5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

Bought this vehicle about 5 years ago from a local dealer with 28,000 miles on it. The previous owner bought it new. I have all the service records of what was done to it including oil changes every 3,000 miles. Have always treated it like a baby and bragged about it. Now has 84,016 miles on it and about 3 weeks ago the engine started knocking. Took it to a local Dodge dealer and was told that it is a lower engine knock and that I needed a new engine. Called Dodge to see if they would stand by their product up to 100,000 miles and was told their was nothing they could do about it. I believe they should stand by their product to at least 100,00 miles. Now I have a useless vehicle and nothing to drive.

There should be some sort of favor given on the matter . Out of all the engines I have owned as well as worked on this is the only that has had this as a common failure and it really needs to be addressed.

Complaint #10734989 7-19-2015. No response from you. Calling and sending e mails since October 2013 not just your department! no one will help. You, Dodge or the person when I was sitting on the side of 71s. & promised someone would call me back - OH it was Friday afternoon and everyone was leaving work! no one will help me resolve this. Do I and have to get killed before anyone will start to listen! purchased this vehicle in July 2010. When driving at a speed of 65, long distance the engine light comes on, slows me down to 45. The engine makes the loudest whinning (like something is stuck under the hood) like it wants to blow up!!!pull over - wait til the light goes off. Temperature gauges do not show overheating. I've started replacing parts. Still light comes on and slows me down to 45 I actually am very upset about no one helping me. I was told to take to dealer when it does it. . I did and they can't find anything wrong because light is now off to drive it there. They tell me to leave it and they will go thru it. "I don't have the money to have them do this" my life as well as my grandchildren, father, me and anyone that I have had in this car is at risk. Being on the side of the expressways or exit ramps waiting for this light to go off with semi's, cars, flying by. People are driving off roads with distracted driving hitting people parked on the side. I don't want to be a fatality! my grandchildren were in the back seat and I was parked along i96. My father (alz) was in the car while I was parked on us23. My husband and I. . . When do I get help. When someone is dead. Please please is it the cvt!!! I don't know anymore. . . . I was depending on you to help me or Dodge. I have to drive to nc and I am actually scared to drive the distance.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2002 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 07/20/2014

I bought the subject pickup in 2014, I found after driving it that the engine would lose power, wouldn't idle smoothly, and it would backfire thru the throttle body electronic fuel injection. The problem was and is intermittent, it sometimes happens when pulling into traffic, making me trying to pull over to the curb. I took it the local Dodge dealership [rocky top Dodge, sevierville TN] to have it fixed, they tuned it up, cleaned the throttle body and a few other things and said it was ok. I paid them $650+, pulled out of the dealership, and there it was doing the same thing. I immediately turned around went back to the dealership, they kept it for 4 more days, then told me they didn't know what the what was and couldn't fix it. I been driving just about everyday since with this problem. I tried contacting Dodge, they were suppose to have a regional rep contact me, that never happened. It just amazes me that I am the only person in the country having this problem. I did take it upon myself to change all of the engine sensors, that costs me $300 to do it myself. I am just highly frustrated with Dodge that they can't tell me what's wrong with this truck and fix it. I need help since it's a safety issue.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

My Dodge Dakota with the 4. 7 engine races all the time. When I first start it, it races and it also does it when shifting gears. When I go from one gear to another I have to put it in neutral until it stops racing and then put it in either reverse or forward. It also does this when I come to a stop sign or red light it races and I have to push harder on the break pedal to keep it from going forward until it comes down to normal speed. I don't know how many times I came close to hitting the person setting in front of me from the engine racing.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 03/26/2012

I have owned a 2003 Dodge Dakota v6 for the past 3 years and never had a problem until I took it to the dealership in union city GA yesterday for a routine oil change. After waiting 2 hours, they told me they were having a problem getting oil in the engine because there was sludge in the engine which was causing the oil to go in slowly. They recommended adding an oil additive. An hour later they returned my car to me. I started driving out of the lot my car was running rough. Two blocks later the oil light came on, engine started a little ticking and ran rougher. I turned around, driving about 5 mph, barely made it back to the dealership. They said there was 6 qt of oil in the engine. They would have to start over. Half hour later, they came out and said now they had no oil pressure at all and they would had to remove the oil pan and maybe have to replace the oil plump and other parts. I may need a new engine or have it rebuilt. They would call me today and let me know. Mind you, I have never had a problem until they did the oil change this time. Now that I check the computer, I find hundreds of people have a problem with sludge and loss of oil pressure in the Dodge Dakota for no reason. This is very dangerous. All of a sudden there is no oil pressure while you are driving.
