I was driving eastbound on a city road at 30mph. From the north, my driver side a truck ran a stop sign as I was going through the intersection and my vehicle struck his crumpling the front end of my van. My concern is that the airbags never deployed. While more damage was done on the driver side the entire front was smashed backwards and his vehicle had spun and also struck the passenger side behind the front tire.

On 6/5/14 while driving down the hwy at 65mph a deer had bolted out in front of my 02 Caravan. I had reaction time with hitting my brakes until my brake light illuminated & my van continues sliding on dry pavement, I attempted hitting my horn but noticed the section of the steering wheel that the hornvis located was rock hard & could not be pushed in even the slightest. I ended up hitting the deer dead center of the front of my van, crumpled my hood, cracking my radiator, headlight assemlies, grill & cooling fans. My airbags never deployed. Since this incident my brake light illuminated just about every time I press on the brakes & come to a rest lasting 30 second or longer & will go off moments after releasing the pedal. Approx mileage 165, 000 road conditions were dry, daylight & 100% visibility.

2002 Dodge Caravan. Consumer writes in regards to air bags malfunction. The consumer stated he was involved in an accident on August 9, 2013. The air bags failed to deploy even after the impact, and there were possible seat belt issues, as well. Because of the failure, his wife was ejected from the passenger side of the vehicle, and died two days later. Had the air bags deployed, she would have remained in the vehicle and had a greater chance of living.
We received a "recall" notice for air bag module possible malfunction. We took the vehicle to a dealer who informed us that the repair part was not available and on back-order. One month later our vehicle was involved in an accident and the airbags did not deploy. I contacted Chrysler, who sent an inspector service to examine the vehicle. All damage was done to the front passenger side fender. I received a "form letter" stating that upon inspection, the vehicle was already disassembled and no manufacturing flaw was found. We received notice a few days later that the part was now in and available for repair. The letter apologized for any injuries and hoped that the driver was well on the way to recovery. No injuries occurred. The letter was from the office of "general counsel" my goal was simply to make them aware of how incredibly stupid it is to send out a recall notice and not have the part available for the next 45 days. They seemed unconcerned that this could have been a very serious flaw in the air bag deployment system.

Description: I was involved in an accident on 10 Jan 2010 while driving my
2005 Dodge Caravan sxt. The accident was initially caused by an individual
carrying furniture in the back of his pick-up truck. The furniture fell out
of the back of the truck forced myself and another driver in front of me to
slam on our brakes. I immediately applied my brakes however the abs did not
engage and I skidded into the chevy silverado truck that was traveling in
front of me. I left two 50ft skid marks (my estimate) behind me. Ultimately, the failure of the abs system caused me to impact the rear of the
silverado. Additionally, and just as importantly, my air bags did not deploy
upon impact. I was later informed by Dodge/Chrysler, who I complained to,
that based on the area of impact the sensors were not damaged, which in-turn
was the determining factor why they didn't deploy. After checking all the
recalls for my van there was a recall for the airbag sensor that Dodge failed
to inform us of, in addition to other recalls. We took plenty of pictures at the scene of the accident to show all the problems I have stated in the complaint,Dodge model: Caravan

Driver's air bag warning light comes on. When this happens the horn will not operate. The problem sometimes goes away when the steering wheel is turned. My concern is that the air bag may not deploy if I were in an accident. Also, the horn may not work when needed I. E. If a child runs out in front
of my van. This is an unsafe condition.

2000 Dodge Caravan swerved to avoid a deer and went off the road at a speed over 55 mph, striking the front end and undercarriage as it careened down and then up a drainage ditch, to the extent that parts of the van were torn away from the vehicle and causing the transmission to disengaged. The van then went through a wooden fence striking one of the main posts within the angle outlined on the pamphlet Dodge sent in response to my complaint, and finally crashed into a pine tree. The Caravan was totaled. The airbags did not deploy resulting in multiple injuries: to the drivers left arm, head when it bounced off the steering wheel repeatedly knocking her unconscious, injuries to the neck and back, and right ribs from the seat belt. We contacted daimler Chrysler and were sent a form letter denying any fault in deployment. Subsequently we found that there was in fact a recall issued in October 2004 citing the airbag clock spring.
The contact owns a 1998 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle was involved in a frontal accident at 55 mph. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy, and the seat belt did not restrain. The contact's husband was driving the vehicle and he hit the steering wheel, and his coworker was the passenger, and he went into the windshield. Both occupants where wearing their seat belts and where properly restrained. The air bag warning light was on before recall repairs had been done in July 2005, and horn would not work. After the recall repairs were completed the light did not come back on. There was pre-impact braking to both occupants. This caused injuries to both occupants. The dealership and the manufacturer have been contacted, and they told her they would send her file off to special investigations, and she may hear from back from them, and she may not. This accident occurred on October 11, 2005. T a police report was taken. The accident caused property damage to the vehicle.
The consumer's vehicle hit a semi trailer at about 20 mph and the frontal airbags did not deploy. The driver tried to brake, and the impact was in the front of the vehicle. The bumper was moved back 8 inches, the transmission, the cooler and radiator were bent over the motor. Consumer has filed a complaint with Chrysler, and they sent an investigator to see the damage and take pictures. The van was totaled. There was 1 injury, the injury would not had been as bad if the airbags would have deployed. The passenger suffered internal injuries, bleeding, and bruising due to seat belt failure.
Contact stated on 3-20-05 another van veered into contact's vehicle lane and hit it and ran it into a cement pole. Vehicle was totaled.
