Re-call (p77) rear axle /pinion prior to my vehicle being served for this re-call it ran well but soon after the re-call was repaired I noticed there was a hesitation on acceleration especially noticeable on the interstate. My Dodge Ram 1500 has a hemi and there were no problems entering the interstate without any delay to reach the marked speed and merge with the traffic. After the repair on the re-call my truck would not go into a smooth transition into the gear; it would have a noticeable jerk in order to get to the speed needed to flow into the traffic. And I now my power steering has gone out; there is fluid in the container and no leaking I the driveway. I took the vehicle in the re-exam there work on the re-call they performed and the dealership started to charge me $99. To exam my complaints. I thought that re-call were not suppose to be an expense to the consumer. The dealership definitely treated me different from a regular "paying" customer. Very disappointed with this re-call.

15v-313 we have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 that has all the issues I've read on here for complaints. The wind shield wipers only work on the highest setting and when turned off stop wherever on the windshield when you turn the switch to shut them off, the engine seems to be leaking oil some place, have had to replace both front wheel hub assembelies, rear end has foam in the fluid, im guessing from reading this that my rear axel is about to fly out from underneath my teuck while driving by the way it sounds and slips, and now a recall on air bags. I fear everytime I drive behind the wheel of my truck and by the sounds of it after reading all these complaints that there is good reason to fear for my life. How many people have to die before something is done. These vehicles should not be made available to drive if there this dangerous. Sounds like Chrysler should be buying these trucks back so all there customers dont have to risk there lives driving down the road in a poor designed vehicle the produced. Not sure why there allowed to keep them on the streets being so dangerous to drive. Our truck has every problem that people have complained about on here but yet only has one recall when looked up by VIN. Why is that?.
While driving at 55 mph on the freeway, a noise and vibration occurred in the rear of the vehicle. Stopped the vehicle and found that the fluid had leaked out of the rear pinion bearing housing. Had the vehicle towed to a shop and they found that the pinion nut was loose, the pinion bearings were chewed up, the pinion gear was bent, and the rear end pinion bearing housing was scarred. Vehicle required a complete replacement of the entire rear axle assembly. This occurred at 80,000 miles. There are 17 different complaints on this NHTSA website about this issue for the 2006 model. Yet there is recall #14v79600 which covers only 2005 and 2009-2012 model years. Why is 2006 not covered when there have been 17 complaints of the same thing on this website alone? please issue a recall for 2006 as well.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, when the contact heard an abnormally loud noise emit from the vehicle. The contact stated that at that time that the vehicle began to decelerate independently. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact seen fluid leaking from under the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage unknown. Wh.
I was driving with my 4 kids in the truck . Problem started with my speedometer fluctuating while on the interstate going 65mph then suddenly fell to 0 and stayed there. I then started to smell a foul smell resembling natural gas. My abs light, e brake light and engine light came on. Took nearest exit and pulled over to see what was wrong. Turned truck off then back on and all lights went away but speedo still not working. Continued driving to get it home then the truck started surging when I would let off the gas but would go away when I pressed the gas. Decided I needed to pull over again. I proceeded to the turning lane going 35pmh when all of sudden the rear end locked up and started fishtailing and spinning till it came to a stop. Luckily cars around me swerved around me to prevent from getting hit. Rear axle is leaking fluid and really bad smell. Had to get a flat bed to pull it on and off and unloaded at my house. Thankfully myself and my kids are safe. Unfortunately my 2008 Ram 1500 quad cab does not fall under the 2009-2012 recall with the same pinion retaining nut backing out due to no loctite "adhesive" causing it to lock up. All I was told by Chrysler was to save any repair reciepts in the event the recall gets expanded. My local Dodge dealer wants me to tow my truck and charge me $101. 89 just to diagnose it just to tell me it's the rear pinion locking nut :/ but they were sure to let me know of the windshield wiper motor that was under recall that I should get fixed. . . . I think this is a bit more important than a wiper motor. Nhtsa campaign # 13v038000/expansion recall # 12v-474/Chrysler campaign n08 states Dodge rams manufactured between February 2008 to June 2009 fell under the recall though my truck was manufactured July 2008 yet it doesn't apply????!.

A few weeks earlier I heard a horrible grinding noise from my transmission while driving at 30-35 mph. I took it into the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem and inspected my vehicle stating that there were no leaks, fluid was fine and transmission was in good shape. I then got my vehicle back after 18 buisness days in the shop and I heard the grinding again (950 miles later). I got under my truck to look and found that my hydraulic cooler lines were leaking and my transmission looked like it had 200,000 miles on it. This is very strange because I have no documented work on my transmission and it went 19793 miles with no leaks and randomly started to leak??.

Rack and pinion leaking which is connected to the power steering pump, which uses the same fluid as the rack and pinion--both have to be repaired and replaced. The tie rods are broken and connected to the rack and pinion fluid, which ultimately led to the tierods breaking due to fluid leakage. We are also having problems with the transmission, not shifting into 4 wheel drive--our prior vehicle was also a Dodge Ram 1500, in which we had tie rod issues and major automatic power transmission and power steering fluid issues. Truck just purchased and currently in the shop pending replacement tie rods, power steering pump replacement and any other fluid issues they find to get the components working in synergy.
2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab, I purchased and have had numerous problems from the start. The transmission engages in such a way as to cause my body to move forward then back, I took it back to the dealership on three occasions, they changed the fluid and put in two new filters, still same problem, I was told by the mechanic of 22 years that's the new transmission feature to keep it from wearing out, it only engages when you stomp on the gas??? 30000 miles started leaking black fluid at front wheel, took to dealership, said suspension was gone, part has been on back order since August 2008 it is now Feb. 2009 and no expected arrival date of the part. My tires have worn out completely due to this issue, after continually calling the dealership and complaining they are installing an oem suspension part and will give me one free tire. . Waahoo, what about the other 3?.
