Consumer states the vehicle has a severe motor knock and valve rattle noise which occurs whenever the motor was under any load, the dealer made one computer adjustment that helped a little and made several suggestions about the types of gasoline to use, consumer states when going up a slight hill again under any load the motor rattle noise has recurred to a noticeable degree.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1997 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 09/01/1998

The weld that holds the egr crossover tube came apart causing a melt down in the wires. The weld was replaced by the dealer in December of 1998, and then was replaced again. The mileage on the truck was 31,424 miles.
