Driving on flat surface street, heard loud popping noise. Later realized it was the dash popping and noticed multiple straight cracks beginning in the corners of dash vents, gradually expanding. Creates multiple small, sharp shards of plastic. Potential for numerous projectiles of plastic if ever the airbags were to deploy not to mention now that the entire dash is weakened small parts intermittently fall into the dash area causing electrical problems with all the gauges, causing warning lights to illuminate and potential for fire is obvious considering other Dodge recalls for wiring problems in this model truck.
Vehicle dashboard is beginning to break into pieces. This particular make and model has a history of the dashboard breaking completely apart, exposing every element of the dashboard that is designed to be covered. Including some elements of the air bag system. It is not only a danger to have loose, sharp shards of plastic flying around in the passenger cabin, but it has completely destroyed the resale and marketability of the vehicle. Dodge and or ram has a responsibility to the consumer to make good on the original investment made towards the purchase of this vehicle. .
The dashboard on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 has developed a crack (6-7 inches long) near the air bag of the passenger. I feel this to be a safety hazard as the air bag deployment could cause particles of plastic to be thrown at high speeds throughout the vehicle. The vehicle is a used ram and it is unknown if the crack was there prior to purchase or not. Because of the summer heat, the vinyl expands which closes the gap and now the cold weather contracts it and reveals the crack. This continuous expanding and contracting could cause, over time, the vinyl to become weak and break down further.
My dash is literally falling apart. I bought it in February with 0 cracks and now it looks like a piece of peanut brittle. I searched and apparently this is a huge problem. I just want it fixed.

I was rear ended at a red light and my dash board sustained multiple fractures. Part of the dash board fractured and became airborne in the vehicle. It was the size of an iphone. There was also another part of the dashboard where a hole is present and the dash board is sunken in. Very disappointed with the quality and safety issues. Photos were forwarded to my attorney.
The dash cap in my Dodge Ram 1500 has cracked in several places. This has caused many very sharp shards of plastic that would be extremely dangerous in a collision resulting in unnecessary injury to any passengers in the vehicle. I firmly believe this should trigger a full recall of all trucks affected. Chrysler is aware of the problem and will not voluntarily start a recall. I myself have cut my fingers and hands just wiping off the dash board while cleaning. I beg of you to start an investigation before someone is injured very badly in an accident by these shards becoming projectiles. This problem affects hundreds of thousands of these trucks. Please take this very seriously!.
The dashboard in the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 has multiple hairline cracks and pieces are beginning to fall behind the dash. I'm afraid that these pieces could negatively impact the function of the airbags, heating / cooling system, or other electrical components of the vehicle. If there is an accident there could be fragments that break apart and could potentially cause eye damage or severe lacerations. I have found multiple complaints from numerous owners concerning this issue.
Thin cracks appeared on upper right of the main radiator, fluid leaking out. Car had not sustained any accident and is a clean title. My conclusion is that inferior products/polymers were used to manufacture this radiator. This is not an aftermarket radiator, but the one that came with the vehicle from the manufacturer.
The dash on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has cracked to the point that there is barely any left. I feel this is a safety issue because the broken pieces could fly at someone and cause serious injuries. Also upon impact the dash could have further pieces break off and cause damage.

Dashboard on my well cared for 03 ram1500 has cracked and is spreading rapidly, and exposing sharp jagged edges above airbag which apparently is a well known problem on the Dodge trucks. Certainly could be a safety issue if involved in a crash.
When driving vehicle at any speed from 25 miles and above with rear qaud cab door windows down - any height - vehicles shakes violently, noise in cab makes it impossible to talk. Have done this with single window down, rear window both opened and closed and vehicle still shakes making vehicle hard to drive. Have not tried this at highway speeds as I imagine the vehicle would be uncontrollable.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard exhibited an eighteen inch fracture above the instrument cluster. The contact was concerned that the failure could cause an electrical issue or erroneous air bag deployment. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the failure and the manufacturer advised that there were no recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 97,000.
Right knee bumps the large key turning it, and shutting off the engine, making it hard to control. This has happened several times usually while cornering or slowing for a corner.
The dash on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 is cracked in several places on the passenger side. I orginially thought of this as a cosmetic defect however, I now believe this is a more serious hazard as the airbag is stored under the dash. Should the airbag deploy, pieces of plastic then become shrapnel. Additionally, the electrical wiring can become damaged causing the airbag not to deploy when needed. Either way, you're taking a chance on the unexpected when something bad happens. I don't think it's worth the risk. Prevention is key. Therefore, this is a very serious concern and I hope the ntsa convinces Chrysler to take it seriously.
I bought my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 new from the dealer. . Within the last year and half. . . Several parts of the truck that are plastic molds have begun to break. . The dash (both parts), lock switch bezels, hood scoop insert, and a few other pieces. It seems to me that the type of plastic or quality that Dodge used in manufacturing these parts has led to numerous accounts of parts breaking where in most cases the parts should hold up to the life the of vehicle. I feel like a re-call, especially on the dashboards of the ram trucks, should be issued so that Dodge can correct a problem from a manufacturing defect. Thank you for you time and consideration into this matter.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact noticed that the four bolts that detained the front bumper were missing. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the failure. The contact stated he was concerned that the bumper could detach from the vehicle causing a failure to the brake line. The approximate failure mileage was 53,058.
The dash in my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 is completely caved in and in thousands of pieces. This dash piece is what holds the VIN in place, I now have it stored in the vehicles glove compartment. I have been informed by many Dodge owners that this problem is not just mine but many of their products. I was also informed that contacting Dodge directly would get me nowhere. Im here asking for help in righting this situation, im a disabled veteran and cant afford to buy a dash for my truck. Thank you very much.
Dash is disintegrating. Could be very dangerous and hurtful situation, if the air bag were to deploy, which could result in serious injury or possible fatality. Apparently, this problem has been ongoing for years. Updated 10/20/11.
Dashboard on my 1999 Dodge ram has cracked in several places. I just bought the truck 2 months ago and it already had one large crack and has gotten several more since I purchased it. I think Dodge needs to be held responsible for this, its a well documented defect. I also believe its a safety hazard. In an accident I don't want to have to worry about plastic from my dashboard turning into shrapnel when the airbag goes off.
