The vehicle randomly loses all power, which means no power steering and no brakes. It happens randomly and after searching online it appears others have the same issue faced back to the wireless ignition node being faulty. However the previous recall doesn't cover the vehicle I have which is experiencing the exact same symptoms. My wife has already had a close call as she is unable to steer the vehicle without power steering and the brakes don't work at all.

I have an abs module for my 2008 Chrysler town and country van that has gone bad. All of the warning lights came on for the brake system (abs, brake, esp/bas, traction). I took it to my local garage and they said that it was a bad abs module and only the dealer could replace it because it needed to be re-programed. I took it to the dealer who also did a diagnostic and said that it was bad and needed to be replaced. But the part has been discontinued and they cannot find the part any where else. No other dealer has them. This sounds like a safety concern to me. The car does not have abs and cannot be fixed. Can you do anything to force Chrysler to start making this part. It is not safe to drive on slippery roads and will lead to accidents and possibly deaths. Please help. Thank you, garrett.

I have a 2012 Chrysler town and country van. In 2021 I had brake calipers replaced on the rear end because they were leaking brake fluid. Again this year same problem. What is going on with brake systems on todays cars? I do not think this is normal wear. How often are consumers dealing with brake problems? are manufacturers using poorly made parts? I think this needs to be investigated.

Vehicle is a 2011 Chrysler town country touring l and has 68,000 miles on it. It is well maintained with no issues prior to compliant incident. While normal driving of vehicle emergency dash light system activated numerous safety warning lights I. E. : abs, esc, engine light. My wife was travelling on a highway at 68 mph. Loss of drivability noted at the time included; loss of speedometer, abnormal shifting of transmission, loss of abs and traction control, cruise control and seat belt notification. The following day, I took the vehicle to repair dealership where I was notified that there was numerous codes showing up on scanner. Pcm codes included; c2200 internal fault of abs module, u1110, u1120, p0501. Advised that I would lose numerous other systems not noted due to codes these included; electric rear doors inoperable while vehicle started, seat belt alarm system, rear parking system notification. Dealership advises that Chrysler company has put the sale of abs modules part # 68089474aa on hold for over the last year, due to an engineering review, and that no modules are available for sale. It was recommend that I "get rid of the vehicle". In doing internet searches this is a long running problem with numerous vehicles using this same abs module system. Due to the numerous safety systems this affects, the vehicles are unsafe without a recall to correct this manufacturer defective abs brake module. I have had to setup an auxiliary gps module to calculate speed and severely limit driving this vehicle during inclement weather. As of now normal braking remains unaffected but there. Public is at the mercy of the manufacturer as abs modules are not for sale and have a retail value of over $1300. 00 + install and dealer reprogramming. This is a severe safety issue and aligns with other current recalls of similar models with the same condition. You may contact me at anytime to discuss. I am a recently retire chief of police and a certified accident homicide investigator.
Car shakes and stalls when coming to a stop. No lights on the dash. Took it to a dealer and found it is the sensors in the transmission. These should not break on a van that has under 100,000 miles.
My check engine light is on and I get a squeaky noise when driving.

The abs light, traction light, and brake light all come on and simultaneously. I've been told that the abs module is bad and needs to be replaced. The fact that the module needs to be replaced concerns me since there are prior recalls for abs module with other Dodge, ram, and chrsyler makes and models.
While driving the car stalls at speed and all electrical components stop functioning. This causes failure to the power steering, power brakes and all components that permit driving the vehicle. Has happened numerous times with no codes shown on the dash. Fuel was adequate and no apparent defects. Taken to mechanic and there are no codes to check and commonly the engine will start up after a while and appear to have no problems. This is very dangerous as the car can stall at any speed.

We have had multiple times when we are driving, and our vehicle shuts off and we lose power steering and power brakes. When the van does come to a stop, we are able to restart it and continue on. There is no warning that the van is going to shut off, it just does it. This is our family vehicle. I have found multiple forms online with customers complaining of the same issue with no positive results from the dealerships.
While driving at 70 mph on the highway on 8/13/23, the car electrical system failed. Power steering immediately failed. Brakes unresponsive. Lost control and almost veering into a semi beside us. Coasted and lane changed with no means to signal to others. Once we coasted to a near stop car was put into park without ability to press on break. After 3 min, attempted to start car again and it was responsive again.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. Additionally, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving uphill on a very narrow street. The contact was able to shift the vehicle into park, while using both feet to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle was stopped, and the contact turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that her four-year-old granddaughter was a passenger in the vehicle and the situation was very scary. The contact waited for several minutes, before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times and the vehicle had been taken to an independent mechanic several times; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
Air conditioning condensation leaking below dashboard and onto carpet, causing electrical shorts in air bag and anti-lock brake (abs). Chrysler identified this issue and issued a recall (k25) in January 2011, but only for vehicles manufactured through December 3, 2008. In consultation with Chrysler and according to its own internal documentation, my vehicle (manufactured in February 2009) has the same defective parts and is prone to the same safety issues caused by condensation leaking into critical electronic safety components, but they refuse to remedy the safety issue "due to it not being subject to the recall" -- despite Chrysler personnel conceding that my February-2009 was manufactured with the same, identical, flawed parts as those 2008 and earlier 2009 models that are subject to recall k25.

In two separate incidents on 5/4/23 and 5/5/23, while driving, the vehicle has stalled without warning. The engine completely shut off. Power steering and breaks stopped functioning properly making it very difficult to pullover and stop. Once pulled over, had to place the vehicle in park, completely turn off the electrical and restart the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages appeared before or after the incident. The vehicle has been displaying some issues starting recently, especially when using the push button. However, we have always been able to get it to start by inserting the key. This is an incredibly dangerous situation for the driver and any occupants as it has happened without warning while driving on highways which could very easily result in an accident if unable to pullover safely or stop if the breaks are not working. The vehicle has not yet been inspected, but we plan to get it inspected as soon as possible.
Vehicle has stalled numerous times while operating at high rates of speed 60+ mph in most cases. No prior warning or indication of stalling until vehicle no longer accelerates and then seconds later loses power steering. Usually I can get to the side of the road and pull out of traffic. However last night was not the case. I stalled in a construction zone, with concrete barriers on both sides. I pulled over as far as I could and was nearly hit multiple times by semis and other vehicles. I had my 4 children in the car with me and they are traumatized now. They were bawling because they thought they were going to get hit. We had a sheriff call for a tow truck which was not free. We were left stranded in the dark, in the cold, for an hour just this incident. It once was an issue that only happened occasionally. It happened 6 times this past week while I was out of state for holidays. This is my only means of transportation and having a newborn I have to be able to get around safely. I will state again no warning prior, and no engine light after to diagnose the issue. Myself and my 4 children could have lost our lives last night. The officers who stopped could have lost their lives the passerby could have lost their lives. This vehicle is a death trap. They need to recall all of them to locate the real problem before tragedy strikes. I wouldn’t even give this vehicle away that’s how unsafe it is.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while merging at an undisclosed speed, he attempted to slow the vehicle by applying the brakes, which failed to slow the vehicle rapidly enough to avoid a collision. As a result, the contact collided with the vehicle in front of him. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified, but a case was not opened; the contact stated that he informed the manufacturer of intermittent brake failure as he had experienced similar events on undisclosed dates. The failure mileage was 52,000.
Abs/tcs/ebp/esp warning lights all illuminate during system check at 8mph. Diagnostic code c2200 - internal module fault. Ongoing issue. Appears to be ambient temperature related. Internet+forum searchs find this exact condition very common on 2008 model Chrysler minivan. Requires abs controller replacement with has been discontinued by mopar. 2008 was the only model year to utilize this particular part number. 68030939aa. Superseded by 68030939ab.
Van engine dies while driving. Has happened four times at high rate of speed— once on the expressway going 65 mph. Dash lights come on when driving and engine dies. Power steering and brakes go out. No codes. I coast to a stop on side of road. When trying to restart, van will have power, but will not turn over. After about 45-60 minutes, starts and runs normally. Could not replicate problem at auto repair shop. Had it towed first time. Three times since it restarted after sitting an hour. Almost was rear-ended on expressway overpass the last time it died. Children were in the car. Also died in the rain at dusk on county highway. Unsafe location. No warning prior to the failure. Also happened to another driver. First event may 2022. Again June 2022. Again July 2022. Again September 2022.
My town and country will shut off while driving, this is very concerning to me I have 4 children with me at all times. I can be going 10 miles down the road and it will shut off atleast 5 times. I live in the mountains so getting it out of the road is an challenge at most times. The other day I was going thru a green light and it shut off. Luckily it had just enough roll to get it out of the intersection and kinda off the interstate. It just does it no warning at all shuts off I loose breaks steering everything! it is very dangerous!!!.
Vehicle has shut off, while driving, multiple times over the past year and a half. The first instance was summer 2021. Coming to a stop from a highway exit ramp and the van shut off for no reason. I was eventually able to restart and drive within a few minutes. A few days later, the van would shut down, or try to shut down, every time I would slow to a stop during a 2 hour trip. A few months ago, while driving approximately 35 mph, the van dashboard lights shut off, windshield wipers turned on and all other lights and power steering / brakes shut down temporarily. Luckily we were driving in a straight line because I had no power brakes or steering at that moment. Most recent issue occurred 8/27/2022. Driving van on highway, shut off at a light at bottom of exit ramp. We do not feel safe driving this van.
Chrysler aka fca has recently recalled tpms sensors of 2022 vehicles but has not recalled the 2009 town and country tpms systems. I bought my 2009 town and country new and bought the maxicare bumper to bumper lifetime no deductible warranty for it. It now has 180,000 miles on it. I've complained to the local dealer on numerous occasions about the tpms giving false warnings. They have changed components for several years, but the problem has never been resolved. I've given them numerous videos of the false warnings as they happened. They have been unable to resolve the problem even after consulting Chrysler "experts" by setting up star claims with Chrysler corporation. This is a safety issue. The false audible and dash light warnings take place driving on expressways. The light stays lit for many miles. Then the system resets and the same thing can happen the same day or days or weeks later. The last date was 8/4/22. Attached photos are frames from the 8/4/22 videos I made showing 264. 7 trip miles alarm with two normal and two flat tires, 265. 4 trip miles all 4 tires flat, 299. 2 trip miles all 4 tires still flat, 341. 8 trip miles normal display with normal tire pressures shown in all 4 tires after system reset itself.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled, and failed to respond as intended upon depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart for approximately 45 minutes. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact stated that on one occasion, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, the failure could not be duplicated. No further information was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
At random times, the ignition will shut down while driving, causing the power steering and power brakes to lose function. The only way to correct this is to shift gear into neutral and restart the engine. This has occurred while driving in town and on the highway without any warning or warning lights on the dashboard. This could result in a crash and harm to passengers due to not having control over steering and brakes while the vehicle is in motion. This problem has occurred multiple times in the past year or so. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic, but was unable to identify the issue and it would not replicate. I researched the vehicle symptoms, and found a recall from 2015 that related to the same issues (TSB# r03, win modual fobik replacement). All additional keys and keychain/fob were removed from the ignition key to see if this would help. Since the issue was still happening, it was then taken to a chrystler dealership, where again the diagnostics did not reveal the issue and they were unable to replicate the problem. Multiple attempts made to discuss this issue with chrystler without any assistance in finding a solution thus far. This vehicle is normally driven daily as a family car and regularly transports children. This is a huge safety concern and issue that needs to be addressed and fixed, as the vehicle is unsafe to drive at this point and the potential liability is great.
2012 Chrysler town&country my 2012 town and country has randomly stopped on me three times in April and may of 2022. The car shuts off completely for no apparent reason. The car will not start again until put into park. This was unsafe because I had no control of the car until it rolled to a stop. Fortunately, each time the hazard lights responded and cars behind me went around. The very scary part was not knowing if I would run into the car ahead of me as neither brakes nor steering worked. I took it to my dealership and told them the problem. They said they discovered there was faulty wiring and repaired it at the cost of just nearly $700. I picked up the car. I drove it for under an hour and it stopped in the middle of a busy street. I took the car back to the dealership. They kept it for two weeks and finally said they made it do the event again. They then proceeded to try to diagnose it. After a week or so they called to say they thought they had diagnosed the problem. However they could not get the part that they thought needed to be replaced. None seemed to be available. The dealership then called to say that they had found two parts but only one was available. I was informed that they weren’t sure they could get the part at all. (the cost for parts and labor will be $1000. ) my car has now been in the dealership for almost a month. They tell me that they have no idea when the car will be fixed. I was also informed that even if they put this part in the car they cannot guarantee me the car will be safe to drive. I will not have any confidence in this car again. I will find it a financial hardship to purchase a new car right now. This however is the only choice open to me now in order to feel safe in a car again. 2022,dlr.

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that he had received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 20v396000(air bags). The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where they were able to replace the air bag but not the emblem. The contact then moved to iowa where he had the emblem replaced at kriegers Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram(3205 us-61, muscatine, IA 52761) under the same recall. After the emblem was replaced, the air bag warning light would intermittently appear on the instrument panel. He also stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes would engage independently as both the abs and traction control warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him that the cause of the failure was a result of a faulty air bag replacement. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was given an appointment for a diagnostic. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
My wife had just gotten on the interstate and had accelerated to ~75 mph. Then without warning, the steering system locked up making it hard to navigate. Both the gas pedal and breaking system went off line as well. Luckily, there wasn't any vehicles in the immediate vicinity. She was able to allow the vehicle to coast to a stop as she wrestled with the steering wheel to try and get the vehicle to the side of the road. As the vehicle was slowing down (to around 25 mph), the speedometer indicated that she was at 100+ mph. This could have been devastating in most situation. Just prior to getting on the interstate, she was on a one lane road with 18-wheelers passing by her head-on. What if this was to occur if she was approach a cross walk with pedestrians crossing, or other vehicles (to include motorcycles), she would not have been able to stop. When she finally made it over to the side and the vehicle had stopped. She turned the vehicle off and everything was fine again, like nothing ever happened. This is our first and hopefully last occurrence. But looking online, this is nowhere near being close to the first occurrence of this type. . Read more...

The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to local dealer, but was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
While traveling at highway speed 65 mph when the engine and electrical went off without warning, causing all lights, in and out to go off, power steering to be lost and I'm sure power brakes to be compromised. Was able to put vehicle in neutral and restart the engine while coasting. This did happen at night leaving the vehicle without lights while it is coasting and loosing speed on a busy freeway. This has happened a few times previously but this is the first time on the freeway.

Going about 30 mph with no warning, the traction control light came on it beeped and the car stalled the power steering died as did the brakes. I tried to stop the car and the abs kicked in but not fully. I was able to yank the steering wheel enough to round a corner avoid another vehicle and get to a safe place to stop. I restarted the car and it was as if nothing occurred. I believe there is a serious flaw in the computer system and an upgrade is needed!!! I used and obd ii reader and there were no codes that came up. The car only has 89,000 miles on it. This is a serious safety concern. If I had stalled on a highway on a curve, with no real way to stop it or steer it in time with out serious struggle, the outcome could have endangered not only myself and those in my car but other motorists!! looking online I’m terrified to even drive this vehicle… apparently this is happening a lot with this model. (how!!!???) someone really needs to look at this problem!.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? while driving the entire engine and system shut off. All powered functions ceased and I was left to pull over with no power steering, the brakes didn't respond as well, signals weren't working either. Once pulled over I was able to restart the car with no issue, but the vehicle has continued to randomly lose all power, it seems to occur more frequently when when braking or slowing down. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? it was put at great risk as the car could have lost control and I was at limited capacity to correct with no engine power or other powered functions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning.
The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly jerk and hesitate. Also, the speedometer failed to operate as needed. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop with the pedal extended to the floor. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,346.
Van will suddenly shut engine down resulting in loss of brakes, power steering and all other systems. Van must need to be restarted by turning key off and back to run position. Seems to happen at lower speeds and is an intermittent issue that can’t be duplicated on command. Is becoming more frequent. (3 times in 2 days most recently) will stall in the middle of the road and unable to safely move over. Tractions control light will turn on.
