Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the brake pads wore prematurely and caused the rotors to overheat and wear prematurely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where the rotors were also replaced, however the failure was not corrected and the brake pads continued to wear prematurely every 5,000 miles. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. Djr.

I have had the front brakes pads replaced at 15000 miles, and then the front pads replaced again at about 30000 miles. The rear pads were replaced also around 30,000 miles. When at the dealer for an oil change at 50000 they said the rear pads need replacing. I was fed up with the brakes on this vehicle and did not have the dealer repair them. Today at about 54000 miles I took my vehicle into midas and they showed me that the rear drivers side brake pad was wore down nearly all the way while the rear passenger side pad was only about half. (unever wear). The rear drivers side rotar also showed signs of overheating. (had a blueish/purple sheen to it)
I paid about 600 bucks to have the rear pads, calibers, and rotars replaced with ceramic pads.

Vehicles current mileage is 64,500 miles and as of today had to replace front brake pads/rotors 4 times and rear brake pads/rotors 2 times.
Rear brake pads worn and rear rotors found to be out of round. Chrysler extended warranty on front brakes to 3 years or 36,000 miles. My front brake pads and rotors were replaced at 17,843 miles by Chrysler for a $50. 00 doller deductible, but was told about rear brake problem also. My question is, most of the braking is done by the front brakes I think the rear brakes were compromised due to front brake failure. I was charged for rear rotors to be resurfaced and pads replaced. I think when this occurs at the same milage, Chrysler should make good for both front and rear brakes.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and noticed a vibration in the pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the front and rear rotors and pads would have to be replaced. There was an extended warranty for the front brakes but not for the rear brakes. The front brakes were replaced but the rear brakes were not. Approximate failure mileage was 9,800.
Brakes needed replacing -rotors and pads at 31,180 miles. . Chrysler was aware of the problem on these vehicles and had offered extended warranty for these brake repairs/replacement. Chrysler acted properly at this point, but did not really fix the problem longer term as we have had to replace the brake rotors and pads twice more since then. We are conservative drivers and do not ride the brake or brake harshly unless there is an emergency. Our vehicle now has only 56,600 miles on it and two more front rotor and pad brake replacements in the past twenty-five thousand miles is unacceptable and perhaps unsafe. We are communicating with both the dealer and with Chrysler, but based on what we have read online of others with this same type problem, we are not expecting helpful responses from either the dealer or Chrysler.

While driving I first experienced premature tire wear and when I bought 4 new tires ($650 dollars) later, I noticed that there was a loud humming noise. I returned to the tire dealer and they replaced all four tires with a better tire but the noise continued. I then took my vehicle to the car dealer and they explained that I needed new brake pads, rotors and my wheel bearings needed to be replaced! what a shock! with only 31,000 miles, I needed all of this to be repaired.
The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that an abnormal grinding was heard from the brakes when depressed and caused the vehicle shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer replaced the brakes, brake pads, bearings and the rotors. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and denied assistance with the repair. The failure mileage was 70,027 and the approximate mileage was 71,000. Kmj.
We purchased the vehicle September 2010. Within first year September 2011 the rotors needed be replaced due to warping. In 2012 within a year of replacement, one set was replace and the other was machined due to warping. June 2013, had to have both sets of rotors replaced again due to warping. The rotors have worn out before the brake pads. The reason we were given was due to excessive heat. I live in southern California where the temperature is not excessive. There is no explanation for the warping or what is causing the excessive heat. This is a safety hazard because the braking system become compromised when the rotors get hot, the car starts to shake every time you apply the brakes. Chryslers is not addressing this issue. Online, there are numerous complaints of this exact same issue. How can the rotors continue to go bad when the brake pads are still in good condition and all within 10k miles.
My van vibrates when I press on my brakes if I am going over 25 mph. Took my van in for service oct. 13 dealership told me my rotors were bad this was at 20,000 + miles and they needed to be turned. Then approx. Nov 15 we received a letter from Chrysler about the brakes and rotors being defective and we had an extension on the warranty, but had to pay a $50 ded. I took the van in on November 16 and the pads and rotors replaced. My van still vibrated after this. Today November 25 we took the van back to the dealership and they replaced the rotors again and said there is still a vibration but it seems to be coming from the rear. It does feel a less intense and not as bad in the steering wheel. They wanted for us to pay to have the rotors turned on the back. I believe there is an issues with the rotors all around on this vehicle. I am not about to pay as much for this van as we did and at the mileage we have on it which is just at 22000 today have to pay to do a thing with the brakes we already paid $50 deductible for for bad rotors once. I believe in supporting american companies but I am ready to trade this one in for a Honda or Toyota.
I own a 2009 Chrysler town and country touring. I now have approximately 60,000 miles on it. We have had to replace the breaks several times. Shortly after replacing, the brakes have a high pitched squeal. We have been told that this is due to extra hard brake pads. Eventually, the pads warp due to extreme heat and the steering wheel vibrates when braking. We have replaced the brake pads at least four times since owning the vehicle. In addition, we have experienced a rough transmission. Most recently including stalling when stopping at highway exits. We believe both of these issues are causes for concern for safety.
Told by dealer we need new front pads and rotors after 24,000 miles.
In July 2011, I brought my vehicle to Chrysler to report a bad pulsation feeling when the brakes were applied. We had 41,761 miles on vehicle and on a trip from new jersey to pennsylvania, we felt that the vehicle was struggling to brake fast enough. Chrysler stated that I needed new front rotors. They replaced them and my cost was close to $400. Several weeks later, on 8/16/11, I brought my vehicle to Chrysler again to report the same bad pulsation feeling when the brakes were applied and felt that the vehicle was struggling to brake fast enough. I was informed by Chrysler that the left front rotor was scored and pitted and the coating failed for mopar ro 180802. On 8/16/11, they replaced the left front rotor. One year later my vehicle has 53,754 miles on it. On 8/30/12, I bring my vehicle to Chrysler due to a very high pitched brake squeal. Chrysler completes a full brake inspection and informs me that the brake pads and rotors are fine and do not need to be replaced. About 4 days later, the high pitched squeal from my brakes is louder and occurring more. I am feeling a bad pulsation feeling when the brakes are applied. I am told I need new front rotors. I should not have to replace rotors after 12,000 miles. Chrysler should recall the brakes in the 2008 town and country model. Brakes are one of, if not the most important part of a vehicle that should be functioning properly and should not need to be replaced 1-2 times per year. I drive under normal weather conditions on a mix of highway and some city roads.
I have just read way too many identical complaiints. I bought the high end model and at 17000 or possibly before we noticed the brakes would pulsate at even low miles especially after the vehicle would be driven a while. I took it into the dealership where they informed me the same as everyone else that the front rotars were warped and needed replaced or turned. They were only covered for 12k miles. . . And would not cover. This vehicle goes no where. . . I have a stay at home wife who might put 15-20 miles a day on average on this vehicle. I took it in an had the rotars turned and new pads put on. . . . The brakes acted up the same day I picked up the van. "really" . . . . . A 40k van and the braking system has major issues. How is this problem not beeing recalled!!.
Early brake wear - I bought a 2008 Chrysler t&c in December 2010 with approximately 26,500 miles. The service history indicates that it had the brakes replaced when it was only a year old and had 11,996 miles. We have since had to replace the front pads at 27,000 miles and at 28,500 we are now having to replace the rear brake pads which are wearing unevenly and all four rotors.
I have a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country that I purchased new with currently 13,000 miles on it. Within a year we began experiencing loud squealing noises while driving from the rear of the car. In 2010 the dealer had to replace the front and rear brakes pads and rotors. The loud squealing noise from the rear never really was resolved. Most recently we have noticed a burning odor and smell from the rear tire area and the rear wheel rims are very hot to the touch when we stop the car to inspect. We have researched this on-line and notice that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of similar complaints. I contacted the service manager at my dealer in chicago and they informed me that they have seen and are experiencing this issue frequently with brake type issues for Chrysler Town & Country 2008 models and the standard remedy is to change the brake pads and rotors. Many people have reported doing this several times with very low mileage. This does not resolve the issue. There is obviously a problem here, the root cause has not been addressed, and Chrysler needs to take ownership and responsibility for this issue. I and others should not have to continuously pay or invest time to address these problems especially at very low mileage.
I have a 2010 town and country. Steering wheel started to vibrate around 29,000 miles. Told I needed new rotors and brake pads. Chrysler has been using faulty rotors for the last 3 models and needs to recall vans. Inexcusable that I should have to pay for new brakes with a car that is only 1 1/2 years old.
Shortly after a brand new 2010 Town & Country I started to get shaking in the steering. The shaking would start when I tried to apply the brakes. I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal for minivans and that I must be driving on hills. They said the brakes would need to be resurfaced. They didn't offer to do that at that time and said it was my problem. After a few more months and the problem continually getting worse, I couldn't take it anymore and was ready to pay for new brakes. The dealership provided some sort of warranty and I had to pay a deductible. That solved the problem for a time. After about a year, I started getting some shaking on my tires. I took it to the dealership and they said the brakes were wearing down and that they would need to be replaced soon. I was surprised because the car was less than 2 years old and only had about 20k in mileage. I didn't get any repair at that time. Now it's been about another 6 months and my brakes are completely shot. The rotors have been worn down and need to be replaced along with the pads. This will be the second set in just over 2 years and the car has around 40k in miles. I'm going to pay for this repair and file a claim with Chrysler. This doesn't seem normal and it looks like they have some issues with their brakes.
The contact owns 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the contact heard a loud humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. When the contact stopped the vehicle, he could smell a burning odor. He stated that the rim of the rear passenger side was abnormally hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the rotors and brake pads were replaced. The technician stated that there was only five percent of the brakes left and the rotors were severely rusted. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 22,800.
I wish to complain about my 2008 Chrysler town and country's constant brake problems. I have have both front and rear brakes fully replaced at 30,000 mile only to fail inspection less than 12,000 miles later that the pads as well as the rotors need to be replaced again at my expense because although it was under 12,000 miles(the warranty) I was 39 days over 12 months. My research has shown multiple complaint on this vehicle for this exact problem resulting is a prorated authorized reinbursment from Chrysler back in July. This is happening again after the "one time reinbursement" and the dealership wants over 400 for the repair or they will not pass the inspection. Please look into this and the 1000's of other complaints about the town and country 2008 for costly cheap factory and replacement brakes. A recall is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
2008 Chrysler town and country touring rear brakes pads and rotors need replacing at 26,000 miles.
Brakes start shuddering at 8,000 miles, rear rotors turned at 12,000 miles, no help, different dealer all new rotors and pads at 16,000 miles, everything good, brakes shuddering again at 23,000 miles, told wheels out of balance - wheels weren't out of balance, still shuddering, back at dealer again - they don't think it's the brakes - they are full of bull!.
I bought a 2008 Chrysler town and country in 9/08. I received a warranty extension regarding the front brakes. Took in to a dealer 8/20/10 was told that there are no front brakes available as there is a national backorder from Chrysler but the rear brakes are okay. I called 3 times to inquire on the parts status told not available from Chrysler. Went to another dealer who had the brakes but am now told that my rear brakes will not pass nys inspections on 9/28/10. I have exactly 24,171 miles on my car. I was told by the dealer that it was my bad driving habits that caused the rear brake failure and not defective parts although the front brakes are defective and Chrysler is extending the warranty out of their commitment to the customer. I have never had a car have rear brake issues especially at 24,000 miles. I had to pay the additional $50 toward the deductible b/c Chrysler was out of brakes and I went over the 24,000 threshold while waiting for them to ship. Now I had to pay $267. 00 for rear brake pads in a two year old vehicle. I have noticed on the internet that many more people are having this rear brake problem with Chrysler as well.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country. While having the vehicle examined the contact noticed that the front brake pads were worn down to the rotor. The vehicle had not been diagnosed and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 29000.
While driving at highway speeds approximately 55 mph, and then heavy traffic ahead if I depress my brake pedal the entire car shakes like real violently. I call the dealer they said we are aware of a problem, call for an appointment, when they looked at is about 2 months later they said it is under warranty they had to replace the warped rotors, and brake pads. Everything was fine till about 3 weeks latter it was doing it again I was told again the rotors are warped and I would have to pay a $100 deductible, I told them it is bran new I refuse to pay this. I left the dealer. After a week later I bring it in again the front rotors and pads along with the same in the rear, they said they changed the front rotors and pads out of good faith, I told them thanks for fixing the lemon. They said the vehicle will not pass inspection with the rear like that, I told them they should use better parts, and I will start using another dealer, so I did. Since then Chrysler has issued 2 recalls, one for the front rotors only, and a $100 deductible, and another recall having to do with the front wheel bearings. I was able to fix the rear and front brake pads, and rotors my self using a brand called raybestos they are aware of the Chrysler defect and make a problem free rotor for the fix, I have had it installed so far for 2 years problem free. Raybestos advanced technology rotors and pads.
2007 Chrysler town and country driver's side front brake had unusually fast wear and gave no audio warning of low pad material. I took my '07 t&c with 28,180 miles into Chrysler dealer with grinding sound coming from driver's side wheel when applying brakes. Diagnosis reveal rotor grind thru and must replace front pads and rotors. 3 things unusual:
1. Out of 6 new cars I've owned and driven in the same fashion, this Chrysler's brakes worn out unusually fast compared with the others. 2. There was no audio warning on this Chrysler to alter you that the pads are thin. I suddenly start to hear a grinding sound on Saturday, and on Monday, the dealer tells me I've worn thru the driver's side front rotor. 3. Although the driver's side rotor is "completely down to the metal" (according to dealership service dept), the passenger side front pad was still good.

Just after a yr of driving and 20k miles my brakes were not feeling right. I took my van to the dealer and had the pads replaced. At 35 thousand I took the van back in because I had the same issue again. The dealer wanted to replace all the pads and turn rotors. I was not happy. The problem I was told got fixed in 2008. Not to mention the expense. I had the pads done and only front rotors done. In my experience of all 8 vehicles I've owned. Never had I need to replace the rear rotors. Maybe at 60k on my Dodge dakota. And I used it for heavy use. The van is driving to PA twice a yr from FL and orlando a lot. It seems to me there is a problem with the brakes on the 2009.
The brakes are constantly needing to be replaced due to wear. The problem begins with squeaking and then grinding begins. Brakes are being replaced as often as every 12,000 miles. Repairs involved new brake pads and either new rotors or repaired rotors. This has been an ongoing problem since about 12,000 miles.
Front and rear brake pads and rotors on 2008 Chrysler town and country vehicles are inferior and wear out prematurely; and in some cases the pad material separates from the steel backing plate. Rotors are also inferior and warp. All of this occurs usually in under 15,000 miles. Chrysler is aware of this problem, and knows that it extends into may other vehicle lines. New rotors and pads have been installed to correct this issue on my vehicle which now stops properly. The brakes on this vehicle can become ineffective due to loss of friction material, or heating caused by inferior rotor materials.
2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. Around 17,000 miles the van started making noise when applying the brakes took it in and the brake pads were replaced, then less than 300 miles later it was screeching and the brake pads & rotors had to be replaced. I filed a complaint then odi id number : 10326711. To their credit, Chrysler did reimburse us. Now in July 2010, the brakes are making noises and we take it to Chrysler and they told us it needs new brake pads an rotors again, this is less than 6,000 miles later. However the rotors are on backorder and will not be in until late August. It is now October 26th, 3 months later and we have just been told for the fifth straight time that the rotors are still on backorder and they do not expect them until sometime in November. Our car now shakes and shimmies and squeals & screeches when we apply the brakes. This cannot be good for the vehicle and has to be affecting the wheels, axles, bearings, etc not to mention whatever else on the car is getting shaken out of place. I feel it is a rolling deathtrap and should not even be allowed on the highway. Chrysler has admitted they have brake problems and sent out letters to assist with paying for new brakes however, making someone wait for over 3 months for brake parts is criminal! the dealership where we have been trying to get the parts says they are so sorry but this has been an on going problem with the Chrysler minivans. We even called the dealership in a town about 60 miles away and they too confirmed the rotors are on backorder. Please investigate this and step in and do something before serious accidents and injuries occur.
2008 chrsyler town and country front brakes are defective and ear out within 5,000 miles. Manufacturer is aware of problem and has designed new brake pads. They have not recalled the vehicles. They do not have enough brake pads available for replacement and are telling customers that they must wait 4 months to get brake pads. They suggest that people simply drive with metal on metal until brakes are available. This is absurd and obviously unsafe.
Brake system problem with a 2008 Chrysler town and country signature/touring edition. The vehicle has premature break squeal and grinding @ 20,726 miles. Received a letter from Chrysler stating that listed vehicle 'may' be covered under an extended warranty program. Immediately took the vehicle into the nearest dealer (dick scott Dodge, Plymouth, mi). Dealer charged $35. 00 to inspect. Charged a $100. 00 deductible to cover the front brakes and front rotors and charged an additional 120. 67 to machine the rear rotors, deglaze the rear pads and lube the rear slides. The total bill was $256. 67. Continued to research the brake problem and learned that this is and will continue to be an ongoing issue with the vehicle.
The contact owns 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that during routine maintenance, the mechanic mentioned that the front and rear brakes were wearing out rapidly. The mechanic also stated that both the front and rear brakes needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the design of the braking system. The inside brake pads exhibited a wear pattern while the outside brake pads looked new. The failure and current mileages were 42500.
The 2008 Chrysler town and country minivan we have had begin to shimmy and vibrate up through the steering wheel when braking, especially when slowing down on the parkway. Concerned about the safety of the vehicle, I promptly brought it to my local mechanic. Upon his inspection, the vehicle required both front rotors and pads replaced. The vehicle has less than 10,000 miles on it. How can a 10,000 mile car need new rotors so soon? I hope to take this up with Chrysler directly and to be compensated for the expense of this service.
Purchased 2009 Chrysler Town & Country new. Took to dealer at 19k miles because front rotors were so warped that it was unsafe to brake at highway speeds due to extreme shimmy of steering wheel. Was informed that "brakes" were only warranted for 12k miles so replacement cost would be on me. Called Chrysler customer assistance line to complain that the rotors wore out before the pads wore out, neither of which should have failed at 19k miles based on my driving characteristics--mostly highway miles, gentle breaking, etc. Chrysler agreed to cover the replacement cost. Shortly thereafter Chrysler issued an "extended warranty" on the t&c braking system but owner is responsible for a deductible depending on mileage. Vehicle now (9/2/11) has 35k miles and feeling pulsing when depressing brake pedal but not excessive. Took vehicle to dealer for unrelated issue and mentioned brake concern. They tell me that front brake pads and rotors need replaced and it will only cost me $100 deductible since Chrysler has extended warranty. I tell them to do the work since I'm concerned about safety of myself, my family, and other motorists. I call Chrysler and they think it is a great deal that it will only cost me $100. I understand that brake pads are designed to wear but when did rotors become a wear item, especially faster than the pads? all 4 pads had 8/32" life remaining--I have pictures. Chrysler had no good answer other than to quote me the language from the warranty booklet that they are only covered for 12k miles but that Chrysler recognizes an issue which is why they issued the "extended" warranty. They can warrant the power train for the life of the vehicle but they can't warrant the brake rotor for more than 12 months? this seems to me to be design negligence of a critical safety item and should be addressed more than just discounting the replacement every 16k miles.
