Air Bag On-off Switch Problems of Dodge Caravan

Had a recall on the airbag sensor and had it fixed 3 or 4 years ago. On 12-2-2018 the warning light came on, doing the same problem. I have not as yet found if the sensor was fixed with another bad one. This needs looked into. To see if others have this reacurring safty problem. Comes on 10 minutes into drive,goes off after sitting 2 minutes with switch off.

I had this van 2005 Caravan for about 5 years and past year I had 3 issues, one of them is that my lights turned off right in the middle of highway and it was very scary , I fixed it by replacing the light switch and now is ok but it should be looked into becouse there is more incidents of that type on other Caravans as I can see,second is my airbag sensor light comes ,stays ,goes away and then comes back up as it wills ,I did not fix it since I dont know how to but will try to get it done as a recall, third one is my fuel pump is leaking at a same point where I saw pictures and complaints by other owners so I would like just to add my own complaint,I will replace my fuel pump since I doubt I can get recall in near future but hopefully keep the receipt if it gets approved so I can try to get my money back,thank you for your consideration.

Air bag light will not go off. Lost use of horn. Replaced transmission in February 2003, this car is terrible. Mechanic advised me that the clock spring is off, suggested I take it to the dealer. I will do so and am purchasing a new car. Do not feel safe riding with kids in car.

Windshield wipers come on by themselves all the time, sometimes they stop after a few swipes and sometimes I need to turn the switch on and then off again to make them stop. So far they have worked when I needed them but it may only be a matter of time before complete failure. This should be a recall item, it is very unsafe! (1999) airbag light comes on and stays on nearly all the time now. (Jun 2003) sliding door lock doesn't always engage or disengage when using the power locks.

Called NHTSA via 888 line to check on a recall of an air bag switch transferred to "rowland". He took the make and model info and said there was a "recall" but that NHTSA did not have the VIN #s effected. He gave me the recall number for Chrysler 800-853-1403. "beverly" asked demographic info and after repeated requests she finally did give some info. She says there is "no official" request but that Chrysler is conducting an investigation (she did not give me any expected date of completion). I was given a case # 10626557. I asked to speak with "someone" who could answer my questions about a timeline. I was on hold for approx. 5 minutes and "sharon crenshaw" (supervisor) came on the line and repeated that no timeline is available. I thanked her but told her that NHTSA told me that there was a recall. Sharon said that cars that are included will receive a notice via the mail. I could choose to take my "chances" and go to a dealer and have them check the switch and repair if needed. Then I could submit a request for "possible" reimbursement. I asked if the dealer could compare the problem to the NHTSA description of the switch and tell me if it is the same. Sharon said the dealer does not have access to that information. I told her that what I have is public information from the NHTSA website. Sharon had nothing further to offer. Dt.

Airbag system is inoperative due to a faulty clock spring switch. Dash light is on constantly. Took to dealer, and they said this happens frequently. Chrysler does not show condolence over this, and that people could dye in serious accident because air bag wont deploy. Consumer feels this is very dangerous because if crashing airbag will not deploy.

I have experienced failures in my steering colmn which does not allow me to use my horn, cruise control, and I am afraid that my air bag does not work. The airbag light stays on along with abs and intermitant other lights. I have had to repair my transmission and it still does not work properly. Slipping from time to time. The rear a/c fan switch only works in the low and high position. Trassmision gives off a burning smell when hot.

When driving the air bag light was coming off and on. Consumer had to take the air bag and horn switch to dealer for repairs, and the dealer put in a new air bag and horn. 831047 dup 0f 831604; posted on 09-07-1999.

Request for air bag on and off switch. The consumers vehicle was modified with handicap adaptive equipment, in which her body was closer than 10 inches to the steering wheel.
