The problem with my 2012 Dodge Caravan is driving along easily on city streets because with this problem it cant be put on the interstate, when getting ready to go up a hill and it goes out of gear, the rpm hand goes as far as it can go, sometimes easing of the gas the rpm hand will go down to 1 and the transmission will knock, check engine like will come on and it'll go back into gear, but sometime you'll have to pull over and put it in park and turn it off and start all over again, just for it to do the same exact then, and remind you, you can't go over 50mph if 50. I've had the transmission sensor flashed and that didn't help, I had it put on a machine and it reads 6th gear out of ratio.

Needed to replace input/output transmission sensors. Not only have we had this done but a number of 1999 Caravan users we have spoken with have had this problem.

While driving at 35 mph consumer heard a loud clunking sound and the speedometer dropped to zero. Also, vehicle would not go out of first gear. Dealer examined the vehicle, and found that the transmission sensor was burned out. This problem occurred again in December 2003, and the dealer repaired the sensor again.
Transmission failed twice during the warranty period. Dealer informed me of unknown cause of the problems (transmission sensor) to go bad twice, but was happy to replace it for free (suspicious, nobody does this for free unless there is a problem). Notified Dodge since it was nearing the end of waranty and filed a complaint.
