I have a 2010 Dodge Caravan the first issue was the transmissions took it to a dealer who checked it and said the problem was in the computer did an upgrade corrected some of the problem still having problems with it shifting the second issue was the ignition switch which I took it in due to a recall I received bought the vehicle used so the recall had no been done after recall was completed now having trouble with head lights never had a problem until switch was changed when we got it back noticed that when key was in head lights came on this vehicle does not have driving on auto head lights according to paperwork I have shortly there after when turning on the headlights they flash a couple times and go off unable to get them to come back on now the lights come on when ever and go back off will not do anything unless a ken is in the ignition and then just flash once and go back off took it to the dealer who in their words after checking thought the tip was bad and wanted $900. 00 with no guarantee that would fix it I see a lot of complaints from owners while doing research to try and fix my problem about other vehicles with same from 1999 to present it appears to me Dodge has a problem they are not fixing maybe they need more bail out money.

While traveling at 70 mph on freeway, the van came to a total stall. It had to be towed off freeway. It was found the timing belt had been broken before the usual lifetime limit of 100,000 miles.

My first gas tank fill after purchasing the used vehicle resulted with constant stalling for the next 1/2 mile. This has been going on for the last 4 years. I do not overfill the tank. The vehicle now stalls about 80% of the time after I fill the tank. After about 6/10 th of a mile ,the problem corrects itself. One time I come very close to having an accident when after leaving the gas station I was going down a hill and had to make a right turn at an intersection, the vehicle stalled out & I had to put the gear selector in neutral to try to restart the vehicle while it was moving & making a right turn at the same time ! I am now forced to park the car for a few minutes after fill up before I can safely take it back on the roadway. This is an ongoing problem for the 2004 -2007 Chrysler & Dodge minivans. I have viewed many complaints on line about the same issue. Does someone have to give up their life before a recall is issued? there is a defective valve in the gas tanks & the tanks have to be replaced !.

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Caravan. While driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle began to decelerate independently and lose power. The failure was sporadic. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the power train control module would have to be replaced. The failure recurred after repairs. In addition, when the turn signal was activated the opposite turn signal light would illuminate erroneously and the oil warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the mechanic advised that the power train control module would need to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the transmission began to shift when making a turn or when driving 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that there were no failures. The contact had the transmission inspected five times however, the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,000. The current mileage was 40,000.

My 4 children were in my van while it was parked and my 5 yr old got into drivers seat and pulled gear shift in reverse and van rolled down driveway, across road, and over an embankment and it totaled the vehicle. This should not have happened, the gear shift should not have moved while it was in park without the brakes being applied to get it out of gear. My daughter had to have stitches as a result of this accident. They could have been killed.

The vehicle would not shift from second gear and, once it stopped, it vibrated excessively. Upon further investigation, the contact found metal shavings in the transmission pan. There were no recalls available for the failure and the vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were less than 138,000.

Car has been making loud "pop" sounds when steering wheel is turned to the left. The sound is not continuous. It may not happen again for another 2-3 weeks. Car continues to drive until it happens again within another week or two. It came to complete halt while turning in my driveway on may 10th 2008. Towed car to firestone Sunday may 11th and on Monday may 12th was told that they could not hear any sounds when driven and could see nothing wrong from inspection. Knocking sounds could possibly mean transmission. My car was driven home from firestone by my brother-in-law who also did not hear any sounds. Sounds occur randomly when you least expect. On Wednesday may 14th my brother who works at a Ford dealership drove it to work for a second opinion they too can see nothing wrong with the car. I am very frightened to drive this car fairing the worst is yet to come. First occurrence was on April 22nd 2008.

Cracked flywheel on 2005 Dodge Caravan with 60,000 miles. Have read or heard numerous complaints online and from garage owners about this faulty flywheel. Causes vehicle to lose all acceleration and jerk erratically. Very dangerous,especially in traffic. Flywheel replaced. Expensive.

2004 Dodge Caravan sxt. ' whine' noise and high frequency vibration in the steering wheel. Noise is most noticeable in cold weather and when wheel is turned right or left. Vehicle has 54 thousand miles now. Dealer did a factory bulletin on this issue at about 30 thousand, did not fix problem and resulted in the smell of fluid/chemical in the passenger compartment that was very slow to go away. Disgusting !.

1991 Dodge Caravan. Consumer writes in regards to anti lock brake system recall and seeks reimbursement for repairs. The consumer stated he paid for the repairs on April 20, 2006 and was charged $376. 73, even though a recall had been issued. The consumer experienced abs problems again in December 2013. The consumer stated the recall letter stated if the problem occurred again, Chrysler would cover any repairs. The dealer informed the consumer, he had to pay $112 for a diagnostic test, to see if the problem would be covered, under the recall. The dealer then informed the consumer, they didn't have the equipment to test his vehicle, due to the age. However, a few days later, the dealer informed the consumer, they had the equipment, but it would cost $336. The consumer declined the test. Also, the transmission, starter, fuel pump, ignition coil blocks , serpentine belt, pulleys, power steering pump, and radiator were all replaced. Updated 04/16/14.

The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Transmission ------------ sudden failure of all forward and reverse gears. Key off-on brings back forward drive for about 100 yards then fails again. No reverse gear at all. Computer diagnostic indicates 3 transmission errors related to shifting. Sensors look ok. Shop had to rebuild transmission at a cost of over $2,000. Brakes ------ extremely excessive wear of front brake pads. Must be replaced at least once a year now. First time it occurred it destroyed one brake rotor -- had to replace that. Now, at the first sign of brake squeal I must check and replace the pads as they are close to wearing out. Generally get less than 15,000 miles per set.

The first time my transmission went out was when it had 29000 miles on it on October 1999. Oakland Dodge replaced the torq conferter and overhaul the transmission at their cost. The transmission went out again after a little over 36000 miles later and now they blamed it on a broken torq converter and put in a remanufactured transmission at my cost. Also this vehicle had 3 serpentine belts replaced in one year because of shredding. It is amazing to me how many people have problems with this vehicle and that there isn't a recall on their transmissions. I will never buy a Dodge Caravan again.

The transmission malfunctioned fourth gear which caused the vehicle to lose power.

Bought a 2003 sport grand Caravan on Dec 30, 2003. The same day, I discovered the vehical vibrate on reverse on gentle slope. Later, test drive two other new 2003 sport grand Caravan = less vibration. Test drive 2002 (13000 miles) sport grand Caravan = no vibration at all. The dealer acknowledge the problem and refuse to fix the problem because there is no recall from the manufacturer.

Consumer states while driving the vehicle without warning the vehicle would lose power when it rains. Consumer states the steering wheel would lock up. Ts.

My speedometer is moving eratically back and forth.

The speedometer in my Dodge van flicks on and off, on and off. Much of the time while driving, I don't know how fast I am going. And the on/off behavoir is very distracting. It always draws my attention from the road. This vehicle is dangerous. I am trying to work with Dodge to make repairs, or to repurchase the vehcile, but Dodge is very uncooperative. Repeated warranty service has not succeeded. My complaint letter to chyrsler coroporation went unanswered for two months. Finally the zone manager, myron abbott, called but this was useless. I have tried to get more help, or a repurchase from mr. Abbott, but he avoids me now. Always he will 'check and call right back. ' but he doesn't.
