When I started driving the truck the dash was just cracked up then I had to change the heater core and while putting the dash back in it broke all up and now there are sharp edges all across the top at this time the truck was parked and the yard but now how it is while driving I have to hold the radio and the gauges back.
The dash started cracking about 4 months ago, and then started breaking into sharp, jagged pieces that jump out at me when driving down the road, and the truck has hit any kind of uneven road or bump. Not only is it very distracting, but the pieces are very sharp.

My truck dash top part started cracking out, at first it had just a small crack on the passenger side and now after driving for couple weeks in a daily basis (I drive less than 30 miles total per day) it just keeps cracking all over. I had before a 2001 Dodge ram and this happend to it also, that you could actually see holes through it. . . . .

I purchased this vehicle new in 2001. Since then, the dashboard has been replaced 3 times. Once by Dodge and 2 times by me. This dashboard continues to crack and split. Now the bezel has cracked into several pieces. Now, within the last week, the glovebox, made of the same plastic material has split and broken at the hinges. I have noticed that this is a real problem that is all over NHTSA's complaint board under several locations such as body, structural, airbags. These dashboards have cracked so badly, no one knows which portion of the vehicle that is affected but could show up in several locations. Although they have blamed this on uv degradation, I have other vehicles from 1986 and 87 that still have never had this problem. I also have a1999 Dodge 1500 that the dash has also cracked and I have replaced as well. When will NHTSA finally issue a recall for free replacements. Right now, mopar and aftermarket parts continue to sell the dashboard that has multiple defects. If the dash comes apart during a crash, shrapnel from the dash can be blown into a persons face or chest during an airbag deployment. It is all over the web about poor dashboards on this particular model. When is the recall? it is all over NHTSA's web site under various category's. When is the recall going to occur? a lot of Dodge owners are tired of pulling money out there pockets to fix a reoccurring problem for a defect that Dodge/Chrysler is aware of? the vehicle's cracking and breaking of the dash, bezel and glovebox are made of the same material. The problem cracks when the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on streets or highways. Can NHTSA help get a recall done on this continuing problem?.

I'm concerned the cracked dash will become sharp plastic projectiles if the airbag ever deploys.

I have purchased a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 sport. The dash has had a problem in the past and cracked and split. I have replaced it but expect that it will happen again. The problem is when this occurs during an accident, there is the potential for the broken pieces of the brittle plastic to become shrapnel and puncture or become a flying projectile in the cab of the vehicle. If it is caught by the airbag, the speed can be accelerated when the airbag deploys. When will NHTSA issue a recall on the dashboard of these trucks. The bezel and the glovebox's are also splitting as well. When can the recall be expected. I have noted before that this problem exist on NHTSA's website under several categories. . It is a safety issue if the dash cracks or breaks off during an accident. Owners are waiting for a recall so that they do not continue to have to pull money out of there pocket to fix repairs on items that should not have a problem.

I bought this truck used and expected some components of the truck to be worn. The dashboard has several cracks in it when I bought it and have continued to crack even more. This does not appear to be age related but a serious manufacturing defect. I'm worried about pieces flying off and hitting me in the face as broken parts have already done but only landed at my feet. It's like driving with broken glass on your dashboard. I would hate for the passenger airbag to go off and be stabbed by pieces of flying dashboard. I 've noticed that n. H. T. S. A. Has received more complaints about this component than any other on this truck. Why hasn't a recall been issued? this is a serious safety issue. Let's not make this another recall debacle. Chyrsler need's to take responsibility for this defect. No dashboard's crack like this with age.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the dash board was cracked and entered into the a/c system. Due to the failure, when the the a/c unit is on, the dashboards particles flies into the contact eyes while driving. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was common ,however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would not be able to assist him. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. Gb.
The dashboard on this vehicle cracks and pieces fall down into air vents (made from cheap plastic). If air bags were to deploy the dash would designate causing preventable injuries if cracking was not an issue.
Dash panel has cracked badly to the point pieces have fallen out exposing wires, connectors, ducts and other under-dash components. I am concerned this may affect inflation of air bags and potential for pieces of cracked dash to cause severe injury in the event of air bag deployment. Dash panel cracking on these models is well known to Chrysler, and has drawn national media attention (eg new york times, 2013). Chrysler has apparently refused to acknowledge its liability to repair this problem.

The dashboard has been cracking for over 2 years. Large pieces are breaking off and falling into the dash area where there are many electrical wires and vacuum hoses. The pieces that are breaking off are large and have sharp edges that may cut into the wires and hoses and may start fires or electrical failures/shorts. I researched and found out this is a common failure in this vehicle year due to manufacturing. Sometimes as I'm driving, the broken pieces pop out towards passengers in the vehicle. I'm also concerned that a short may deploy the airbags.
Dashboard has cracked in multiple places. Cracks began appearing many years ago.
Dash is cracked and pieces are flying everywhere when the ac is turned on. Very unsafe.

Some even stated that the small pieces could break off and damage wiring on the inside of the dash and cause a fire.

Major rusting issue with 2003-2008 Dodge ram trucks. The design of the bed traps water between the truck bed body panels, causing them to rust from the inside out. This is a widely know problem with these trucks. A vehicle that is well maintained should not rust like this. I've been told by every body shop I've gone to visit that Dodge knows about the problem and is doing nothing to fix. Dodge has had issues like this in the past with their 2nd generation trucks. The Dodge ram cracked dash, and bad transmission are just two examples. Although this is not a safety issue, in some states a vehicle with rust is not allowed on public roads. This forces owners to fix the rust themselves which can range from $500- $3,000.
