I was backing out of a parking space in 2012, when the brakes completely failed, I had to put my vehicle into gear in order for it to stop. Even though I was only going 5 mph or less, I was on a downhill slope. There wasn't an accident nor any damage, so I don't have that to report. The van was taken to towbin Dodge in henderson, nv that weekend I believe and I was told that the recall defect had been fixed. However, the horn, airbag light and abs still do not work. My VIN #1b4gp45l7wb761901, my question is this. If the recall problem is still defective even though it's been repaired, what am I supposed to do?.
While driving at 25 mph towards a stop sign. I applied the brakes and I had no brakes. None, without warning the brakes completely failed. Went through the stop sign. Fortunatly there were no vehicles coming and no pedestrians crossing. Have driven for 40 years and never had anything like this happen. Very very dangerous. Had vehicle taken to dealer in spokane. Do not know what the problem is yet. This is the first year of a redesigned body style. Maybe this is just the beginning of trouble for this vehicle.

I have 2010 Dodge grand Caravan, the brakes are shot at 18,000 miles. I have never owed a new vehicle where the brakes failed like this. Brakes should last way longer than this. Of course they say the warranty is only to 12,000 miles for brakes, I have no choice but to pay, I have to have brakes! when we go pick it up I know my husband is going to cuss them out, I should not have to pay 300. 00 for brakes on a car just over 1 year old.

While driving in the parking lot of a store I experienced a total brake pedal failure. When I applied the brakes the van simply kept on going. I checked for the pedal and could not see it any longer. It had practically disappeared - only the top of the pedal was visible at the floor. After trying to stop the van with the gears, I hit the emergency brake and came to a stop. This was a life threatening situation. The car is now at the shop. The mechanics stated that a small part necessary for the brakes to function was missing. Apparently the part only costs $12. It has been ordered and will be replaced soon.

Multiple brake failures on my 2008 Dodge Caravan.
Complete and sudden brake failure while approaching a stoplight. I was very lucky to be able to steer around the vehicle in front of me to avoid a serious accident. Prior to the incident the brakes were working fine. This is an extremely dangerous and serious failure mode. I have seen other reports of this on the web and it is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or killed. . .

The brakes drag very badly on this car, presumably due to some failure of the anti lock braking system. This brakes are badly overheated all the time, which is a safety defect, and, even with disc brakes can cause failure. The master brain for the brake system is located where it's guaranteed to be splashed by water and where any leakage from the transmission or engine is gong to foul the connections.

The only reasons an accident was avoided was that no one was in front of me ,and I resumed my rate of speed. I ended up 10 feet from a busy street before the van stopped. My small children were in the van with me at the time. I also feel fortunate that only 1 brake failed.
