1 Wiring problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/31/2020

I purchased a 2021 Dodge Durango gt from arrigo Dodge- ft pierce on 12/31/20. The picture they had in the advertisement shows a sport hood. The vehicle was in another county so they delivered it at night to my home. Before purchasing it, I asked the manager to double check to make sure the hood was in fact the sport hood in the picture advertised. He called & checked and confirmed that the hood was the sport hood. It was delivered with a different hood. I believe this is false advertisement. I want the hood that they promised me. Now the even bigger issues. I was washing my vehicle when I discovered a crimped rubber part along the driver's side passenger door. Then a paint defect around the window. Then the door being crooked and not lined with the vehicle. With all the damage to the door, I believe there was trouble on the production line. There is also a piece missing on the driver's door panel at the latch to open the door. The part is not there. The bolt is exposed. On the passenger side front door, when opening, there is a black hose that covers electrical wiring. That part is pulled away from the vehicle and the wires are hanging. I paid $49,000 for this vehicle. It is clearly not put together well. It has defects everywhere. Arrigo Dodge wants to try to repair it. These issues are not repairable, these are manufacturing defects. I am requesting a replacement vehicle with the correct hood as advertised. I did not spend almost $50k for a defected vehicle that they want to patch up. Please help me.

2 Wiring problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/21/2020

My car is currently one of the cars in an open recall with Dodge for the fuel pump relay. I had the fuel pump relay replaced last week 8/10/2020 since that time the car was driven maybe 4 times. The car was parked for the last four days in my garage I tried to drive it today and it stalled after 15 minutes while I was driving thankfully in a parking lot. I attempted to put a new relay on the fuel pump relay wiring harness but it still would not start. After about 5 minutes I would assume the wiring harness cooled enough I could get the car started and thankfully I was only 2 minutes away from the dealership. My car has been at a dealership three times since June 10 and twice in almost 2 weeks. The manufacturer is not helping and is telling me I have to work with the dealership. They are at a lose for what to do since Dodge is not giving them any direction. The car is not reliable nor dependable and currently has a recall on the fuel pump relay to fix the recall that did not work. I would really appreciate some assistance I cannot be the only one with a Dodge vehicle from this recall that is not have issues!.

3 Wiring problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/08/2020

Rear taillight assembly on the Dodge Durango has serious issues at a costly price. The left side of our taillight assembly has collected water and has short circuited the lower left portion of the lighting. You can actually see water pooled up in the lens. I have two neighbors that have had the exact same issue recently. Another neighbor was told he had to replace the entire assembly ($1k+) just because his left license plate light has gone out. I guess it is powered from the taillight assembly wiring harness. I have actually replaced that left rear license plate light 3 times in the last 18 months. Not cheap is $50 each.

4 Wiring problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/18/2019

I was driving down the road and the car lost all power and I was lucky enough to get it off the road to a parking lot before I was involved in an accident. The car then started sputtering and spitting like it does when there is an issue with my tipm. It took 20 minutes and removing the fuse from the fuel pump relay wiring harness to get the car started. I have had the tipm replaced before the mandated recall on the issue and the class action lawsuit. I also have had the fuel pump relay wiring harness added and replaced within the life of the vehicle. Yesterday I was told my battery which was 19 months old, the old one lasted me 6 years, needed to be replaced when I took the car in for an oil change. I replaced the battery even though it tested perfectly fine at the repair shop it was purchased through. Now the car is exhibiting the same symptoms as before my tipm was replaced and nearly caused me to get in an accident yesterday!.

5 Wiring problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/14/2019

July 14, 2019 - while the Dodge Durango is in motion, the dash display suddenly went blank, various sensor lights turned on, transmission gear would not shift, and the wiper blades intermittently turned on. Similarly problem was experienced in may 2019, when the repair shop identified and replaced a faulty bcm (body control module). I took the vehicle to a local Dodge dealership about a month ( June 2019), for the same problem and the dealership identified the wiring harness to be faulty. After some diagnosis, the dealership reset the codes, asked me to drive the vehicle some more to see if the problem reoccurs. It has been a month since I took the vehicle to the dealership and the problem has reoccured several times. I feel this is a real safety issues especially when I have my kids in the car and the electrical issues arises while the vehicle is in motion. This problem is very concerning to me as the problem has occured one time while I was driving on the highway, and three time while driving on city streets. Please investigate this matter urgently as I consider this issue to be a serious vehicle problem or hazard. Any Durango owner and their family could potentially get seriously hurt.

6 Wiring problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

A vehicle that was previously bought back due to the engine and console shutting off while in operation was sold to me by bill luke Dodge in phoenix, az. I was informed that this problem was fixed and that it had been analyzed at a facility for months prior to being put back on the market. When we went to test drive it the salesman did explain that it had been difficult to start, but further explained that the shop would fix any issues prior to it being turned over to us. He stated it was a dead battery problem. The engine light was illuminated. Later that week we were delivered the vehicle and insured that they could not find any problems. This was may 1. On may 3, my wife drove to a local business, and when she returned to the vehicle, it would not start. When it would finally start the engine light was on, and it stayed on for two more cycles of the engine. This happened on two more occasions. On may 6, when the problem occurred again we were able to drive it to a local auto shop and have them run the code. The reader diagnosed that there was a u0100- "lost communication with the engine control module". I drove the vehicle for service on may 7. Over the course of the next several weeks the service personnel have discovered numerous loose wiring harnesses, though they still have been unable to completely remedy the issues. This issue has also been referred to the better business bureau.

7 Wiring problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

While driving, svc awd light comes on, then goes out. No problem there but that is only the beginning. In a slow hard turn on reverse, the wheels seem to bind up with an uncontrolled lock into four wheel drive. With my research into this problem, I discovered many other people with the exact same problem. 72 pages of the same complaint !! some even tell the of car shifting into 4 wheel drive on the highway slowing the car into dangerously slow speed . I traced complaints back to 2004 , all deal with the transfer case shift motor or the wiring controlling it. Also related to the a/c connection, or the awd, 4 high and 4 low lock switch. I experienced the shift into four wheel drive in slow speed turning and backing but to have it shift into 4 lo lock during driving has me afraid to drive it at all. Over 350 complaints of the same problem, with only one web site sounds like a major design problem that Dodge has not addressed at all. Fyi I bought this car used at koch 33 dealer and they did not disclose the problem in advanced. Thanks rich.

The contact also stated that the heater blower motor failed. The heater blower motor remained on the high setting. The contact replaced the heater panel himself, but it did not correct the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.

10 Wiring problem of the 2002 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

My VIN tag: (xxxx) I replaced blower motor, resistor, and plug multiple times on my 2002 Dodge Durango and it keeps melting/burning up. If I leave it on low or medium fan setting eventually it will catch fire, I'm finally coming to you to see if you can help. Owners of the 1998-2007 Dodge Durango's & dakota's all have this problem many will have fires due to it and it's just a matter of time before there is a fatality from it! I was driving home after snow plowing and needed to defrost my windows so I put it on medium and within 6 minutes smelled a strong burning smell. Go home and the wiring had melted the fan, plug and harness. I've changed this part now about 12 times in about a year, low & medium settings cause it so now I can only use high for any use unless I want another fire, 9th time it almost caught because it was dripping plastic about to catch when I sprayed water on it and pulled connection on battery. Mild to wild on rte-34 in orange, CT worked on it as well. Redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

16 Wiring problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/19/2017

While driving every light and gauge started bouncing back and forth. No headlights or brake lights. After shutt it off it continued to do it. This seems to happen anytime it rains or moisture in the air. I have had the wiring harness in the steering column replaced at the dealer and the controller for the blinkers replaced at a local mechanic. This has not solved the issue. Absolutely afraid it is going to die on the highway while doing this. This happened while is was driving but have had it happen as soon as I start the Durango. We have a video that we are unable to download that clearly demonstrates this issue. Dodge forum has other Durango's with this same issue.

Failure Date: 06/03/2016

After purchase, immediately we started having problems with headlight not working, then a rear light and brake light not working. Took in for recall on another part and they discovered it was the electrical, while driving and sitting at lights. Lights on dash, radio, headlights, etc, not work properly or all sudden decide not to work at all. We've taken it back now 5 times. Mechanic says the whole wiring harness is bad and cannot be repaired, but continues to say they called Chrysler for parts to try to repair. While my 83 yrs old dad who bought the car, left sitting at the dealer for 4-5 hours every trip and no rental vehicle available from enterprise or hertz. After sitting there 5 hours today, we had to leave vehicle. This time, we are ready to call attorney for lemon law in missouri.

23 Wiring problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Had to turn car in for service 2 times. First time worked with a replaced part. Waited over 2 weeks for the part to arrive. Then 2 weeks later, it broke. In service - wiring defect.

24 Wiring problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/29/2015

There was an electrical fire inside the cabin of the vehicle from within the headliner, directly above the drivers head, while the vehicle was in motion. The driver was forced to pull off to the side of the road as the cabin filled with smoke due to vision and respiratory distress. There was also additional damage to the exterior of the vehicle on the roof, as the fire burned long and hot enough to cause an unknown amount of structural and cosmetic damage to the roof. The fire department was also called to the scene during the incident to insure the fire was completely extinguished. We initially had our vehicle at a local Dodge dealership on 02/23/15 to have multiple manufacturer recalls repaired. One of which was due to a potential fire hazard from the vanity/sun visor wiring in the headliner (Chrysler recall p36). That recall work was completed, but we began to experience electrical issues with equipment that obtained power and ground (same electrical circuit and fuse) from this same circuit. Interior lights would flash and dim, and then ultimately ceased to function, then our steering wheel mounted controls stopped functioning entirely. We returned the vehicle to the dealership on 3/23/15 after talking with the dealership that previous week. They explained that a "pinched wire" from within the headliner had caused an issue in the circuit. However, they insisted that this pinched wire did not cause the steering wheel controls to stop functioning (which made the steering wheel control module inoperable due to electrical short), even though they shared the same wiring. We were able to retrieve our vehicle after additional repairs were completed on 3/27/15. The car was driven one time on 3/28/15, and then on 3/29/15 the fire started from within the cabin.

25 Wiring problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

Purchased vehicle in Nov 2013. Received recall for brake booster in may 2014 (p14/NHTSA 14v-154). Called and scheduled an appointment. Dealership said that they would call when the part was received. No call to date. Received second recall notice via mail on 12/26/14. Called dealership and they stated that the parts were not coming in very quickly. Recommended I file this complaint with the NHTSA. Also stated that they were doing the second recall for sun visor wiring, received in Aug 2014, in conjunction with the brake booster, when/if the parts arrive. (p36/NHTSA 14v-391). This report is filed to comply with the directions of the recall that state "if your dealer fails or is unable to remedy the defect without charge and within a reasonable time, you may submit a written complaint to the administrator".

26 Wiring problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

27 Wiring problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

While driving on the freeway, I noticed that my 4 lo warning light was flashing on my instrument panel. Once I came to a safe stop, I could hear what sounded like my 4 wheel drive actively trying to engage itself by making a clanking noise. Several days later, it did the same thing, only this time, it succeeded in shifting itself into 4 wheel drive but only for a brief period. Now it does this on a daily basis and will even do this in my garage with the keys out of the ignition. It will also do this when I use the key fob to unlock my doors. Please look into this as there are several other Durango owners who are experiencing the same issue. My worry is that it will find a way to shift itself into 4 lo while either my wife or myself are driving down the freeway. If that happens, it could be catastrophic. This is something that Dodge needs to recall to prevent any injuries or deaths. People have attempted to replace the transfer case, replace wiring, and several other fix attempts but to no avail. As a 16-year career firefighter, I am pleading with you to look into this.

28 Wiring problem of the 2008 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

When and everytime vech. Is refueled, get blowback of fuel. During 1 trip, fuel ran back down outside of fill pipe and gas tank, and hit hot muffler, luckly it did not ignite. Can't fill gas tank more than half way, without this happening. Called dealer, service mgr. Took VIN#, said wasn't cover under recall of any type, but will correct problem with new gas tank for aprox. $1000. Another problem that happen twice now, is elect. System goes out, loosing all power to steering and brakes, this happen twice. One time was while towing camper on interstate highway with traffic, we just barely got off road. Again dealership, said the recall for instrument and wiring couldn't and wouldn't cause car to just shut down as described. But they would be happy to replace the instrument cluster and correct any wiring problems, saying cost could be a few hundred or more. Have called Chrysler 3 times, they taken info. Said someone would contact, never a call back. This car was purchased as a used car from a Ford dealership, with only a little over 10,000. Miles in 2013, 5yrs old and only 2000 per year should of been a red flag, but was told a older gentleman had and Ford dealer showed a carfax report that fit the mileage.

29 Wiring problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

Woke up the day before the fourth of July and got myself and the kids ready to travel out of town. Loaded everyone in the car and the truck wouldn't start. I pushed the button and it acted like it would start but it would never turn over. I tried for twenty minutes and could not get it started. I had to get it towed to the dealership. They first said it was a wiring and it would be couple of days. But then they called back today and said it is the tipm and they are not sure how long it will be because they have to order the part and it will take "awhile" to get it in. This is my only vehicle to get me to work and three kids to all the places they have to be. This is going to be a headache and the price went from 200 dollars to over 1,000 dollars. I could take that and use it on a downpayment for something else. Chrysler is way out of line allowing consumers to deal with a problem that they created.

30 Wiring problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

The tire pressure warning light on my 2005 Dodge Durango limited hemi has been on for approximately 3-4 years. Other than this issue, the vehicle is in excellent condition (50,500 miles). After dealing with several dealerships, I filed a complaint with Chrysler and was given a case number. A Chrysler case manager named "paul" (1-800-763-8422 ext. 66371) notified me via voice-mail today that they will not pay to resolve/investigate the matter. The case manager is clearly avoiding speaking to me by contacting me at my home number during the day, even after I left him a message with my primary contact number. The issue: this vehicle was subject to an instrument cluster/wiring recall in 2007. I obtained a copy of the claim form. The cluster was not replaced, however, the wiring was modified. Apparently, this recall was done due to overheating issues. So far, I haven't experienced this issue. But the tire pressure warning light should not be on - especially given the fact that my vehicle is not equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Clearly, the wrong cluster is installed in the vehicle and/or the wiring modification was done incorrectly as part of the recall. I believe, these issues came to the forefront when the battery was low and/or replaced. The internet/forums are littered with issues regarding the instrument cluster and electrical issues with the Durangos manufactured during 2005-2007. The "labor operation number" is 08-g0-71-82 as part of safety recall g07. I am in the process of obtaining a quote from the dealership to investigate and fix the matter. A rough estimate is the cost will be approximately $1,000. Chrysler is avoiding taking responsibility for an issue(s) directly related to a matter subject to a previous recall. I would greatly appreciate this matter be thoroughly investigated. Please contact me.

31 Wiring problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

I drove to town, stopped and turned off my engine for an 30 minute wait with construction. It started and I drove to visit my son. I turn off the engine, stayed a bit to visit, went to go home and it wouldn't start. Finally got it to start and drove it home and parked it. Drove to town a couple of days later and it died while driving, barely made it to town. Looked for information on the net only to find this is a very common problem and a major safety issue. This vehicle dies while driving and control of the vehicle at highway speeds is highly dangerous. Why hasn't Chrysler issued a recall? are they waiting for someone (or an entire family) to die? is that really what it takes, a loss of life before anything will be done? I've read that it could be the pcm, the pcm wiring harness, or a computer chip/sensor/relay something or other under the air cleaner. No real, permanent, fix at this point, a lot of people are struggling to determine the cause and a fix for this problem. Why isn't Chrysler helping? Chrysler doesn't back their product? no wonder american people opt for imports, they are reliable and built to last. How about doing the right thing Chrysler and step up!.

32 Wiring problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

2011 Dodge Durango w/5. 7 liter engine stalled as I was turning onto the freeway on ramp. Pulled over and started right back up. Thought it was a fluke or I hit something. Stalling occurred again several times while slowing down and making turns. Happen once while my wife and daughter were going to store. She will not drive the car anymore. Went in for repairs several times with no real conclusion or repair being done. Finally went in after one of the stalls and by then the recall was coming out and the tipm and some wiring was replaced. Thought it was repaired when over the weekend it happened again as I was slowing for a stop sign with my wife & granddaughter in the car, then to me again 2 days later. We happen to live in a rural area so there is not a lot of traffic, thankfully. It is in dealership now (second week) and they are saying it needs new sparkplugs (which it does) but there is no way a engine should stall due to old sparkplugs. It's a disaster waiting to happen to anyone driving one of these. Everything up till this tune-up has been covered under warranty. It has stalled a total of around 8 times and all while slowing down and has been in dealership on and off for about a month total.

33 Wiring problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Vehicle would hesitate to start, after several tries it would start. On 11/11/13 when the cruise control was set it accelerated by itself. I was trying to start it on 11/12/13 and 11/13/13, when it finally started it accelerated to 4 1/2 rpm, so drove it to the dealership and I was told it was the tipm, which isnt available, but there are parts to correct the problem. One part would be available in 4 business days and the wiring part won't be available until 12/24/2013 estimated. This id such an inconvenience!.

35 Wiring problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

The power front seats after time come loose in the 20001 Durango and move back and forth on the tracks. Seems like they are moving more and more every day. I read so many other complaints on this web site. Another problem which is common is the wiring burning up connected to the resistor pack on the blower motor. I read stories about how people have to replace the blower motor, resistor pack and plug at the end of the harness. The manufacture should have used thicker wire to handle the current draw for the motor that is installed in the vehicle in the first place. I have been using the original motor for 2 years now I just don't have any speed control now, but the motor is fine. The resistor pack is also fine just need to replace one or all of the wire that are burnt up.
