Rear brake lines rusted and burst where the stainless stell braided lines are welded to the regular steel lines are connected, causing brake fluid to disperse and loose pressure and complete failure of brakes. This is very dangerous and could lead to a fatal accident. Thank god my 70 year old mother who owns the van was not driving it.

Brake lines rusted out.
The 2006 Dodge Caravan uses a mixture of plastic and metal brake lines. The plastic lines are not safe. A couple months ago the left rear plastic brake line busted during driving and almost cause an accident. Yesterday the right rear plastic brake line busted and almost caused a crash (with family in the vehicle). The 2006 vehicle is not old; the lines should be more durable. There is no warning you've lost all your brake fluid until you push the brake pedal and it bottoms out and your vehicle doesn't stop.

Brake lines failed on 2000 Dodge Caravan. Consumer thinks that this problem should be a recall. When the consumer backed out of his driveway, he lightly applied the brakes and the pedal went soft and there was very little braking capability. Fluid was found on the ground . The corrosion was limited to the steel tubing directly adjacent to the stainless steel flex lines.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caravan. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a loud grinding and squealing noise when the brake pedal was depressed. She noticed a decrease in the brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance. The emergency brake assisted during this failure. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was related to the brakes and rotors. There were no parts available to repair the vehicle. The technician recommended that the vehicle be serviced by an authorized dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for the same failure, but the failure persists. The failure mileage was 15,685 and current mileage was 24,000.

I own a Dodge braun entervan. In the design of this van braun cuts out the floor to lower it 10 incher. The brake lines are replaced and are located under the lowered floor. The quality of the new brake lines are inferior and rust through causing complete brake failure. I tried to tell braun of the problem but they would not return my phone calls.
Consumer drove down a driveway to park vehicle. The next time he was in the car he had to back out of the driveway to a road where it was flat and the brake pedal went right to the floor. He drove home from there using the emergency brake. Consumer thought it may be lacking brake fluid, which he replaced, and did not help. The next morning the consumer took the vehicle to his mechanic, thinking he had air in his line. The mechanic informed the consumer that brake line broke.
