I was driving about 30 mph when I couldn’t accelerate or brake. The power steering also went out. I saw the traction light on. As I tried to move to the shoulder, I almost got hit. I turned the van off and then restarted it. When it started back up, no lights were on. This has done this to me every time I’ve driven it in the past 2 weeks. It is a big safety issue. I’m scared to drive it. I just recently had the fuel injector and spark plugs replaced. This did not fix the issue.
The vans power would flicker on and off multiple times. The windshield wipers would turn on and off. The radio on and off. All dash lights on and off. Then driving 26mph one day it did this and the whole engine shut off with the keys in the ignition while driving. I lost all power, power steering, and brakes! battery was replaced and the issues kept getting worse.

When coming to a stop the engine will stall. Radio and instrument panel stays powered up. Brakes and steering do not work. If the van is put into park and then restarted it will work again. This only occurs when coming to a stop and not while driving at any speed.
On 1/17/21, the van engine stalled while I was driving on a freeway. This caused loss of power steering and power brakes. I coasted to stop on side of road, waited a bit, and restarted the van. It drove for aout 3 miles when the same thing happened. Problem appears intermittent since it hasn't happened when I brielfy drove the car on 1/18 and 1/19. Dealer is saying they can't find anything wrong with car (took car in to dealer on 1/20).
Traction control light came on and engine shut off while driving around 30 miles per hour after just starting about 20 minutes after shut off and listening to radio with key in accessory position lost brakes and steering. Traction control would not come back on till I stopped 10 miles after restarting and turned off. Only came back on with engine not on.

Vehicle completely shuts off while driving at highway speed. Vehicle has turned off (lights, steering, braking, electrical) at 45mph while merging onto a highway, vehicle almost hit median before vehicle was put into neutral and restarted. Vehicle also shutoff at 65 mph while driving on highway.
Car was running perfectly at 70 mph on the highway and engine cut off without any warning or indication of poor operation, resulting immediate loss of power steering and loss power brakes. This has happened twice in 12 days on Nov 14 and now Nov 26 while driving to whole family to thanksgiving. Mechanic has not been able to duplicate the problem. Very scary. Car has 76k miles. Car will start right back up after 20 min and run perfectly fine. Car has been well maintained with extended warranty.

While driving, my 2010 Chrysler town and country will completely shut down. I have no brakes, no steering control and my engine completely does. It happens at times when I am coasting or driving at a slower speed. I have 2 little kids and it is terrifying when I've lost complete control of my vehicle, and I need to try and move off the road or try and restart it at an intersection with traffic all around me. There is no pattern to the shut down, it just happens sporadically. I've been reading, and it seems that there are a ton of complaints of the same thing happens to other people! please please consider this issue as a serious and dangerous defect to the vehicle.
My wife was driving our 2010 town and country on 10/12/2020 when the van suddenly died and as a result loss of power steering and brakes. She was able to put van in neutral, restart the van, and regain power steering and brakes. This is the sixth or seventh time this has happened so she knows this is a possibility and is prepared but this ridiculous to have so many documented instances and still no recall. Van has approximately 125,000 miles.
I was driving straight on a rural, two lane road at 45mph. The road was slightly hilly and conditions were clear. The van abruptly lost power and I could not steer. I waited for it to coast to a stop, put the vehicle in park and re-started the key. The van started right up and I continued driving.
I was at a red light at a city block intersection. When the light turned green, I started to accelerate, then the van immediately lost power. I was able to turn the hazard lights on. I could not steer, accelerate, brake. The van slowed to a stop and I turned the key to on (it had twisted to acc on its own. ) the van started back up and I continued on my drive.
The brakes rr will lock while driving in the hwy.

Traveling around a curve on city street dry pavement at 25mph , without warning all power , steering control, brakes gone. Entire car shut down while in motion, ran off road, no brake control, by the grace of god , I nor anyone else was killed or seriously injured. When car came to complete stop on its own before hitting someones house, I could put car in park and restart. Now afraid to drive that van.
I was driving straight at 40-45mph on a slightly hilly, two lane road with no curbs. The weather was clear, traffic was moderate. With no warning, all driving power went off and I couldn't steer or brake. I could still put the hazard lights on. I had to wait for the van to coast to a stop. Then I turned the key to on and the vehicle started back up. Thankfully, I didn't get hit or drive into a ditch. I had a van full of kids and was so scared.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that when driving down an incline at various speeds, the vehicle would vibrate upon depression of the brake pedal without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to the same independent mechanic on three separate occasions to have both his brakes and router replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they were unaware of such failure, they offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000. Jo.
The engine shuts down while driving on highway and making this a very dangerous situation where innocent people can be at risk of accident without warning since you don't have steering or brakes when it the engine shuts down.
Van has shut off randomly 4 times now. The first three times was while sitting still. It started right back up the first time but took awhile to start up the second time. The third time it also started right back up. The last time it shut off while driving through town at about 35 mph. Lost all braking and steering. Van will not start back up.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving 10-25 mph, a squishing sound was heard when the brake pedal was depressed. The abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to truck farm of easley (296 calhoun memorial hwy, easley, SC 29640, (864) 220-1811) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the battery terminal was loosened, the brake valve and brake booster wire were eaten by rodents. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the repairs were not covered under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
The van just at its own choice cuts off, you can be going 5 mph or 70mph. There is no warning, then you lose steering and braking with the engine off. After you get it stopped it starts right back up but you don't know for how long before it does it again. There is a recall on the igniti0n box but not for my VIN number, Chrysler needs to expand the years on that recall before someone gets hurt badly or killed. . .
I was driving and the van shut off and lost all power when going 60 mph. I lost control off the brakes, power steering, all electrical and engine power was gone.
On Wednesday 2/19/20, the engine shut off suddenly while driving. The steering and brakes were operating without power assist and the car was difficult to stop. This happened at slow speed while turning into a parking lot so the car was able to be stopped. The car was put into park and restarted. It operated fine immediately after the incident.
While driving, engine turns off randomly and renders the power steering and power brakes to lose their function as well. This has made driving the vehicle extremely dangerous because it happens randomly and without warning and has caused some close calls on the road, which is what prompted me to discontinue driving the van and taking it to the dealership. There are no open recalls for my vehicle, however, safety recall r03 describes exactly what is happening to my van and includes vehicles in model year 2010.
On 01\29\2020, the abs, brake, and traction control warning lights displayed on the dash. Now into winter, the vehicle no longer has traction control and abs. Diagnostics reveal that the abs module has proper powers and grounds even under load. So far, the only problem is the abs module has a problem with communication, diagnosed at the local independent repair shop. So far the vehicle is not repaired, and continues to be operated with the abs and traction control out of operation.

Vehicle was in motion on suburban street at speed of 40-45mph in a straight forward direction. Tire/traction symbol flashed on, then vehicle momentarily lost power. All lights flashed off, then came back on. Acceleration cut out, then resumed (foot was still on pedal). Steering temporarily locked up, then the steering wheel released so I could steer again.
Engine turns off and there is no power steering and only the abs only work. I was in motion and the engine just turned off while I was driving.
This has happened to us three times in the last three weeks. Shortly after starting the car we traveled less than a mile at about 25 mph and the engine suddenly turned off causing the power steering and breaks to fail. The van restarted one we put it in park and continued to work fine after that. We were driving in a crowded neighborhood where children play at the time.

Vehicle was in motion on suburban street at speed of 40-45mph in a straight forward direction. Tire/traction symbol flashed on, then vehicle lost all power. There was no lighting, accelerating, braking, or steering control. Vehicle slowed to stop. Removed key from ignition. . . Re-inserted key and re-started ignition. Vehicle then drove normally.
While driving van shut down. All electoral worked but no brakes or power steering. Like the key. Was in acc not on.
The problem is getting worse. It quit on the road 4 times. Always in the 20-30 mph range. The stabilizer light goes on, then power steering fails, breaks do not respond. Have to pull out key and restart. It has been getting worse over the last 6 months. Mechanics have no idea and say diagnostic check out fine. What do you do! I try 4 kids around in this thing!.
My vehicle will shut off while I'm driving. It's been an ongoing issue. There are no lights that come on, on the dashboard that indicate any error, except the antilock break light will occasionally light up. I could be driving slow or fast, it makes no difference, it will just shut off, and the power steering and brakes lose power and don't work. This is very dangerous and can easily cause an accident. I have done some research online and have also seen this exact same problem with hundreds upon hundreds of other consumers with the same make and model. People have taken their vehicles to Chrysler dealerships and mechanics and no one can figure out the cause. This is a huge safety issue. I have small children, 2 still in carseats, and my youngest who is 1 is handicap. I am scared to drive it. I still owe $10,000 on my auto loan for this car, so I am stuck with it. It seems like this is a defective vehicle, since so many others are having the same mystery safety issue.
Chrysler town and country stalls and shuts down while driving at any point that can do it and all the power steering and headlights and engine shut off it does it in town and on highways.
Danger - brakes freeze while stopped in traffic - need to shut off & restart Town & Country to get going again. Repair shop owner never heard of it.
When driving, the vehicle would shut off , steering wheel became stiff and brakes would not work, as if it lost all power. There would be abs and 'slippery' symbol on the dash board. It would happen during turning too and since the steering wheel was stiff, I was not able to turn it back straight and had to stop in the middle of the road. This vehicle stalling happened a few times and kept getting more frequent. I took it to dealer few times. They found code c121c stored in abs module once, but could not identify the problem. I read up online that other people are having the same problem and are replacing the egr valve. I asked dealer to replace that even though they did not think that was the problem. Ever since they replace the egr valve, it has been running okay. Its surprising that Chrysler dealer did not know of this know issue. But it is definitely not safe since the vehicle stalls anytime without notice and you cannot even control the steering wheel or brakes.
