Driver's side air bag, the horn and the cruise control do not work. It is quite obvious that these defects are caused by a defective clock spring. This was a matter of recall for the Dodge Caravan and grand Caravan, Plymouth voyager and grand voyager and Chrysler town and country from the 1996-2000 model years. Our car is 2001 model and is not in a recall list, but it is quite obvious to me that the defect was not fixed in 2001 year models. Am I alone complaining about this unfixed problem? thank you, sergei.

Intermittent failure of the driver side air bag while driving. Mainly occurs during right turning events. Light will illuminate (air bag) during a right turn event. When vehicle is driven straight ahead, the light will reset. This has occurred numerous times during my ownership, and does not seem to be weather related.
Contact complained about the recall of earlier models of the same car where the clock spring in the steering column was bad. The steering was not affected . This caused the horn and cruise control to malfunction. The air bag light came on intermittently. Contact called Dodge and told them. He had this problem for the past week.
The horn and the drivers side airbag have stopped working.
May 7, 2005, I was in an automobile accident. The other car was a 2004 Honda accord. The front passenger side of the accord hit the front driver side of my 1996 Dodge Caravan just in front of the driver's seat. The passenger side airbag inflated, the driver side airbag did not. Through the course of having this car, the "airbag" light was an issue almost from day one. When I would take it to the dealership, bill kay Chrysler in naperville, they would check it and find nothing wrong. Finally I was told to ignore the "airbag" light that there was a faulty sensor that could not be fixed.

While driving 40 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a head on collision. The passenger side air bag deployed, however, the driver side air bag did not deploy. Driver sustained chest and neck injuries. , and front end suffered extensive damage.
Air bags deployed inadvertently, without adequate cause on Sunday August 7, 2004 at around 5 p. M. I was traveling in my 2000 Dodge Caravan on a lightly traveled gravel surface road that is rough in spots, at 10 mph or less when both front airbags . I stopped immediately, unaware of what had caused them to deploy in the absence of any front end or side collision. Given that I was seated upright and not thrown forward by any collision, the driver side bag slighlty contacted the left side of my face, scraping it. My reading glasses, placed on the passenger seat, open, upside down and with lenses facing forward, were flattened by the passenger side airbag. I got out of the vehicle and surveyed the situation. A haed-size stone had contacted the leading edge of the muffler and been rolled up and free. Observing no damage of any significance, I consulted my owners manual, stuffed the airbags back into their cavities and drove home, somewhat shaken by the experience. I contacted daimler Chrysler. The special investigations team had the vehicle examined. It responded, stating that it feels that the airbags operated properly by deploying in this situation. I challenged the finding and requested a copy of the investigation report. My request was denied by daimler Chrysler claiming the information is proprietary . It advised me to persue repairs through my insurance company, or hire my own investigator and attorney. The repair estimate of record is $2893. 63, minus a $500 deductible. I have not accepted a settlement or had the vehicle repaired for fear that my insurer will raise my rates to recover the large payout.
Consumer's vehicle was hit head on by another vehicle at 40 mph. Only the passenger's side air bag deployed. However, driver's side air bag failed to deploy. The consumer was not notified of the air bag clock spring recall 02v293000 although the vehicle's VIN number was included in the recall. Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 45-50 mph impact with a tracker trailer and driver's side air bag failed to deploy. Driver received facial and body bruises. Driver did not go to the local hospital until a week or two later. Dealer was not notified.
40 to 60 mph rear end crash by BMW into stationary (trans in drive, waiting to exit expressway) 2003 Dodge Caravan sport - (only driver and front passenger in Caravan, both with seat belts fastened) all seat backs collapsed backward, including middle bench, both driver and passenger were flung back causing neck injuries. If a child had been sitting on the middle bench seat they may have been crushed. In addition the driver side visor detached completely (electrical wires torn out from visor light) and flew into the drivers face. The Caravan after being hit was pushed into the next car in front of it. Neither the driver side or passenger side airbags deployed.

I hit her car in front of drivers door. Then we hit my passanger side with other car. Two impacts first head on then on side. Passanger side air bag deployed drivers side did not. As the driver I sustained chest and arm fractures. Contacted Dodge . Investogator came out and looked at van. Report from Dodge said the van worked as it should. How does one air bag go off and not the other. Why bother haveing two. Both had seat belt on.

I am reporting the failure of the passenger side air-bag "clock spring" after the normal warranty period of this vehicle. The item is critical to the safety of the vehicle passenger and should not fail. The frequency of these failures should be investigated to insure that it is not endangering drivers and passenger of this type of vehicle.
While sitting in traffic consumer was rear ended by three vehicles, and the driver's side air bag didn't deploy.
