2004 Dodge Ram 1500 stalls for no apparent reason. Left me cross ways in traffic as I pulled into road from gas station. Fuel mileage 14 mpg on and off highway . Actually drops mileage on overhead read out when coasting down a grade. Balks at cruising speed. Transmission slips in reverse after truck sits overnight. Transmission lulls in it's shifting. Been to dealership five times. They have done nothing . 1. Claimed trans needed flashed, claimed secondary trans filter was bad(second time they actually changed the filter. No difference. Charged me 169. 00 for that change . Claimed it was not covered under warranty or 0 deductible extended warranty. Charged 100. 00 deductible and 69. 00 diagnosis. I handed them a copy of technical service bulletin that called for the change, but they charge for diagnosis. Why 100. 00 deductible when I have ) deductible ex warranty? " not covered under either of those warranties. . . This is a different warranty" ????? door seals also torn. " not covered on 2004 only 2005 models. . . . Same problem but not covered????.

7 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 04/19/2005

My transmission seems to be slipping when going in and out of firts ans second gear. I have taken it to shops to have it diagnosed and keep getting a runaround. After alot of reading and speaking to machanics and dealers, they have all pointed to major problems with the transmission which the manufacturer should do something about. There are hundreds of cases about bad transmissions on these vehicles. Something has got to be done. I have another appointment this weekend for someone else to look at it. I dont know of any other options. It needs to be addressed, people are spending so much money on looking for fixes.

12 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 1997 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/22/2002

Transmission slippage. Transmission govenor replaced at a cost of $450 (included a transmission service which I didn't authorize but assumed was done as part of the repair). Called Chrysler regarding what I deemed an inappropriate failure and recieved a refund for parts & labor to replace govenor only. Was not told by the dealership of the recall (#722) on the transmission coolant quick connect. Was informed of the recall by Chrysler when they called me to tell my check was being mailed. Have since experience one episode of weird transmission noises when my vehicle was put into reverse (backing out of the driveway). Have since researced this problem and found it endemic to 97 Dodge rams. Waiting any day now for total tramsmission failure. I agree with those of you who relate to this vehicle as a lemon -- will never again buy another american made vehcile until they begin concerning themselves with quality and reliability. Nlm.
