So the first time I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my Durango. I attempted to start the Durango and it just kept turning but would not start. At first I though it was my fuel pump. Then I looked at the fuse and the fuel pump motor fuse was a little brown on the pin. So I replaced it with the horn fuse 20a and I when I turned it to the on position I could hear the fuel pump. During the second time this happened I was I a hurry to work. I got my kids in to drop them off and I got and and tried starting it. Same thing it just keep turning but no start. I check the fuse again and the fuse is really burnt but not blown. So I wait for my wife to get home so I can buy another 20a fuse. I replace the 20a fuse and it starts. Third time this happened yesterday 6-30-20. I checked the fuse and the fuse still looks good. Did my research and found out previous Dodge Durangos have been recalled with bad puel pump relay switch failure. Now my Durango sits outside because it wont start. The bad relay switch is something that needs to be looked at with newer vehicles. I've noticed other 2014 owners are experiencing this.

My 2011 Dodge Durango was in park and running when my front windshield wipers came on, and I could not shut them off. I also came to realize my steering wheel and dash accessories were inoperable (including my horn and blinkers). My traction control light came on along with fcw/ acc system failure light. I brought my Durango to the rainbow Dodge dealership. They advised me that the steering angle sensor needed to be replaced, but the part was on back order. Since they did not have the part, I ordered the part myself and had it replaced. Changing the part did not fix my problem. I went back to the dealership to let them know I changed the part, and it did not fix my problem. I asked them how did they know it was the steering angle sensor, and what did the scanner show. . . They told me that they did not put my vehicle on a scanner to diagnose the issue. (which they charged me $147 for that diagnosis. ) I have to plug in/pull out my wiper fuse to use when needed. I do not have blinkers or a horn. This sounds like a similar recall on the esc in the 2013-2014 models where there is a debris covering disabling proper connection to my traction control system. It is dangerous to be driving without blinkers and a horn and faulty windshield wipers.

For weeks my 2013 Durango sxt won't lock when pressing the key fob and sometimes when I unlock the car, the horn goes off several times, as if I'm locking the car. I've replaced the battery in the fob, so not sure why it's not working properly. My liftgate lock stopped working for a month and recently started working. My check engine light is on and the car randomly has a delay in starting. I'm reading that it could be a fuel pump relay and the 2013 Durango has a recall for it, but my VIN isn't included in the recall even though it had a tipm recall that was repaired, which is closely associated with the fuel pump relay recall.

Air bag warning light came on in my vehicle. I placed a service request to get it checked out on 03/29/19. Landmark Dodge inspected the vehicle, but was told that a special part needed to be ordered. When the special part was delivered, I then had to make another service appointment to get the part changed/fixed. Unfortunately the next availability wasn't till 05/23/19. I came in on this date to get my vehicle service. After inspection, I was told that another part had to be ordered to fix the air bag warning. I was told that I'd be contacted once that part came in. It's 07/02/19 and I haven't heard anything from the dealership. Another issue I found later, while driving was that my horn does not work. It is believed to have been disconnected. I believe this to be very dangerous to operate vehicle without horn, and without my airbag system functioning properly.

I was driving on the freeway during a very bad rainstorm at night on January 16th, 2019. I was traveling around 50 mph on the freeway, in the number three lane, when my car shut off, where I lost complete power to my engine. My speedometer dropped from 50 to 30 mph immediately, leaving me with no power, to barely make it to the emergency lane. No power, no brake, no steering-nothing. My horn was also honking, my headlights flashing, windshield wipers attempting to move but unable to, and speakers making weird noises. And to make things even more scary, my 9 year old son was in the car with me. This is an issue that needs to be investigated, and possibly issue a recall. I feel that I am extremely lucky that my son and myself were not severely injured or even killed, with my car shutting off like that without warning. If I had not been able to cruise to the emergency lane, no doubt we would have been struck at a standstill by oncoming traffic, averaging 50-60 mph. I am extremely concerned, and this is a huge safety issue. I brought the car into the Dodge dealership, where I was told that it was from the rain and it shorted out my electrical. That's it. That's it? there should be a better explanation, and action taken to prevent something like this from ever happening. That car shutting off without warning from 50 mph to 0 mph on a freeway could have cost my son and I our lives. I am expecting to hear back from Dodge regarding this very dangerous problem that occurred, and I have also read about similar complaints with the Durango, so I know this is not a fluke. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
While using the vehicle on marksheffel rd we noticed that the horn was not working. That was our first sign for concern. Shortly afterwards while at a stop light we noticed that the steering wheel controls were not working either. Lastly we noticed that there are multiple indicators on the dashboard that are displayed indicating a failure somewhere. One of the indicators relates to an airbag. The vehicle is only a few years old. According to many forums and reports online this is a recurring Dodge issue that they fail to fix year after year. They have had recalls for this issue on other vehicles and years but not this 2015 Durango and they will not cover it under any warranty. They should have had this issue resolved by now considering it has been going on since at least 1997. We drive our kids in this vehicle and feel that it is cause for concern but feel we should not have to pay for their mistakes.

The tipm has caused my vehicle to stall. My window wipers come on automatically and the fuel gauge has gone down to no fuel even when there is fuel in there. All the dash lights come on in the vehicle while in motion. Horn is honking as well as alarm all while driving. Hazards lights as well.
When I use the key less remote to start the car from outside my car it ideals for about 30 seconds or less then turns off. I try it again the horn beeps once then doesn't start. The radio settings reset on it's own which has happened several times. The console/instrument panel lighting changes from bright to dim when it's still light outside. One of the engine fans turns on/off more than normal and it's louder then it been in the past. I am noticing a ticking noise when the engine is started but no one can seem to find out the issue. Lastly, when accelerating the gas pedal the power lags meaning you can literally floor the pedal and it takes several minutes to get up to speed. All of these issues have happened several times and the dealership tells me there's nothing wrong. Something is wrong because the check engine like once again came on this morning.
The car has always "raddled" since I first bought it. I was told the problem was the tires and that they'd been rotated and should be fixed. I bought the car in June 2017 and have had to replace all 4 tires since despite my many complaints. Yesterday, the vehicle shifted gears while driving, horn started honking uncontrollably until I had to remove the fuse, the screens all blanked out and flashed warnings, headrests voluntarily folding. . . All while my 3 children were in the car during a hurricane. The vehicle was in motion on a city street.
Chief complaint: purchased vehicle used with approx. 30,000 miles on it. Have been experiencing engine/electrical issues which require me to change spark plugs and engine coils about every 50,000 miles. I have done this three time in the last six years costing me about 900+ each visit. I have taken it to several different mechanics for opinions. I recently started getting misfiring again. Repaired again one at a time as well as some spontaneous occurrences that were very frightening. For example: wind shield wipers going crazy, lights blinking, doors locking and unlocking, windows rolling them selves down at night, horn blaring when turning on head lights, and the best one random small acceleration while driving. I have been told I have a faulty tipm. The dealership will not take any responsibility for this vehicle due to it being on year out of the documented recall year. This is very dangerous. Something should be made right.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the parking assist error warning light had illuminated and the vehicle began to decelerate. The left turn signal out warning light had illuminated. The contact managed to coast over to an emergency lane and had shut the vehicle off and exited the vehicle. The contact noticed that the left turn signal light was fine. Suddenly, the front and rear windshield wipers had independently activated, washer fluid was ejecting and the horn was independently beeping. The contact then had noticed that there was smoke located near the hood and had exited her children from the vehicle. The vehicle had also independently locked and was able to retrieve the children because the front passenger door was open. The contacts relative had then opened the hood and noticed that vehicle was ignited into flames under the hood. The fire department was notified of the fire, however, the fir extinguished prior to their arrival. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnosis and the dealer stated that incident had been referred to a special investigative unit. The manufacturer was notified of the failure during the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000. Gb.
The tipm is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all of the electrical functions of the vehicle, including safety and ignition systems. The lawsuit claims Chrysler has long been aware of the tipm problem, but refuses to publicly acknowledge it. A defective tipm can sometimes make it impossible to start your car. In addition, it can cause any of the following: the fuel pump not turning off the airbags not deploying or deploying randomly the engine stalling while driving the horn going off at random times in other words, having a vehicle with a faulty tipm is like driving something possessed.
The issue started with intermittent issues when starting the vehicle (the vehicle would crank, but never turn over) in addition to other problems such as random puttering while driving and the horn going off for no apparent reason. On the date that the vehicle had to be towed to a Dodge dealer, I was unable to get the vehicle to start at all. The dealership's service department discovered that the issues were due to a defective tipm. Upon researching this part, I discovered that this is an extremely widespread issue for this vehicle and that there was actually a national shortage of the part for several months due to the overwhelming number of failures resulting from this defective part. Despite multiple class action lawsuits and the high number of reported incidents, Chrysler has taken no action up to this point to recall the part.
Bought vehicle about 1 month ago and my horn and cruise control were working at time of purchase. Took car home and went out the next day and found out that horn didn't work after almost getting into and accident, so now I no longer have a horn or cruise control on my car.

Was driving down the road then came to my neighborhood --- the road was clear but the turn light up ahead had just changed --- so I had time to make my turn into my neighborhood but when I attempted to turn the vehicle just shut off the -- there were two oncoming cars the one in lead began blowing but the car could not be steered or anything. Luckily the cars had time to stop --- so, I quickly put the vehicle in park and attempted to restart the vehicle. Thankfully it started and I was able to continue to pull into my neighborhood. My 10-year old daughter was in the front passenger side and began to scream when she heard the horns blowing --- this could have been tragic---what is the problem and why are these vehicles still able to be sold. I just purchased this vehicle on Saturday. Then while in my neighborhood I called a friend we test drove the vehicle -- the haul/tow light was on then off -- the right rear light was off the on the way back to be park it came on again-- the passenger air bag light was on then a few minutes later it was off. In addition the vehicle shut off again twice while turning the corner onto another street in the neighborhood.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the engine warning light illuminated. The instrument panel lighting also illuminated while the engine was shut off and the vehicle was unoccupied. The fuel and temperature gauge reading began fluctuating, the horn began to sound independently and the exterior lighting illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician reset the check engine light but the light continued to illuminate. The technician stated that the power train module would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure continued after the replacement of the part. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

I purchased my Durango Feb 2012 and 5 months later (Aug 2012) I have already experiancing problems. Every time I put gas in the SUV; when it gets close to full, no matter the speed of gas travel, it starts spewing out of the tank. I am also having a problem with the electrical system. I started the Durango and noticed the dash lights did not turn on. Tried turning the dimmer switch all the way up, still nothing happened. The interior lights did not even turn on. I also noticed the speedometer, gas gauge, rpm gauage or thermestate was not working. Then noticed the horn, windshield wipers, blinkers, dimmer switch, head lights, door locks, buttons located on the steering wheel (I. E. Cruise control, radio volume and channel buttons and hazard lights) where not working. When any of the doors are open, the interior lights do not turn on. The compass is reading "no bus", which means it is not receaving any information from the instrument cluster. None of the computer information is desplaying either; such as, the compass, milage, door adjar indicator, ect. I also had the Durango hooked to a computer and it kept giving codes for items not working due to not receiving information from the instrument cluster. After getting this information, I started doing some research and found that the 2006 model had a recall on the instrument panel due to the same problems my 2007 model is experiancing. I also noticed that the recall was put out after the manufacter date of my vehicle. In my opinion the electrical panel for the 2007 Dodge Durango needs to be recalled as well. This is an expensive part to replace and as a single mother and this vehicle as our only means of transportation, it leaves us in quite the predicament. I feel this problem is a hazard to my children, my self and the public and needs to be taken care of immediately.

Airbag light comes on when steering wheel is turned to the left. Horn becomes inop. When steering wheel is returned to the right, airbag light goes out. Horn operates again. Suspect fault with the clockspring.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph the horn began to sound, the door locks began to unlock and lock. Smoke began to rise from the dashboard, and one of the engine pistons came through the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to her home where it remained parked. The contact noticed there were holes within the engine and the piston casings were shattered. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed they would not honor the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 07v092000 (electrical system: instrument panel), due to the contacts original dealer being out of business. The failure mileage was 114,050.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Durango. In September 2009 she noticed smoke coming from the electrical instrument panel. A local mechanic stated that the failure was caused by plastic within the cluster panel. The dealer stated that the failure was repaired per recall 07v092000 electrical system: instrument panel; however, when the vehicle was towed to the dealer they found that the recall was not repaired. After the dealer repaired the instrument cluster the horn and seat belt failed to operate normally. The dealer stated that failure was not caused by the recall repair; therefore, they are not responsible. The failure and the current mileage were not available. Updated 12/30/09 also when the consumer unlocked the vehicle manually, the alarm goes off and will not stop. Updated 12/30/09.
Headlight, horn, instrument panel failure on my '03 Durango. Durangos and dakotas have been recalled for a bad central timer module. Chrysler says my vehicle does not fall under the recall. The dealer has done a official diagnostic and found the ctm to be faulty. I will have to pay to have it replaced. The vehicle is unsafe to drive. Updated 02/24/10. The consumer stated shortly after filing the report, his wife had an accident due to the problem mentioned. She was out early in the morning on November 3, 2009 when the headlights failed. While trying to pull to the side of the road, without the use of the headlights, she scraped the side of the vehicle on a roadside metal marker. The scrape went the whole length of the vehicle. Updated 05/12/10.
I was driving and all of sudden the horn started to blow, wipers and lights came on. I smelled a burn odor, radio stopped working. I have no headlights or interior lights. Took it to mechanic, the repair will require taking the dashboard out to get to a computer that may be burned out. Only a dealer can do the repair work which will cost over a thousand dollars in just labor cost. I understand from the mechanic that this may be a common problem in the Dodge Durango.
I received a recall notice in Nov/Dec 2007 from Dodge regarding a recall on my 2004 Dodge Durango. I immediately made an appointment upon receiving the notice and had it repaired on Jan. 2, 2008. The recall was for a wiring cluster behind the instrument panel , it would malfunction resulting in a fire. Recently while on a camping trip with my children, brother and sister in law and my sister and her family the car caught fire. It had been parked since approximately 5:00 the day before. We woke up on Sunday morning and were standing around the campfire and all of a sudden the horn on my car beeped. I immediately checked to make sure all the kids were accounted for and they were. My 12 year old son ran down and yelled back the car was on fire. I looked down and saw flames shooting form the windshield and the top of the car. None of us had a fire extinguisher but someone yelled grab the coolers because it had bottled water in there. We quickly doused the fire with water and extinguished it. The fire dept. Came out and said they believed the fire started behind the instrument panel in the dash. I filed a report with my insurance and the adjuster looked at the car and totaled and concurred with what the fire dept. Had said. I filed a claim with Chrysler and their response to me was that "your car is out of warranty,we're sorry but we can't help you". I am highly upset about this. If I had been driving this car when the problem occurred not only would I have not made it out but my four children(two of whom are in car seats) would have met certain death. I need your help investigating this. My car is at a salvage lot in greensboro, nc and this needs to be investigated. Chrysler didn't even take the time to look at it. Their response is not right and I should not be penalized for their negligence. I really need your help here. Thanks so much!.
Problem started with the headlights flashing randomly, dash and interior lights flashing in sequence with headlights. Duration of lights being out increases the longer they are on. I was lucky I only had a few blocks to drive to get of the road. The next day the door locks, horn, and wipers stopped working also. Having headlights suddenly go out while driving could be a real safety issue. It appears the problem is the body module, which must be installed by a dealer and programmed.

Purchased 2006 Dodge Durango June, 2007 August, 2007-vehicle started violently jerking -engine light came on-was told it was the cam sensor. Instrument cluster also defective and replaced. Electrical problem, causing door locks to malfunction replaced. December 6, 2007, car jerking again-engine light came on - drove it to the dealership - was told it was the transmission- front pump and torque converter replaced. December 18, 2007 mileage not reading accurately-told that the instrument cluster that was installed in August was ?faulty?. Replaced again. January 2, 2008, vehicle violently jerking again- dying in the road, if over 40mph. Engine light on-dealer replaced the cam sensor. -very hesitant that my car was become a threat. February 22, 2008, vehicle jerking, then died on the road at 45mph -able to start it, drove to the dealer-was told it was the pcm. Pcm replaced -cam sensor also. Complained to Chrysler, trying to get answers for this ?lemon?. Was told this time that they were 100% they fixed the problem. Dealer gave me written ?good will? extended warranty on my vehicle for 5,000 extra miles. April 15, 2008. Traveling 45mph- car started violently jerking again and died in the middle of the highway. Power steering gone- struggled to veer of and slow down, losing control. This time, a bus was behind me and swerved, laid on the horn and avoided hitting me. Was able to make it to the shoulder of the road-called the dealership. Towed my car. Have had enough of this vehicle -will not put my family in danger one more time!!!! . Need to be free and clear of all financial responsibility of this car. Dealer now tells me that they are ?hard-wiring? the pcm directly to the cam sensor. They told me that there is a ?glitch? within the wiring that they will simply bypass by putting in a direct connection, thus manipulating original wiring codes. . I will not put myself and 3 children in this situation again, and refuse to pick up my vehicle!.
I noticed that when I used my remote to unlock the doors, it set off the alarm. I pushed the unlock button several times and it stopped the alarm. The vehicle started fine and then went haywire when I hit about 15mph. The locks began locking and unlocking, the horn was beeping, the windshield wipers turned on, my high beams were flashing, and the interior "ding" was going off. It stopped and started again all within a 2 mile trip. Once I got home, the locks would only work manually, the headlights didn't work, and the interior lights were blinking. This morning, the Durango is fine and all components work.
The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the horn works intermittently and the headlights failed. While driving approximately 60 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle is experiencing electrical failure that causes all of the electrical components to indicate incorrect information. Presently, the dealer is unable to determine the cause of failure. The engine size was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 56,000.
Central timer module failed unexpectedly at night, causing headlights, taillights, security indicator and horn to activate intermittently while driving. Vehicle unsafe to operate in this condition. Out of warranty, dealer charges $421. 00 to fix. This follows several in-warranty electrical repairs - remote locking mechanism, rear axle speed sensor and powertrain control module. Defect could easily cause a wreck and poses a safety hazard.
I bought a 2005 Dodge Durango in June 2005. The first 9000 miles were great. No problems. In October 2005 the headlights/fog lights started to go on and off by themselves. The dealership moved the inspections sticker. Did not resolve the problem. They then replaced the sensors and switched, did not correct the problem, they then replaced the circuit board, did not correct. They then had a tech from the factory look at the vehicle. They replaced the module. I picked up the car yesterday and on my way home from the dealer the lights went on and off again. I have sent the lemon law card to Chrysler. I contacted Chrysler again today about this issue. They basically have stated that it is up to the district manager to resolve this problem. I am waiting once again for him to call me back. The horn also blows by itself (this has happened twice), the radio has turned itself on and off by itself twice, the passenger side airbag light has came on when it should not and the drivers side airbag showed that it had deployed when in fact it did not. The outside temperature gauge on the overhead console did not work correctly (only one time. ) I feel that I have been more then patient with these recurring problems. They have put a CO-pilot on the car to no avail.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Durango. When the contact first purchased the vehicle, the oil light would illuminate, indicating that an oil change was needed. The vehicle also shut off at least five times on the freeway. It would usually immediately restart, but then kick back after it would start. She took the vehicle to the dealer and asked about recalls and other complaints and was informed that none were available. She received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 03v528000 (electrical system:wiring:interior/under dash). The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that they did not have the parts available. She took the vehicle back to the dealer numerous times, but was informed that the parts were unavailable. She constantly changed the oil in the vehicle and would go three weeks before the oil indicator would illuminate again. The vehicle began to smoke under the hood and she returned to the dealer. The contact noticed a chemical smell and used an extinguisher to prevent any further damage. Someone attempted to place the vehicle into drive, but it would not budge. The vehicle was then placed into reverse, which caused more smoke emission. The vehicle was towed to the new dealer and the cluster was replaced with a defective part. The contact then noticed headlight, dome light, vanity light, and window issues. She took the vehicle back to the dealer and they charged her for the diagnostic and stated that the cluster was defective. After they repaired the cluster again, the issue seemed to worsen and the horn began honking intermittently. She spoke with the dealer and manufacturer, but they offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 72,300 and failure mileage was approximately 5.
I own a 2003 Durango with 20,000 miles. After done shopping went to parking lot and hit the unlock button on remote. Horn started honking, lights flashing. Thought I might have hit panic button but didn't think so, so I hit all the buttons again, put key in ignition and started car but horn still honked and lights kept flashing inside & out. Could not stop it. Started to drive home and lights would flash intermittently and horn honk intermittently. Stopped at store to get batteries for remote key thinking there was some computer problem and signel wasn't right. Still would not stop. Continued to drive home on interstate highway when I lost the headlights and taillights. Four way flashers kept flashing. Before I could get to exit highway patrol pulled me over. Said that was the second such incident that day with a Durango. He called a tow truck for me and we towed it home. The next day I was able to drive it to dealership. They replaced the central timer modual. Dealer states they have had several Durango's with this problem. Since the car is still in warranty I did not have to pay.
While driving at any speed the horn honked and the head lights flashed off and on without warning. Please provide additional information.
First the horn started going off all by its self and they said that happens every so often. It could be electrical they said and tried to fix it. I got my new Durango back and then it over heated. I was on I-95 when then it over heated. It was towed. They said it was the electrical problum with the horn and they couldnt get it to overheat. Mabey it was a glitch in the system. They said. Then it wouldnt crank , three times this happend. They had to tow it. Costing them a little money. Well accualy it cost Dodge well over 350. 00 plus cost of trying to figure out whats wrong. And keeping a vehicle I pay 556. 00 per mo. For. I know this may be a small problum to you but someone said something about a lemon law should be in afect. I just want my vehicile back because I still have to pay for this SUV. While there( trying to figure the electrical problum out ) im tierd of this please help!!!!!!!!!! I have two kids and this is the 2nd car ive purchased. The first one I bought I was saticfied with, but got to small for my new family. I love my SUV and paid 35,0000. 00 and it wont even start. It drains the battery all by its self overnight.
Horn on steering wheel does not operate at all. Took to dealer over 2 months ago. Dealer said that parts are on back order for the horn. As of this date, parts still not available.
