this is the definition of a defect. I do no think I should have to pay anything to fix a defect. Some 2011 town and country vans have been granted an extended warranty on the breaks, but mine is not covered. I was actually told by the Chrysler rep that it would be a good idea to post this with the NHTSA in the hopes of triggering a recall. I plan on getting the rotors next week, as they are on special order, because they aren't available locally. In 18 years of driving, I have never replaced rotors before 60,000 miles. Thank you for your time.

31 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Front and rear disc brakes seem to be undersized for the weight of the vehicle. Have replaced brake pads and rotors multiple times and can't get more than approximately 10,000 miles out of them. Even new, on relatively short road trips, the brakes get extremely hot and start to fade and cause the vehicle to shudder when braking. The brakes get so hot, they've destroyed the chrome cladding on the alloy wheels. Contacted Chrysler and their only recommendation was to install "high performance" brake pads. I have tried different pads to no avail. I currently have vented, drilled and slotted rotors which seems to help but still doesn't solve the problem. The 2010 vehicle is equipped with 12" rotors while the newer vehicles of the same size and weight are equipped with 13" rotors. When asked, Chrysler said they did not have a brake retrofit for the older vans to install larger brakes.

32 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/27/2012

The front rotors and brake pads have replaced twice on the vehicle. The back rotors and pads have been replaced once and resurfaced once. I now have 29000 on the vehicle and will be bringing in the vehicle again because of the same vibration in the brake pedal when the brakes are applied.

33 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

Have had t&c 2010 van for 2 years - our 11th Chrysler product and our 3rd Chrysler van. How many complaints does it take on this site before Chrysler is aware of a problem with rear brakes & rotors? I have registered a complaint with them - less than 39,000 miles for metal on metal - replacement of pads & rotors - not able to even turn the rotors they were that bad. Chrysler's answer? sorry we can't reimburse you - I wasn't looking for $$ - I was looking for an answer as to why this happened & what is to prevent it from happening in another 20k or 30k? I asked for someone higher up - she said she was the case mgr. I asked for the ceo's name - she couldn't give it out - seriously? I said I'd get it on line. We have a 2005 sebring that just had its first set of front & rear pads and rotors at 105,000 miles - same driving conditions - country roads and an occasional trip to chicago. So why is this happening to our van? there is a problem but Chrysler won't admit it is using cheap parts. Does it only concern them when there is an injury or death? is this not a safety issue if the brakes fail? I don't blame the dealer - they are the stooges and do what Chrysler tells them. And now they are discontinuing the Town & Country and will only have the grand caravan - why is that? let's hope they put better brake systems on them from here on out. Is there anyway we can all band together and get some answers????? we don't have $400 to keep shelling out - while we are trying to pay off this van. But I see we are lucky compared to other folks with problems even sooner. This is a disgrace and Chrysler should own up to a serious problem.

34 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact was driving at an unknown speed when the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the detent package was replaced and the power train control was reprogrammed. The failure recurred several times. Later, while the contact attempted to brake, the vehicle responded slowly and the brake pedal was depressed into the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to dealer where the front brake pads and rotors were inspected and replaced. The front and rear brakes were found to be worn and warped. The manufacturer was made aware of failure however no further assistance was provided. The current mileage was 29,800 and the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

35 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Brake rotors and pads fail prematurly on 2010 Chrysler town and country. The van currently has 51,000 miles and is on it thrid set of rotors and pads---this van should be recalled before someone is injured or killed due to brake failure. Too many complaints already filed for this not to be an recall issue.
