36 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/29/2017

Driving down a straight road at 50 mph on highway 41 and the check engine light / wrench icon came on at the same time I had lost all power to engine. Had to coast to side of road the car would not go any faster than 5 mph. After stopping I turned off engine and restarted it and it would not idle under 2500 rpms. Stop engine again it seemed to be ok then but still could not drive any faster than 5 mph. I ended up calling a tow truck. I thought at the time that something was wrong with the throttle body of the engine. 1 year old Ford with 6,287 miles and had just been in the shop for an oil change 2 weeks earlier. No recall on it was listed per dealership. If I was in very heavy traffic or rain it could of been really bad really fast. The tow company towed it to the local Ford dealership and they did say it was the throttle body and they would fix it under warranty. I thought Ford had fixed already. Anyway pickup car on Wednesday 5. 31. Hope it it fixed now. . .

37 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/20/2017

Code p2111 occurs and at stop light engine appears to almost stall. While driving the stability control tuns off, low oil pressure light comes on, and check engine light comes on. Problem goes away while driving after a second. At the stop light, it begins every time you come to the stop light. Ford says nothing is wrong but this appears to be another throttle body issue with Ford Edges.

38 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

Engine control module-pcm. After 3 years of replacing/repairing items on my car, they now say that the pcm is the cause. I have replaced multiple sensors, catalytic converter, drive shaft, turbo, cooling system, and the list goes on. Had the pcm been diagnosed the first time my check engine light came on and replaced the sensor, I could of saved a lot of time. Every time I would go in, the diagnostic test would show 02 sensor which was replaced numerous times, then they would say catalytic converter, so on so on going down the list. I would get stranded on the highway because the car would completely shut down. Not one person in the past 3 years said the pcm was to blame. After a week of trying to diagnosis my car after once again being stranded on the highway, they are saying the pcm. The mechanic states that the computer module is on back order with Ford. The Ford rep states that they are selling them faster than they can be made. If this part is on back order (2 weeks) and can't keep them in stock, there seems to be an issue with the pcm for Fords. Everything that I have read states it is very hard to diagnosis a pcm but there needs to be a code that appears when it is faulty because this could of been covered under warranty 3 years ago but instead, I have paid a lot of out of pocket to get to this point of replacing the pcm. Pcm in high demand with Ford indicates a red flag for this part and issue. Please review.

My check engine light is on, shows code p0299 which refers to an underboost condition with the turbo or supercharger system. My mechanic spoke to a dealership who stated they've put 3 parts in the vehicle they have in the shop and its still not fixed. Sounds like its a common issue. Can you investigate for a recall?.

Vehicle stalled in heavy traffic on the freeway and had to coast to the side of the road. Very dangerous situation. Amber check engine light came on and a warning light showing a yellow wrench came on. Vehicle ran in limp home mode only. Took vehicle to the dealership and the throttle body was replaced. On line reports indicate the throttle body has been a problem at Ford for the last several years and it apparently is still not fixed on the 2015 Ford Edge.

44 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/28/2016

My car is Ford Edge 2015 with only 6000 miles on it. I was entering the ramp on a freeway and when attempted to accelerate the car just shut off by itself. I blocked the whole road because could not move. No check engine light was on just a message displayed on the dash "full accessory power active" and the green light on the starter button was flashing. Had to put the car in park and wait 2-3 min until I could successfully restart it. The next day my car did the same thing on a busy street intersection. I had to wait again a little bit to restart it and drove to the dealership. They took the car to check for one day, no rental was provided. I was told that they get many different Ford vehicles with this issue. Next day I received a phone call that they ran a computer scan and throttle body was defective. Throttle body air intake was replaced. Very scary and dangerous situation that can happen anytime, anywhere without any kind of warning. I believe it needs attention. . .

47 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/20/2016

One morning my Ford started running rough. A rough idol. Shaking in the body. The check engine light started blinking. I took it to a mechanic that morning to check the computer. The mechanic stated it read as a bank one miss fire. I replaced the bank one coil and spark plug from the mechanic. The car still drove rough. I was on my way to the the dealer the next day, three or four miles away ,when the car shut down on the highway between two busy exits. I lost power and control of the vehicle. Thanks to the state police, I was pushed to a safer location. I was towed to the dealer from there. I wasn't told the power-train module needed replacement until after all the coils and spark plugs were replaced two days later.

49 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

(on multiple occasions )my 2011 Ford Edge upon accleration the vehicle loses the abiltiy to acclerate - shudders and the check engine flashes or stays on. Supposedly could not find the "code" that caused it. I have had the vehicle into 2 different dealer ships - one replaced the transfer case, the other the catalytic converter and ignition coils- to the cost of over 600. 00 on a used certified vehicle. Less than a few days later same issue - back to dealer said it was a loose wire. I now drive the vehicle very tentatively and hope I don't have to accelerate quickly. The vehicle persists in the ability to not acclerate quickly ( usually at 55 mph or higher )without the engine light flashing or staying on. It also seems to happen most frequently on quick accleration --on ramp or getting up to freeway speed . It is very dangerous as this usually happens getting on or off the freeway or staying up with traffic, once the light goes on the vehicle shudders and will not accelerate today it will be 3 months first visit was oct 29 mileage was 68000 and has happened up to today multiple times and mileage is now 74000 the check engine light is on again back to Ford dealer again tomorrow.

50 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

I was driving my car on the road and the engine stalled with no warning and the car cut off. After waiting about 10 minutes, the car started and I was able to move it to the side of the road. The check engine light didn't come on until after the car initially cut off. I tried to start the car again about 20 minutes later and it wouldn't start at all. Finally, after a couple of hours the car started, but the check engine light was still on.

55 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

This incident has happened 4 times in the past month and a half. My car completely shuts off and I have no control over the steering or speed. When I restart my car, it turns on. There haven't been any check engine lights or other notifications until today when it happened for the fourth time and the low oil pressure indicator came on and in the indicator box a wrench is now displayed. The first incident I was pulling out of a parking lot into traffic when it happened. The second incident I was pulling into a parking lot. The third incident I was sitting at a red light attempting to accelerate and the car just shut down and this final incident I was driving approximately 5 mph and in traffic, the car just shut down. In all instances the car started back up but if this had happened in any instance that I was going faster or crossing an intersection, I fear I would be killed or injured. I have seen that there are other owners having the same complaint and I just fear that someone will die from this.

56 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

On several occasions the vehicle lost all acceleration and power to the engine. Yellow wrench showed there was a warning, and check engine light flashed, but upon turning off the car (the main electronics ie:radio/ac still worked) and restarting it resumed "normal" functions and driving. We had several times this happened to us. All of the occurrences happened in the middle of accelerating and at different speeds. Two were on residential roads, one was in a busy intersection, and one (the worst) was on the freeway 3 lanes over from the right shoulder going with the flow of traffic at 70mph. The dealership was unsuccessful n assisting with the problem because without a check engine light they were unable to diagnose the problem. But our latest incident, on September 11th, 2015 (this time the wrench and awd off flashed), the check engine light stayed on and it was diagnosed as a bad throttle body. This is more than dangerous it is a russian roulette of whether the car will work or not. . Read more...

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. Jft.

58 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

Vehicle is stalling at red light and on the freeway and the check engine light came on. The vehicle diagnostics systems suggests the throttle body is not working properly. Several people have the same issue but Ford refuses to issue a recall.

59 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/13/2015

I was driving and all of a sudden the vehicle started idling high and sputtering. Then the check engine light came on. The engine just shut off. Luckily there was no one behind me. I could have been rear-ended. This is third time this has happened. The first time it happened I took it to Ford and they said there was no code to tell them what was wrong with it. They replace the throttle body sensor and check engine light was gone, but a few hours later it came back on and it stalled on me again. I wasted a couple of hundred dollars to end up right back where I was before with a very unsafe vehicle. If I could afford to get another vehicle, I would. I am afraid to drive this vehicle. Something has to be done before someone is injured or killed.

60 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

61 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/12/2014

When driving the vehicle the power train problem indicator light and check engine light come on and the car loses all power. Car will not exceed 900 rpm and will barely move. I had the trouble codes read and it is indicting that the throttle is showing stuck closed and open. I believe that this is the same issue as with several other Ford models and should have been part of the extended warranty that covered the throttle bodies from several other models. This issue poses a serious safety risk do to the fact that it has happened several times and at various speeds, if this were to happen at highway speeds in heavy traffic it could be horrible. I have researched this problem extensively online and found that it is a fairly common issue with the Edge.

62 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

I was driving when I lost acceleration. A wrench light came up on my screen. Thankfully my breaks still worked and I was able to coast to a stop, almost getting rear ended by a semi, but then the whole motor started shaking and sputtering. I put my vehicle in park and turned it off. When I went to turn it back on it hesitated for a minute, but then started. This didn't happen again until a few weeks later while on the highway going 60mph! I've had it happen multiple times since then and almost being hit a few other times. I've noticed that I don't have as much power when accelerating even when the wrench doesn't come up. Today it happened twice within a couple of minutes and the check engine light came on this time. I don't understand why they won't have a recall when so many people have an issue! I've almost been hit multiple times when this occurs and I would rather not have me or my child hurt from a malfunction that needs to be fixed!.

63 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

At least five separate times, while driving at high rates of speed, my 2013 Ford Edge will begin to hesitate and shudder. The check engine light begins to flash and then the vehicle suddenly loses power. I can barely keep the vehicle going at about 20 miles an hour. I can generally coast to the side of the road or freeway. I have to turn off the vehicle and let it sit for several minutes before I can turn it back on and restore power to drive it. It is still under warranty. I have had the vehicle into the Ford dealer service three times for this problem. They cannot diagnose and replicate the problem. Despite the check engine light being on, the computer is throwing no error messages. This is a very unsafe and scary situation. I refuse to drive the vehicle again. To do so would put myself in danger, my passengers and other drivers in danger. I have applied to Ford motor company for a buy back under their "reacquisition program" but was told on January 8, 2015 that the vehicle does not qualify under California lemon law. I was given no explanation or opportunity to discuss this decision with Ford. My problem sounds very similar to what is described in this article, although my Edge is a 4-cylinder with an eco-boost engine. . Read more...

65 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

2011 Ford Edge limited: on way to dealer for requested service/repair sudden and unexpected engine loss of power (stall - 3 episodes within 2 weeks) while underway the vehicle stalled 3 additional times. At time of stall (loss of engine power) the engine remained running; check engine light was on; "wrench" showed on dash instruments; all electrical power remained on and operating. Necessary to put hazard lights on, glide to stop off road, place transmission lever in neutral then in park and turn engine off. On restart, check engine light was on. I called advantage Ford dealership from road; they said ok to proceed to dealership. These incidents occurred in heavy traffic on us-1. No warning from car engine rumbling or other before stall. Felt in danger but able to navigate safely. Internet search prior to dealer visit indicated "throttle body" problem with Ford escape primarily. Only 1-3 complaints Ford Edge.

68 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

While making a turn the vehicle suddenly stalled out without warning, luckily the car coming towards me slowed in time and I was able to coast to the middle lane. Check engine light appeared and also a wrench symbol. After a few minutes I restarted the car and it did turn on, I was driving without issues, when going 45 mph the vehicle shook and again stalled out. Having my 1 year old son in the car was very frightening, I was terrified I would be hit by another vehicle as the Edge suddenly turns off with no warning. Being we live in a somewhat rural area and having my son, I was determined to make it home, which thank goodness I did safely, unfortunately after stalling out 2-3 more times. My husband took the Edge to the dealership today which they claim it is the throttle body, and since we do not have the extended warranty is $800. After seeing these other posts it seems that there should be a Ford recall. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it can lead to a fatality if the Edge stalls on the freeway or busy road, its very scary. I purchased a new car to feel safe and to have my son safe, I feel far from and I want nothing but to get rid of this vehicle. Something needs to be done. VIN unavailable as my car is still at the dealership.

69 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Today, my wife brought her 2010 Ford Edge in for the 3rd time in a matter of 3 weeks, to the local dealership. The problem is while she is driving, the check engine light will come on and the engine will stall leaving her stranded in the middle of traffic, after a minute she can restart it but it happens shortly after that. They had replaced a sensor on the last visit but yet again today the light came back on and it stalled several times before she could get it home. This places my wife and others in traffic with her in danger as when the car stalls there is no way to warn other drivers and could cause an accident. I do not believe the dealership has any clue as to what is going on with this vehicle. I have done some research online using google and have found there are many others out there who seem to have had the same problem and no one seems to have a definite reason as to why.

70 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

We started up our car on a Sunday morning, put it in reverse, backed out of our spot, and then put the vehicle in drive. Right away, we noticed the car shaking, not much power, and it was sputtering along. The check engine light was flashing as well, indicating engine misfire. The car was towed to a Ford dealership. The Ford dealership ran a diagnostic and determined that the pcu had overheated and the cylinder coils melted. They also said the pcu is no longer operable and needed to be replaced, along with the coils and plugs. Generally, engine misfire indicates a tune-up is needed; however, in this case, the car needs a brand-new computer. The dealership quoted us at 2,700 total for the repair. Furthermore, this is a known issue with the car, as determined by Ford, as it issued technical service bulletin 13-4-7, citing this model and several others as prone to this malfunction. Ford should recall this model and have the issue fixed. No recalls even though this poses a fire hazard? shocking.
