I recently purchased a 2007 Dodge Durango had it brought up on 12/1/2010. The tank was empty so I went to the local gas station to fill up. Let it shut off by itself when full and there was gas spilling out of the tank after it shut off. I assumed it was the pump. So few days later had to fill again it did it again different gas station. There is something seriously wrong with this tank and a really big safety concern for fire or if you don't clean the gas off the side of the vehicle near the tank right away. I am a mother of 2 small children and this terrifies me. My car has less then 36,000 miles and not even a true 3 years old this should still be considered a factory warranty issue or do the right thing and put as a recall. All you have to do is google this and there are hundreds to thousands with the same issue. . Read more...

12 Instrument Panel problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/08/2009

I bought my 2004 Dodge Durango in 2005 January with 666 miles on the truck. The first year I had no problems at all until about March 2006 I was driving from washington state to California when I notice the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership and had it cut off in California. Well, on my way back to washington state after a week I notice the check engine light came back on I took it back to the dealership for repair. The dealership cut off the light and told me there was a recall out on the 2004 Dodge Durango to fix the instrument panel. So I took the 2004 Dodge Durango back in to fix the recall problem and they said it was fixed. Well, in the summer of 2006 I was driving my 2004 Dodge Durango when the lights starts to go off and on while I was on the highway. It was raining hard and then my check engine light comes on again, so I just left the light on. Now I'm driving around in my 2004 Dodge Durango in the rain when I go to put gas in it when I stop. All of a sudden all my interior lights starts to go on and off with my headlights going off and on. The windshield wipers did not work so I cut the vehicle off for a minute. When I turn on the vehicle I could not move it out of park and all the lights was on. So, I left the vehicle there in a parking spot and walk back to work. I later came back to the vehicle about 2 hours later and I started up the vehicle and the gear shift worked. So I drove back to my office and use the computer to see if anyone else was having these types of problems and what do you know I'm not the only one. I took it to the dealership like I was told by headquarters and they gave me some paperwork to go to me local Dodge dealership. The dealership made me pay for a diagnostic on my vehicle and said it was from water intrusion in the junction block and my warrant does not cover it. Headquarters told me to open a blog and try to get a recall started. But in the mean time call your insurance company. Lives are at stake.

13 Instrument Panel problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/12/2009

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango that I recently started having problems with. Problem 1: when filling the fuel tank the pump does not automatically shut off and fuel comes shooting out the top of the tank. Problem 2: when driving at night the instrument panel flickers on and off. I checked the NHTSA. Gov website and found that there were recalls issued for both of these issues that I've experienced so I took my car to the dealer. The dealer said my VIN is not covered under the recall and that I have to call Chrysler. I contacted Chrysler and was told that the dealer is unwilling to work for any discounts and that because my car is out of the warranty period they will not pay for any services. In both recall notices it states that these issues are both fire hazards and I don't feel that I should have to pay $1700 out of my own pocket to resolve them, as these are known issues with 2005 Dodge Durangos. Please help!.

17 Instrument Panel problem of the 2006 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/31/2008

Hi, my name is kevin moore, and I need some help. January 9th 2007 I purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango from buddy jones Ford in greenwood mississippi. On may 31st 2008, the truck burn to the ground. This occurred while my girlfriend was driving it; she barely made it out of the truck in time. Needless to say I was at a lost of understanding how this could have happen. So I immediately started surf the internet to find information about this brand of vehicle. I discovered that this particular SUV had an instrument panel cluster that would overheat and sometimes ignite into flames. I also discovered that there were many other consumers that had experienced they're Dodge Durango's burning to ground, while just sitting in the garage. So I then contacted Chrysler to plead my case. At this time they told me about the recall, and that my vehicle was one of the vehicles in question. Then they agreed to send a local contracted inspector to check out my vehicle. The conclusion of his inspection was that the truck burned through no fault of chryslers do not have the resources to prove them wrong, or have it inspected myself. My insurance had lapsed at that time, and I know that is my responsibility. But now I am stuck with a truck that is not usable, and the company that financed it is looking for they're monthly payment. With I can not afford because I had to purchase another vehicle to get back and forward to work. So I have done a volunteer repossession and they will pick the truck up soon. Once they get it I still will be forced to pay for it through garnishment, which I cant afford. In the other cases in which this same truck burned to the ground, Chrysler determined that it was not they're fault even with such a recall on them. Vehicles do not just burn up for no reason, so please help deal with Chrysler. Also, I did not receive a recall notice until June 16, 2008.

20 Instrument Panel problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/09/2008

My 2001 Dodge Durango started having problems with interior lights, dash lights, intermittent wipers, door locks not operating, the 4-wheel drive light on, and headlights not working. Checked all fuses and all were good. Disconnected/reconnected battery and all returned to normal. Two days later, while my 16 y/o son was driving the vehicle, the interior and dash lights (later to learn the headlights) were flickering on and off. I took it for a test ride and all seemed normal for first few miles, when suddenly the dash lights and headlights started to flicker rapidly. A few seconds later the headlights went out completely for approximately 5-7 seconds and came back on. The headlights went out again as I was pulling off the road for approximately 7-10 seconds with intermittent interior dash lights flickering. I turned the vehicle off, removed the negative battery terminal for approximately 3 minutes and again all returned to "normal". This defect is well known on the internet with the cause being the central timer module (ctm) and all local Dodge dealers I contacted are well aware of the cause and the fix (avg. Cost from local dealers $690. 00) yet there is no recall for this anomaly. Why? headlights turning off while drivingam I the only person who sees a safety problem here? also, according to the people at chryslers 1-800 customer service center, this is only affecting a small number of vehicles. So what. My thoughts are: one vehicle is enough, and if this is really a true statement from Chrysler, it shouldn't cost the corporation that much to fix those few vehicles. My concern continues with the belief that both Chrysler and the NHTSA know about this failure - which is obviously a safety issue - and neither have taken any positive action for an immediate recall. This situation also leaves me with one haunting question: does it really take a death before anyone takes action??? btw: what does the s in NHTSA stand for again?.

We have had intermittent electrical problems in the dashboard of our 2001 Durango, especially when cold. Devices stop working at random while driving, such as radio, turn signals, heater fan, etc. Turning car off and back on seems to "reset" the system and restore electrical function, but loss of turn signals while driving is dangerous, and who knows what other components will fail? we have heard this complaint from other Dodge owners. Dealers are unaware and cannot diagnose the problem.

1999 Dodge Durango 4x4 bought in sept. 07, within two weeks lost of oil pressure during highway driving just over 150 miles, oil pressure goes to zero and engine light comes on. Had to put 4. 5 qts of oil. Later on during the trip the speedometer quit working unless going above 50 mph. Also at the same time the abs light and brake light illuminated and stays on. Going to start with replacing the speed sensor on the transmission. Hopefully this solves the abs and brake light problem.

35 Instrument Panel problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/14/2007

My vehicle underwent inspection for safety recall #g07. It was determined by the dealership that the electronic cluster in my 2004 Dodge Durango had to be replaced, due to fire hazard. When they pulled the old cluster, an electrical surge damaged the electrical components in the driver's side door of my vehicle. The dealership replaced the cluster, and told me that the driver's side door had been damaged when they pulled the old cluster. They instructed me to pick up my vehicle and told me that it was drivable. They ordered a part to repair the door and told me they would repair it. When I picked up my vehicle, I was not able to open the door from the outside or the inside. This was on June 14th. I have not been able to enter or exit my car via the driver's side door for over 1 week. This is a safety issue, and the vehicle should not have been returned to me as "drivable". I contacted the dealership, and asked for a rental until the issue with the door is resolved. They informed me that Chrysler had to approve the rental, and I would have to pay the rental fees myself. The dealership created a safety hazard in my vehicle, and returned it to me as drivable, and they are going to make me pay for a rental car. The drivers side door on my vehicle has been locked for 9 days - I have been climbing through the passenger side of the vehicle, for 9 days.
