My race track tail lights and license plate lights just stopped working all together. This poses visibility issues of a safety concern for those approaching from behind me. No warnings or other symptoms/issues were present. No led lights were burnt out prior to all of the lights not working all at once. They all were working in the morning when I left for work and then did not turn on when I left work that day. I checked the fuse which is fine. All other lights on the side of the quarter panels (ie. Turn signals, reverse lights, tail lights) work and the brake light at the top of the lift gate works properly.

On [xxx] I drove my new Dodge Durango to sam's club marion illinois. I picked up prescription and attempted to start the vehicle. The vehicle had 800 miles on it. The vehicle would do nothing but click and would not start. The vehicle is equipped with the assist button and I engaged it. The vehicle was sending off codes of transmission codes, air bags need service, and vehicle was not in park. The representative in my conversation went dead as did all communication between vehicle and android auto. I thank goodness was at [xxx] because I was stranded. The manager aaron attempted to jump start vehicle no success. As this was happening a marion police officer was dispatched to find me because the vehicle apparently thought I was in a crash. The vehicle was now rendered helpless. I called and couldn't get ahold of my dealership (who was less than a half mile away). My wife managed to get ahold of another dealership who stated they could dispatch a tow truck and I would have to cover the cost. Aaron stated that we could try a new battery (after placing a tester on the battery which revealed 11. 6 volts and a capacity of 600cca. The new battery was replaced and just like that the vehicle resumed normal operation. I had to purchase a battery and it was 218. 87. The vehicles battery is under the front passengers seat, it is what I would consider a hidden compartment. The core charge was waived so I could take it to the dealership on [xxx] to find the problem. The vehicle was placed on the computer to find out the issues were all from low voltage. I am very blessed that the marion police officers body camera was activated the entire time. As did [xxx] on the lot. I can't express enough how unsafe this situation is. The vehicle was stranded as I was and would not move. The vehicle is all wheel drive and doesn't seem to have a override that will let you move it without a battery that is functional. Dodge refused to reimbursement. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C.

I've read a bunch of complaints about the drivers side daytime running lights having an electrical issue and the lights stop working. It's a common theme that it's only the drivers side which indicates faulty wiring which could possibly lead to a fire sometime. Ours is now not functioning. It just stopped working yesterday and I started to investigate it on my own.
The main control screen acts erratic while driving. A variety of outcomes happen all unprompted - apps and functions open and close, navigation maps bounce locations, phone calls place, radio stations change, volume adjusts, etc. The more worrisome part is the distraction of these things to the driver. And attempts to control the erratic behavior. If not also attempt to turn on, turn off certain aspects (air/heat included) while the system is uncontrollable. Upon researching it - the issue is widespread. Experienced by many others. Is known by the manufacturer that a factory had assembled central consoles with the wrong adhesive. Specifically one was used with a low melting point. When heated by the car heater, it delaminates the screen. Experienced first as some slight bubbling. With each reheat, the adhesive have liquifies again, creating the erratic response by the electronics if not perhaps other more worrisome damage inside the dash as it melts down. Some owners with savvy skills have disassembled the dash, separated the two parts that are adhered with the bad glue (screen and digitizer), cleaned out the adhesive, reassembled without the adhesive and found the erratic uncontrollable behavior of the center console resolved. Dealers quote $1000-$2000 prices to replace the unit, without providing confidence that the new one will be free of the same problematic adhesive. Forums are loaded with owners looking for solutions. Durango is aware. Operation of the vehicle is affected. Drivers distracted. Please look into the issue. It seems both a safety issue and an ethical issue not to fix what is clearly a simple quality issue that has become a profound distraction for so many. This complaint portal does not allow for us to upload videos, but we'd be happy to provide them.

Rear tail light has water intrusion which causes malfunction. Driving at night, can be extremely dangerous as the rear lights are damaged and do not light up, making the vehicle more difficult to see.
Started receiving an auto start error message on the dash. Then after long drives vehicle would not start up without a jump. Went to test battery and it failed while connected to vehicle. I bought a new battery, I installed it, and then tested it and failed the test. I then checked the old battery (not connected) and it past. Which means there a parasitic battery drain. I then changed the engine off and the headlight delay settings to 0, and tested the connected battery and it passed. So the delay settings for the engine off and headlight delay is causing a parasitic battery drain in the 2019 Dodge Durango.

2013 Dodge Durango started stalling and loosing power but noticed my keys in the ignition every time it moves or if touched it will shut off the car and vice versa. It happens randomly often times when I take a turn it shuts off in a middle of a driving action and could result in a accident. I did some research and notice the win module that in my Durango and other Dodge vehicles have this same issue . To fix this issue seems the whole win module needs replacing. Seems like a defect that can cause a accident.
That slow speeds when you back up or pull forward and the wheels hit a little bit of resistance, everything goes off on the vehicle, wipers do not work, says the adaptive traction control needs service, it says emergency braking service goes out, turn signals do not work, we have been to Dodge. They say they know about this, but there’s no recalls and they tell us they cannot fix it unless it has an active code and as soon as you cut it off, apparently it’s not an active code, although they’re still stored in the system we have a video of showing what happens when it does it sometimes when we just start the car, it will not even go into gear and every hazard light pops up on the dashboard, again wipers will not work, will not go into gear says the traction control is not working. Breaking system is not working, etc. . I tried uploading the video, but it will not allow a video upload while traveling at speed, the speedometer says you’re running 0 mph, you can’t even tell how fast you’re going.

Head rest on driver side with air bag started coming apart for no reason. I don’t see a recall also, water keeps poking into rear tail light. No matter how many times I’ve drained it. I’ve heard this issue is called vehicle fires due to water getting into the electrical. I don’t want my vehicle to catch on fire with me or my grandkids inside. There is zero recalls and thousands of complaint regarding this issue. Dodge really need to do something about this before someone loses their life.
Drive lights on driver side always stop working or work improperly, after looking into it I see its such a common complaint and always on drivers side, Dodge refuses to look into it although it cant be a coincidence that its always on Durangos and always on the driver side exact same light. Theres was no warning lights on dash and fuses are good.

10/28/2024 national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) office of defects investigation subject: report of safety issue - Dodge uconnect radio malfunction the infotainment system in my Dodge vehicle, equipped with uconnect radio, has malfunctioned, affecting safe operation. The radio’s touchscreen has a “delaminating” defect, as described by a Dodge technician, causing erratic, uncommanded screen activity, sometimes leading to unintentional actions such as an inadvertent 911 call. This random, uncontrollable behavior affects critical functions like navigation, radio, and climate controls, creating a significant safety risk by distracting the driver. The issue also impacts the rear-view camera when the screen freezes. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a Dodge technician as a screen delamination defect, who noted this is a recurring issue with uconnect in Dodge vehicles. No other entities, such as police or insurance representatives, have inspected the component, but the dealership quoted $900 for repairs since my vehicle is no longer under warranty. Given that this defect is widespread and the financial impact is substantial, I am filing this report in hopes of a broader resolution. No specific warning lamps or dashboard messages indicated the problem before it began. The erratic behavior first occurred during normal operation and has continued intermittently. I believe this issue should be investigated as it presents a serious safety concern for Dodge owners. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The rear race track light is not working completely and also the license plate lights are corroded and not working. Needs replacement.
Rear light has known issue of water protruding into housing causing a short circuit to occur, therefore causing tail light to quit working including license plate lights to quit working causing me to be pulled over when for equipment not operating to find out then my lights had shorted out. Then to find out to get my license plate light in working order I need to spend 1500+ dollars for a design flaw that Dodge is still manufacturing. The people of the united states need your help getting this fixed.
While driving on the highway last night, my husband smelled smoke and then his eyes began to burn. As he was about to pull over, a flame fell from the passenger sun visor! there was more smoke and fire as he pulled over. The car became engulfed in flames fairly quickly. Thankfully he was alone without other family members (or our dog) and he was able to get out safely. He had to stand on the side of the highway waiting for responders. It was towed and we are in the process of speaking with insurance and figuring out what to do next. Today we researched Dodge Durango car fire and came across the recall from 2014 which specifically said passenger sun visor fire hazard! clearly that is exactly what happened. We have proof that we brought the vehicle to the dealership in 2014 to complete this recall. However it appears based on internet searches that this was still an issue even after recalls were performed. There were no warnings/messages prior to the failure.
My vehicle tends to overheat quite often. The water pump I've had to change five times within the past 5 years the radiator and patch change up three times and the thermostat I've had to change out three times. There's also the transmission shifting gears issue and get stuck on low and I can't move the vehicle.
On the morning of 10/09/2024, I started my 2019 Dodge Durango and exited the vehicle, after 2 minutes the entire interior of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The drivers side seat warmer appears to have malfunctioned causing the vehicle to set of fire, including glass break, paint peeling and interior burning.
The rear led license plates light obtain moisture corroding the electrical as do the racetrack rear light and go out. I have replaced the 2 rear license plat light assemblies and have gone again again causing myself to receive a traffic citation and attorney fee's due to this defect that thousands of other people are filing complaints about. All of the rear body lighting needs to be recalled and reimbursed for these expenses. The license plate led light(2) are not cheap from the dealer. I have also now received a traffic citation for the brake lighting not properly working on the race track lighting so I will be filing this as a legal matter with the courts to be reimbursed a police report was done as I was ticketed for both on 2 different occasions.
I was coming home. As I pulled in my garage, hit the brake to stop and put in park. The vehicle started winding up to a point where my foot on the brake didn't matter. It accelerated forward, going through the wall of my garage, through my backyard, thru a chain guard, and into the corner of the museum wall next door. I was finally able to stop it completely by shutting the vehicle off. Despite the speed and impact to the front of my vehicle, the airbags never deployed.

Backup camera stayed on when car was in drive, park, and neutral. Backup camera also stayed on after I turned vehicle off and opened door. The infotainment system usually turns off once car is parked off and door has been opened. This was very distracting when driving down the road. Picture was when I was in drive at a stop with foot on brake leaving a business parking lot. Taken by passenger.
Red battery symbol lit up on the dashboard noticed electrical burning smell. Stopped and turned car off. Checked around and under hood. Battery symbol went off so I drove short distance back home. Noticed loud whining noise, looked like the start of an electrical fire inside alternator and lots of smoke. Quickly turned car off. My alternator part number matches alternators that are part of a t36 recall involving defective alternators, but for some reason my VIN is not included in the “VIN range” even though my year make and model is. It is the same defective part, which failed, and could cause damage to other parts. The alternator and whatever parts that were damaged should be covered under the recall. This part almost caused my car to catch on fire. Luckily I was home. But what if I was on the road in traffic with my kids in the car.
The engine in my vehicle stalls without warning while driving, which poses a significant safety risk, particularly on busy roadways where it could lead to accidents, endangering both myself and other drivers. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed in the past by a certified Dodge dealership auto shop, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. However, the vehicle or its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Before the engine stalls, the electronic throttle control lamp flashes, the vehicle gives a noticeable jerk, and then the engine shuts down. This problem occurs at any speed but has not happened when the vehicle is at a full stop.
2012 Durango. While driving, battery symbol appeared on dash. I immediately started to pull over , by the time I got to a safe area, there was smoke coming from under the hood. I opened it and saw smoke coming directly from the alternator. After the smoke dissipated, I tried to turn on the vehicle and it would not start. I towed the vehicle home, changed the alternator and the battery with new items from autozone, and the vehicle still would not start. There were no codes popping up as well. Towed it to the dealership and it turned out that it fried the ecm. Why wouldnt there be a fuse or something to protect the computer from a surge off of the alternator. Well, the dealer changed out the computer and with intermittent issues afterwards, the car would not start all the time. Thought the starter was going bad. Changed that and it was still having issues, not starting. Took it back to the dealership. After the dealership replaced the starter (to verify that it wasnt the issue), it turns out the tipm is partially burnt out. So the alternator broke both computers.
While driving the engine began to vibrate violently and the check engine light turned on. Luckily I was close to the dealership because I live in a small town with one major road. I was able to quickly slow down without crashing or causing an accident and slowly drove to dealership. If I was at any significant speed I could have crashed injuring myself and my two small children.

All electrical systems are periodically malfunctioning. This includes power windows, door locks, lane assist, heating and cooling/climate controls, heated steering wheel, screen displays, radio controls, steering wheel controls, shifter, etc. All of these things will turn on and off by themselves while driving. Lane assist has frequently turned on and off while driving and jerks the steering wheel. Park assist turns on and off while driving. The vehicle does not always turn off with the push button stop and has to be attempted several times. I have been locked inside my vehicle because the electric locks will not release without several attempts. Power windows frequently do not work. Back hatch frequently will not release, leaving the back of the vehicle inaccessible. It has shifted into neutral by itself while driving requiring me to pull to the side of the road and physically move the shifter back and forth. It was taken to the dealership where they stated there were so many error codes they could not clear them all. I am currently waiting on an electrical wiring part that they say will fix it because they’ve “seen this before”. It is 1000 miles beyond the basic warrantee and my purchased extended warrantee will not cover the $700 repair because it is considered normal corrosion wear. It is really not safe to drive and it has taken weeks for the dealership to address the issue, waiting on an ordered part that may fix it.

While driving our 2012 Dodge Durango in town, we noticed the battery warning light come on and a hot smell coming from the vehicle. We were not far from home so we limped it back home to the garage to see what was going on. When we lifted the hood, there was a very overwhelming burning smell, our alternator was literally glowing red hot, and there was smoke pouring out from around it. We quickly put out the fire and disconnected the battery. Afterwards, we had it towed to a repair shop where it was confirmed the alternator failed as well as fried our pcm in the process. We paid for the install of a new alternator and pcm, however, the radio remained failed. Upon researching this scenario, we found there was a recall for this exact issue for the exact span of years and engine type, however, our VIN was somehow not included in this recall. That needs to be changed. The alternator issue could have been extremely dangerous for our family while in the car, as well as others around us due to what could have happened if the card didn’t make it home. We could have been stranded on a busy road way causing accidents while the car was engulfed in flames due to the alternator. Also, had we not immediately popped the hood at home to check the engine, the car could have burned down our home. We request that the NHTSA and fca recall company address this issue and the potential for extending the recall to include other Durango vins.
Right headlight fuse will blow, then the blower motor for the front a/c goes out. Replaced in 2023, happened again in 2024.
Known issue of major electrical problems. Fuse block, alternator, and batteries needed to be replaced after car completely died while driving, leaving us stranded at major intersection. Daytime running light also died.
