46 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/18/2008

The airbag warning lamp came on intermittently at first over the course of a week or so then it stayed on solid. I took it to the dealer for service while under warranty and they replaced the right front airbag sensor without cost under warranty which fixed the problem. The reason I'm filing this complaint is because the sensor recall (id # 07v192000) only covers vehicles with build dates between Apr 24, 2003 and Feb 2, 2005. My vehicle, which has a "date of mfr" of 07/05, is not covered by this recall. My concern is that if the problem with my vehicle is not just a random occurrence Chrysler may have underestimated the number of vehicles potentially impacted by the recall.

51 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/01/2007

It started actually quite some time ago. It seemed that every once in a while I would lose my power steering. Once it almost caused me to run off the road and into a cement curb. Luckily, I was able to work the wheel around and after about five minutes of trying to control the van, the power steering came back. There has been a noise at the front of the vehicle for quite some time and then I noticed the van was leaking something. I took it to the dealer and they said there was a leak in the steering gear assembly and that it needed to be replaced. They also said that they are replacing so many of them that the part was backordered and they were unsure when they would get one. That was in Nov. 2007. It is now April 2008 and I am still waiting. In Feb of 2008 I was told they had one for me and I took my van in and then was told that it never arrived and that they told their parts dealer that they needed it immediately because the power steering fluid is leaking onto other parts and can cause problems. It's still been two months since then and nothing. The whole front of my van feels and sounds like its going to fall off at any moment. I have had to refill my power steering fluid every 2-3 days since Nov 07 and it isn't getting any better. Unfortunately, this is not the only problem I have had with this van. The right cv joint had to be replaced after only 2 years, the air bag sensors went bad and only after I paid to have it checked out to the tune of $70 were they recalled, there was a recall on the rear heating/cooling tubes because of cold weather conditions, the driver side sliding door no longer works as well as the front passenger window. During a terrible rain storm, I had to go through a large puddle and the spare tire was ripped from the undercarriage because it was never sealed properly and the part was defective. Both sets of brakes have had to be replaced, rotors redone and the tires have been replaced twice.

52 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

My right side airbag internally opened (2002 Chrysler Town & Country 3. 3 v-6) stated by metro Jeep and Chrysler. I don't understand why. I have no idea why this happened. I haven't been in any kind of collision. At metro Jeep & Chrysler. I was told that if a new module is not put in, the right side airbag won't deploy. I believe that this is a manufacturer"s (Chrysler) error.

58 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/02/2007

Since we purchased this van in 2001 we have had a problem with it not wanting to run, at first it was intermittent, but now it is just sitting at the shop. We have taken it in to the dealer 6 times, and to 2 other mechanics 4 times and finally may have found that it is the body control module. We have already spent thousands of dollars on this van and now they want another $1000 that we do not have. I have been reading lots of complaints on the computer concerning this part of the vehicle, why is there no recall for this???.

59 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country which I purchased new. In the following months the airbag light has come February 05, may 06, November 06, December 06, Jan 07, February 07, March 07, the light has stayed on for 3 minutes - 40 minutes. I have repeatedly brought the vehicle back to the dealer. Sometimes it throughs a code ,but most often it did not. At times they have been able to duplicate the problem ,and sometimes they could not. Recently they have not been able to duplicate the problem and no codes were shoown. The dealer was looking to chrylser for tech support, and I have been waiting 6 weeks. I have contacted Chrysler may times, they told me to deal with the dealer - there is nothing that can be done unless a code is thrown or the problem is duplicated. They have also told me that when the light goes on the airbag will not work.

We have a 2005 town and country minivan that we purchased from brunswick auto mart. We have had to have it serviced to repair the air bag sensors three times in less than 45,000 miles. 65 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/16/2006

I was in a car accident on 9-16-06, which was caused by another driver running a stop sign and smashing the front, driver side of my 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. The estimated damage thus far is over $8,000. The car is still at the shop being repaired. None of the air bags deployed. I have since learned, by reading this website, that the front air bags used in this vehicle are currently being investigated by the NHTSA. Chrysler corp. Advised me that it would investigate the air bags in my car (purchased one week prior to accident), but I have not heard anything yet, despite submitting a complaint on line, writing a letter and placing telephone calls. The dealer, Chrysler paramus, of new jersey, has also been uncooperative in this regard. I was advised today by the mechanic that the car repairs should be complete in another week or so. However, that only refers to the damage from the collision. The car will still have defective airbags and that is of grave concern to me.
