1 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/05/2026

Radio screens keep going bad causing the backup camera to not work until after a power cycle of the screen takes place. Sometimes a power cycle is not possible and the screen take a minute or two to turn on. I have had multiple radios in our car do this. I was told at the dealership that stellantis admits they have a design flaw which causes the radio to overheat and melt the components in the radio unit. This is a series safety concern, not only because of the backup camera not displaying but a possible fire hazard if components are over heating.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

After purchasing a used 2023 Dodge Durango gt, issues arose almost immediately following delivery. I took the vehicle to a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/ram (cjdr) dealership for inspection and service. Diagnostic scans revealed multiple stored and active fault codes, including but not limited u0415 / u0401 – implausible or invalid data received from abs / ecm / pcm b195f-12 – power liftgate chime control circuit short to battery b15a1-00 – active electrical fault multiple body control, module communication, and liftgate-related fault codes the vehicle experienced intermittent starting failures, creating safety concerns including: potential inability to move the vehicle when needed, including in traffic risk of being stranded in unsafe locations uncertainty regarding whether the vehicle would reliably restart after being shut off the vehicle was removed from service and sent to an authorized Dodge dealership for further diagnosis and repair. The manufacturer/dealer elected to replace a fuel line as part of the repair process to address the starting hesitation. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Dodge service department. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. Symptoms occurred intermittently and without consistent warning lights, including: delayed or hesitant engine starting requirement to press the brake pedal firmly in order to start the vehicle intermittent electrical system fault codes retrieved during diagnostics symptoms first appeared almost immediately after vehicle delivery. The vehicle has a documented history of multiple electrical communication faults, including body control and power liftgate chime control circuits. The selling dealer (westside Hyundai) was unable to retrieve these fault codes, resulting in the vehicle being out of service and pairs being coordinated at their expense. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/23/2026

I am filing a complaint regarding a known defect with the rear racetrack taillight assembly on the 2017 Dodge Durango gt. The rear racetrack taillight allows water and moisture to enter the sealed housing. Over time, this causes condensation buildup, corrosion, and partial or complete failure of the led lighting. In my case, the racetrack light has gone out and shows visible water inside the assembly. This issue creates a safety concern because the rear lighting becomes dim or nonfunctional, reducing visibility to other drivers, especially at night or during rain. In some cases, the electrical issues may also affect other vehicle lighting or electrical components. This problem is widely reported by many Dodge Durango owners across multiple model years, yet the taillight assembly design has not been properly corrected. Owners are often required to replace the entire racetrack taillight at high cost, even though the failure is due to a design defect rather than wear and tear. I believe this issue should be formally investigated, acknowledged, and addressed through a recall or manufacturer-supported repair, as it impacts vehicle safety and visibility. + affects ipc and electrical of vehicle where dimming is not happening and flashes which could lead to ipc failure and high costs additionally. Thank you for reviewing this complaint.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

My vehicle just clicks when I try to start it. The engine will not turn-over; it just clicks. Risk is that there wasn't any engine light warning or anything, and it is 19 degrees fahrenheit with a -14 windchill outside. My vehicle was brought to the Dodge/Chrysler dealership a few times for noises and overheating issues, but they said there weren't any problems. I knew there were issues because my vehicle's temperature gauge would go high for no apparent reason. I've been consistent with oil changes and fixed recommendations of wear and tear.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

My vehicle experienced failure of both the driver-side drl (daytime running light) and the passenger-side front turn signal within a short period of time. On this model year, both components are part of a sealed led headlight assembly with no replaceable bulbs. The only repair option is full headlight assembly replacement, quoted at $800–$1,200 per side plus labor. This is a safety issue because front drl and turn signal failure reduces vehicle visibility to oncoming traffic. Online reports show numerous other 2021–2023 Durango owners experiencing the same problem with the led drl/turn-signal assemblies, suggesting a pattern of premature failure. Stellantis has also faced known issues with sealed led lighting on the Durango’s ‘racetrack’ taillight assemblies, indicating a broader led reliability issue on these vehicles. I am requesting NHTSA review this as a potential safety-related defect, as owners are forced into high-cost headlight replacements due to non-serviceable led modules failing early.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

This specific year and all models in 2021 Durango’s including srt, gt, gt plus , tng , vehicle has a known issue with the driver side drl ( daytime running lights) completely going out and not working very early into its life . I believe this is a safety issue that the manufacturer should fix themselves as it’s a defect wiring / headlight issue that is affecting thousands of customers. Secondly, this car comes with an issue in the taillight not being properly sealed and allowing water into the leds , burning them out and being needed replaced . Both of these issues comes from the manufacturer/ factory and are safety issues/risk known in thousands of Durangos which should definitely be recalled .

17 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/30/2025

We had an issue with an error message in the middle of driving that stopped the acceleration of the vehicle, this seems to be common, looking at forums online. The inspection request is acceptable. The message we receive is "shift to p before changing gears". The vehicle will stop in the middle of traffic and sometimes require a complete restart before being able to shift to drive. This has put myself, my wife, and two children in immense danger as the vehicle can stop at any point in time in oncoming traffic. We've taken it to a dealer who inspected the shifter and they didn't see any issues they couldn't replicate the issue happening. Two separate mechanic shops also cannot replicate this issue consistently. It hasn't been inspected these problems didn't have any warning messages prior to the problem occurring.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/25/2025

My driver side front led turn signal has failed after 42,890 miles. My safety and others safety is affected as my drivers side front led turn signal is no longer functioning which makes it hard for others to know I’m turning left. The turn signal has stopped functioning on Monday, Aug 25th 2025 resulting in it not functioning since. Warning light shows on dashboard in “stored messages” on instrument cluster (pics and video of both can be provided). The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealership or anyone else yet. The vehicle is scheduled to go into the shop late September for brakes (will have them look at code for led turn signal being out). Reading over my extended warranty from the manufacturer and asking a representative; they informed me that the replacement of a headlight assembly was not covered under warranty, but gave no proper explanation why. Only that it’s not listed under covered parts; yet covered parts does state a “concealed headlamp module. ”.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

I am experiencing ongoing and serious issues with the infotainment system in my Dodge Durango. The screen frequently goes blank and enters a restart loop that continues over and over while the vehicle is in use. During these episodes, critical features such as navigation and the backup camera are unavailable. This creates a significant safety hazard: I rely on navigation for driving directions, and when the screen goes blank or freezes, I can easily miss turns or be distracted trying to recover the system. The lack of a functioning backup camera during these times is especially dangerous, as reversing without visibility increases the risk of an accident or injury. I have attempted the recommended soft reset using the power and tune buttons, but the problem persists. I have also taken the vehicle to dealerships multiple times, and their “solutions” have been limited to replacing wiring harnesses or attempting unrelated fixes that clearly do not address the root problem. This not only wastes time and money but also shows that dealerships currently have no remedy for this defect. What concerns me most is that this is not an isolated incident. Many Durango owners across the country are reporting the same issue online, with no clear resolution being offered. This points to a widespread defect in the infotainment system that directly impacts vehicle safety. Drivers are being forced to operate without reliable access to navigation, backup camera visibility, or other safety-critical functions integrated into the screen. This issue needs to be addressed at a national level by Dodge/stellantis before it results in accidents or injuries. Simply replacing wiring or pushing the burden onto individual owners is not enough — a real fix is necessary to protect driver and passenger safety. I wish I could upload the video but I can only attach photos.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/14/2025

I am submitting this complaint regarding recurring safety-related defects on my 2023 Dodge Durango rt. 1. Uconnect failure: the uconnect infotainment/communication box has repeatedly failed, causing loss of access to critical vehicle functions. These failures affect visibility of system warnings, navigation, and driver settings, creating distraction and limiting awareness. 2. Driver-side daytime running light (drl) failure: at just 40,000 miles, the driver-side drl failed. This significantly reduces vehicle visibility to other drivers during the day, creating a safety hazard. What raises my concern further is that I have personally identified at well over 10 other Dodge Durangos in my local area experiencing the same daytime running light issue. This strongly suggests a widespread defect. Both failures directly impact vehicle safety. The uconnect issue undermines system reliability, while the drl defect reduces daytime visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. I request that this issue be investigated as a systemic defect requiring corrective action. Dodge owners should not have to repeatedly pay for repairs on essential safety features. Thank you for your time and attention.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact returned to the vehicle to retrieve a work bag from the trunk. The contact noticed that there was smoke inside the vehicle, and flames were coming from underneath the front passenger's side seat. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with his breath, hand, and a cloth; however, the smoke persisted. The fire department was contacted and arrived at the scene. The fire department confirmed that the fire originated from the battery. No police report or fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair shop by the insurance company for an estimate of the repair. The contact sustained smoke inhalation but had not yet received medical assistance. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

My alternator was overcharging my battery, replaced both. Still having an overcharging "sweating battery" issue. The vehicle has suddenly died at low speed, but was able to start. The check engine light comes on and goes off, sometimes it is off for weeks, other times for a day, the code it sets is always different, even for components that have been replaced. Tells me I have a large leak , a small leak in the evap, egr is shorted to ground, ait is out of spec, etc. Now my transmission has shifted from fifth to third back to fifth to fourth, all while at low speed in cruise control. The speedometer, while in cruise control, will jump to 3000rpm, down to 1500, and between all at the same speed.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

My 2021 Dodge Durango drivers side daytime running light went out around 55000 miles. I do have an extended warranty through the manufacturer, but was informed that this is not a covered part despite it being a known issue and a “max care warranty”. The reason being that it is considered a “bulb” however to replace it requires the entire new left headlamp assembly to be replaced, per the dealership. This is a high cost of around $1650. Regardless of the cost, this is a safety issue and a concern for myself as well as others on the road. A quick search shows this is a known and ongoing problem with the 2021 Dodge Durangos in particular the drivers side daytime running light which does not have a safe, cost effective fix. I ask for you to take a look at the many people who have been impacted and the safety concern associated with this.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

Uconnect box requires service.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

The rear license plate light bulb (right) was out and I went to have the bulb replaced. I was quoted over $1100 from the dealer, as the led racetrack lighting was not properly sealed and is collecting water. The collection of water within the light compartment has caused corrosion within, and the wiring to disintegrate. This is a commonly known, yet not addressed safety issue by Dodge. My vehicle will not pass the MA safety inspection at the end of the month. I have read on-line many, many complaints, as well as have spoken to other Durango owners who have experienced this same problem. I have already replaced the racetrack lighting once on this vehicle due to water collection and the brake lights not properly working. This is a known safety issue that needs to be addressed.
