7 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. When he shifts the vehicle into reverse, the transmission automatically defaults to neutral. The failure occurred while driving 15 mph. There is a TSB for this defect. Initially, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, but after numerous attempts, they reprogrammed the pcm in the vehicle. The failure still persists, but not as frequently. Also, when the vehicle is started, the rpm's are approximately 1,300 on a hot start and then decrease to 700 within 45 seconds. On a cold start, the rpm's are 1,500 rpm's and decreases to 700 within 90-120 seconds. As a result of the high idle rpm's, the contact experiences numerous transmission issues. The transmission has had to be rebuilt, but he believes that it was caused by the high idling. The failure mileage for the reverse gear transmission failure was less than 2,000. The current mileage was 24,000. Updated 10/27/2008. The consumer stated the vehicle jerked and the transmission slammed into gear. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi. We purchased the truck on April 20, 2004 & started having the stalling problem about 2 months ago. I have since taken the truck to the dealership where it was purchased 3 times to have the problem fixed. Each time the dealership has the truck 2 1/2 to 3 days. The truck does not stall while the accelerator is enacted. The rpm gauge will flutter when stopped & then it will drop & the truck will die. Some days the truck will stall only once or twice & other days the truck will stall up to 20 to 30 times. The dealership has replaced the following items: fault code, p0261, replaced pcm for erractic speed sensor signal. R&r pan & replaced trans filter per star 1763 wd94 0. 80. 5094274aa module-powertrain control, 5015267ac filter pkg-powertrain control, 5010884aa sealer, 5 atf bulk - +4.

17 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/01/2005

I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 laramie 4x2 with 17000 miles. I purchased it from my local Dodge dealer with 2300 miles on it. Around 15000 miles, my vehicle engine light turned on, and a strong burning odor began to come from the cab. I thought the error was serious, and immediately scheduled an appointment with an appropriate five star Dodge dealer herb gordon Dodge in silver spring, MD. Kevin with the orange team, at herb gordon, verified that one issue with this vehicle is the powertrain control module. Unfortunately, the burning smell cannot be identified at this time. As the vehicle is under warranty, the pcm is currently being replaced. While herb gordon has done an excellent job providing me with service, Dodge has scarred me and encumbered my time. I have had to rent while my vehicle is in the shop, my truck smells really bad inside (due to the burning pcm,) and I really do not trust the safety of my vehicle. Why would a pcm go bad after 17000 miles? is the burning smell going to cause a fire in the future? am I at risk in this vehicle?.
