Dodge Durango owners have reported 1,710 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Durango based on all problems reported for the Durango.
The rear marker lights which are led have shorted and are now inoperative. So at night I no longer have any rear running lights. Also the license plate lights are out. Dealer charged me $254. 00 to diagnose the failed complaint and and found that the rear racetrack light and passenger rear corner light needs replaced. The estimate of repair is $254. 00 for diagnosis and $2746. 26 for rear race track light and pas rear corner light assembly. The dealer who is familiar with problem contacted fiat Chrysler automobiles with reference #931238452 looking for customer assistance with repair and dealer was told that Chrysler customer assistance would only contribute $712. 85 with tax and no assistance for the $254. 00 diagnosis fee. So total out of my pocket would be $2447. 08. I have read that a class action suit is underway do to the enormous amount of failures on 2017-2025 vehicles.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle had started to lose motive power and nearly stalled. The contact stated that the check engine, a yellow "p" and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and shifted into park(p) and became aware that the vehicle was in neutral(n) when the vehicle rolled forward. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed by the mechanic, and it was determined that the pcm needed to be replaced and referred the contact to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle and there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the windows independently rolled down and the vehicle was in park(p) but the vehicle rolled forward. The contact turned off the vehicle but observed that the ignition was in the "run" position and while attempting to restart the vehicle to properly shut the vehicle off, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the starter motor had burned out and the batteries were drained and needed to be replaced due to an electrical failure. The contact requested information from the dealer about the pcm and was advised that he had missed a software update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Vehicle has less than 50k miles on it, drl-driver went out and the entire head unit needs to be replaced which costs over 1k. Common problem with this vehicle. Poses a safety risk while driving with the lighting failure.

Rear racetrack led lightning is failing due to water intrusion. This could also possibly cause electrical issues to the license plate lights and back up camera. When in bad weather, other drivers could fail to see the back of my car, and could get into an accident. Yes, dealer stated that the cost is 1500 to fix. The Durango has 60k miles. Dealer only. No warning just a fellow driver reported my racetrack light flickers and dim.
The daytime running light on the drivers side stopped working. Appears to be a very common problem on 2021 Durangos. After inspection of the headlight assembly, it appears the drl are 2 separate strips which makes it highly unlikely that both led strips failed at the exact same time. This leads me to believe the issue is electrical. I dont want to replace the headlight assembly with an underlying electrical issue and Dodge does not want to take responsibilty and investigate further. They want to replace the headlight assembly. This is an ongoing issue with many Durangos and it needs to be properly addressed.
Rear brake light got water in it and now the brake light is partially out.
The contact owns a 2025 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at various speeds or while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle occasionally stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that during the failure the contact had to restart the vehicle to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel canister and the radio were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 28.

The acc will just turn off without warning. A yellow warning light turns on to signal driver it is not operational. This has happened many times. The warning light also occurs when the system is not turned on. The fcc warning comes on intermittently and states like the acc service immediately. Both of the systems are meant to be safety features however it recommended that the driver pull over turn off the vehicle and restart to restart or reboot the system. Our safety and the safety of others has been put at risk when the system turns off without warning especially when we are driving in heavier traffic areas like when we go to SC to visit family. Terribly hazardous and anxiety inducing. Not at all reliable. The systems warning lamps and failure have been concurrent and began shortly after the vehicle was purchased in March. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but supposedly no code found to authorize repairs. I have copies of all work done on my Durango as well as pictures of the warnings one multiple dates. Am unable to upload at this time.
I was driving home and felt steering wheel shake while on curved road, brakes felt like they wanted to lock up, then everything on dash lighted up looked like a shortage. My foot was still on the gas pedal then car just slowed down by itself. I had to steer vehicle to side of road. I did not panic, I was fearful something could’ve happened if I would’ve had other vehicles behind or even oncoming traffic. My vehicle is available for inspections upon request. Took my vehicle to a Dodge dealership for inspection and I was advised of a recall on my vehicle. Unfortunately, I was advised by the Dodge dealership that no remedy was yet available for my vehicle. I also contacted the manufacturer and they advised me the same as dealership, maybe during the first quarter of 2025 there could be a remedy. The manufacturer stated they would prioritize my case but no specific date could be given. I was given an option for a rental and due to my circumstances I would not be able to afford a rental. (I have to continue payments on my loan & vehicle insurance. ) I purchased the vehicle from dyer Chevrolet vero beach, I did reach out (on 3/31/2025) and asked them why was vehicle sold if there was a stop sale. Salesperson “ cameron andrews” stated “stop sale was not in effect at time of purchase [xxx] and it came out after the fact”. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have been having issues with the start button, the engine cranking but not turning over. It will crank for 30 seconds, not start, all the lights come on and usually on the second attempt the car will start. Also I have powered off the radio while driving for a second, then the screen will not turn back on.
Has major issues ….

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rearview camera was intermittently inoperative and there was an abnormal sound coming from the infotainment system. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the infotainment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
The alternator failed, and my battery would not take a charge. Had scanner used and report showed faulty alternator. I was driving and went into a parking slot, when I put gear in park, all power went out. The it wouldn't turn on, occasionally lights would flicker on and off. Tried to jump start it several times but it wouldn't take. Finally got a jump, truck started but the couldn't change gears. I have not taken it yet to get it diagnosed. I truly feel this issue should be a recall as I had no warning whatsoever. My vehicle has no power, and is well maintained.

I recently ran into the issue with "water infilitration" in my racetrack strip on my Durango. I checked into it and it seems like there are thousands with this exact same issue and it is a manufacturing issue with the seals or gaskets. I've o my had my vehicle for four years and the whole racetrack led strip needs replaced and costs thousands of dollars. There is no active recall but this seems to be a wide issueand concern among many Durango owners. I feel as this should be replaced at the manufactures expense due to faulty equipment. The tail lights work but the main leds in the lighting is out and also the license plate light that is controlled by the same lighting is out as well. This is not only my concern but a huge safety risk and financial burden for owners and operators of the vehicle. I'm taking it to be inspected at the dealership tomorrow and if legal action needs to be taken so be it. I've also documents pictures and a video from literal stand still water within the component of my racetrack lights.
My system keeps saying my seat needs serviced for airbag system. Something electric is burning and something is happening with my radio system. It keeps changing to different stations or settings while music is playing.
While driving , the car just shuts off and the steering wheel and breaks lock. No matter how fast you’re going. Took to the mechanic and he said it was the win system.
Racetrack taillight got water inside of it. Full rear taillight is now not functioning and I have no brake lights.
Please read letter in the uploaded documents.
Daytime running light out on driver side. I researched this on internet and just about every Dodge Durango owner is experiencing same.

First we thought the fuel pump went bad due to the vehicle not starting. Pump was replaced and about 3 weeks later the same issue persisted. When the shop investigated it turns out the fuel tank harness and body side connector needed to be replaced due to connections becoming loose and delivering low voltage to the fuel pump causing it to burn up.
My race track tail lights and license plate lights just stopped working all together. This poses visibility issues of a safety concern for those approaching from behind me. No warnings or other symptoms/issues were present. No led lights were burnt out prior to all of the lights not working all at once. They all were working in the morning when I left for work and then did not turn on when I left work that day. I checked the fuse which is fine. All other lights on the side of the quarter panels (ie. Turn signals, reverse lights, tail lights) work and the brake light at the top of the lift gate works properly.

I attempted to pull off from sitting @ a red light & the system electronic stability control along with shift selector illuminated. At that time it causes this vehicle to not move. Transmission light came on as well & everything is blinking.
On [xxx] I drove my new Dodge Durango to sam's club marion illinois. I picked up prescription and attempted to start the vehicle. The vehicle had 800 miles on it. The vehicle would do nothing but click and would not start. The vehicle is equipped with the assist button and I engaged it. The vehicle was sending off codes of transmission codes, air bags need service, and vehicle was not in park. The representative in my conversation went dead as did all communication between vehicle and android auto. I thank goodness was at [xxx] because I was stranded. The manager aaron attempted to jump start vehicle no success. As this was happening a marion police officer was dispatched to find me because the vehicle apparently thought I was in a crash. The vehicle was now rendered helpless. I called and couldn't get ahold of my dealership (who was less than a half mile away). My wife managed to get ahold of another dealership who stated they could dispatch a tow truck and I would have to cover the cost. Aaron stated that we could try a new battery (after placing a tester on the battery which revealed 11. 6 volts and a capacity of 600cca. The new battery was replaced and just like that the vehicle resumed normal operation. I had to purchase a battery and it was 218. 87. The vehicles battery is under the front passengers seat, it is what I would consider a hidden compartment. The core charge was waived so I could take it to the dealership on [xxx] to find the problem. The vehicle was placed on the computer to find out the issues were all from low voltage. I am very blessed that the marion police officers body camera was activated the entire time. As did [xxx] on the lot. I can't express enough how unsafe this situation is. The vehicle was stranded as I was and would not move. The vehicle is all wheel drive and doesn't seem to have a override that will let you move it without a battery that is functional. Dodge refused to reimbursement. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C.

The license plate light bulbs keep burning out caused by moisture/ wetness in the connectors due to poor design of rear lights.
I've read a bunch of complaints about the drivers side daytime running lights having an electrical issue and the lights stop working. It's a common theme that it's only the drivers side which indicates faulty wiring which could possibly lead to a fire sometime. Ours is now not functioning. It just stopped working yesterday and I started to investigate it on my own.
The main control screen acts erratic while driving. A variety of outcomes happen all unprompted - apps and functions open and close, navigation maps bounce locations, phone calls place, radio stations change, volume adjusts, etc. The more worrisome part is the distraction of these things to the driver. And attempts to control the erratic behavior. If not also attempt to turn on, turn off certain aspects (air/heat included) while the system is uncontrollable. Upon researching it - the issue is widespread. Experienced by many others. Is known by the manufacturer that a factory had assembled central consoles with the wrong adhesive. Specifically one was used with a low melting point. When heated by the car heater, it delaminates the screen. Experienced first as some slight bubbling. With each reheat, the adhesive have liquifies again, creating the erratic response by the electronics if not perhaps other more worrisome damage inside the dash as it melts down. Some owners with savvy skills have disassembled the dash, separated the two parts that are adhered with the bad glue (screen and digitizer), cleaned out the adhesive, reassembled without the adhesive and found the erratic uncontrollable behavior of the center console resolved. Dealers quote $1000-$2000 prices to replace the unit, without providing confidence that the new one will be free of the same problematic adhesive. Forums are loaded with owners looking for solutions. Durango is aware. Operation of the vehicle is affected. Drivers distracted. Please look into the issue. It seems both a safety issue and an ethical issue not to fix what is clearly a simple quality issue that has become a profound distraction for so many. This complaint portal does not allow for us to upload videos, but we'd be happy to provide them.
Rear tail light has water intrusion which causes malfunction. Driving at night, can be extremely dangerous as the rear lights are damaged and do not light up, making the vehicle more difficult to see.
Started receiving an auto start error message on the dash. Then after long drives vehicle would not start up without a jump. Went to test battery and it failed while connected to vehicle. I bought a new battery, I installed it, and then tested it and failed the test. I then checked the old battery (not connected) and it past. Which means there a parasitic battery drain. I then changed the engine off and the headlight delay settings to 0, and tested the connected battery and it passed. So the delay settings for the engine off and headlight delay is causing a parasitic battery drain in the 2019 Dodge Durango.
The rear led license plate lights are corroded and need replacing. One does not work.
The SUV has consistent problems with the water pump , thermostat and radiator. They have been changed and replaced more than 3 times in a year. Also the brakes are acting funny.
2013 Dodge Durango started stalling and loosing power but noticed my keys in the ignition every time it moves or if touched it will shut off the car and vice versa. It happens randomly often times when I take a turn it shuts off in a middle of a driving action and could result in a accident. I did some research and notice the win module that in my Durango and other Dodge vehicles have this same issue . To fix this issue seems the whole win module needs replacing. Seems like a defect that can cause a accident.
That slow speeds when you back up or pull forward and the wheels hit a little bit of resistance, everything goes off on the vehicle, wipers do not work, says the adaptive traction control needs service, it says emergency braking service goes out, turn signals do not work, we have been to Dodge. They say they know about this, but there’s no recalls and they tell us they cannot fix it unless it has an active code and as soon as you cut it off, apparently it’s not an active code, although they’re still stored in the system we have a video of showing what happens when it does it sometimes when we just start the car, it will not even go into gear and every hazard light pops up on the dashboard, again wipers will not work, will not go into gear says the traction control is not working. Breaking system is not working, etc. . I tried uploading the video, but it will not allow a video upload while traveling at speed, the speedometer says you’re running 0 mph, you can’t even tell how fast you’re going.
