Vehicle began making whining sounds and started to shift erratically. Consumer was advised it needed a rebuilt transmission. Consumer had the work performed, only to have it go out again. This time a factory rebuilt transmission was installed, which subsequently failed also. A total of four (4) times the transmission failed.

While driving at highway speeds vehicle began to stall. Dealer was contacted, informed consumer that transmission failed and needed to be replaced. Please provide further details.

Transmission failed while my wife was driving home from my daughters home which is about 3 miles distance. On the way home ther is a one mile stretch that has a 50 mile speed limit. My wife said that the van never got out of low gear on that stretch. When she got home ,I immediately went and took the van for a test drive, and found that what she had told me was in fact correct. The van does not want to kick into high gear . She drove it home in 2nd gear.

Consumer states transmission failed, consumer paid $2,500 to replace sensor and transmission, manufacturer notified.

Transmission failed and was replaced, consumer feels the manufacturer is aware of the problem and should reimburse her for the replacement of the faulty product.

Pulling out of a parking spot, transmission completely failed. When I shfted into reverse to pull back into the parking spot and call for help, there was a very loud thunk and the tires locked up and the car would not move.

Complete transmission failure without warning. Repair shop says the only fix is complete overhall or replacement at a cost of about $1,850. 00. With only 41,000 miles on this vehicle, one would expect some compensation from the manufacturer since they have been well aware of these early transmission failures on these Caravans for quite a while.

Transmission failed without warning. Parts were so badly damaged that nothing was salvagable and a new transmission had to be rebuilt. We have kept the parts if they are needed for an investigation. We notified Dodge who said they were not responsible for any repairs, and that we have no appeal to this decision (amey, file no. 8723066). We had a mechanic fix it. The charge was $2,417. Is there any course of action we can take against Dodge? it doesn't make sense that a transmission could fail in this way with so few miles on the car.

Transmission failed completely. Problem is epidemic with 6-cylinder equipped Caravans. Our 1991 Caravan has had the transmission rebuilt three times!! I believe this should be a recall and the manufacturer should be held responsible for all costs incurred as a result of this defect.

I contacted Dodge and was told this was not a common problem, however since my transmission failed, I have heard from several people that Dodge has this problem with their minivans between 75,000 and 85,000 miles. I even spoke to a mechanic at a Dodge dealership who said that it is fairly common.

While driving the transmission failed, the pin went trough the case and caused the front end to lock up and the van went skidding down the road I had no steering the gears were on the road surface. This happend a second time with the transmission that was put in at 61000. Miles. I am currently on my third transmission and fearful that at a highway speed this catastrophic mechanical breakdown would cause a major accident.

The transmission just failed after 48,000 miles. We purchsed the car used in August of 1999, and it failed 6 months latter after we had driven only 10,000 miles. We had it towed to the dealer, who inspected it and said that ( I think)the drive pin had broken and torn out part of the casing of the transmission. We could not afford the extened warranty at the time of purchase. The dealer stated that Chrysler would replace the transmision if we would pay for the labor. I expected a transmission to last far longer than 48,000 miles. Am I wrong in my assumption?we will have to use most of our meager savings to pay for the repairs, but we are greatful to still have a vehicle to get around in. Please let me know what you think. Other people may have similar problem with transmission failure. At 5000 miles I find this unacceptable. Chrysler 's customer service leaves alot to be desired.

While driving the overdrive transmission failed causing the van to suddenly begin to loose power due to poor construction and design, as the consumer continued to depress the accelerator the vehicle continued to slow down until it would no longer move. Nlm.

Transmission fails to stay in park gear, allowing vehicle to roll down the street.

While traveling at 55 mph vehicle lost power and did not go into third or forth gear. Vehicle would not go over 20 mph, it almost resulted in a rear end collision. Dealer said that transmission totally failed and needed to be replaced.
