Bought vehicle approx 1. 5 years ago from a Chrysler dealer with 28000 miles. Presently about 46000 miles. While driving at city speed, came to a red light and started smelling this odor of burnt differential fluid or rotten egg smell. Immediately called dealer and made appt, for following day. We were told it was not the catalytic converter (which we thought it was and under warranty), but it was the cpu unit. We were also told it would cost us $3000. 00 . The warranty on the unit is 5 years or 60000 miles. Whichever comes first. How could this happen on a unit that normally lasts a lifetime. Especially at 46000 miles. We did some research because dealer said they cannot warranty or even check with manufacture on warranty. We found that this is a common defect with the 2014 Ford Edge anf Ford knows the issye and will not do anything to recall or repair any of these issues. We dont have $3000 dollars to repair the issue but am disappointed that we have to make a known repair on a vehicle boutght a year and a half ago that should not happen. There have been news reports on tv about this particular issue on its safety . Https://bc. Ctvnews. Ca/mobile/Ford-owner-fears-for-her-safety-after-serious-car-malfunction-1. 3139692 . Please advise and check this news report. Right now this vehicle we spent $22000 thousand is parked and cannot be driven because it's too dangerous.

Differential rattled when turning causing steering wheel to veer. Car brand new and Ford dealer replaced entire differential-at same time had to tighten lug nuts on both sides of rear axil.
Differential problems caused by using the manufacturer provided spare tire. Spare tire is much smaller then tires required by the manufacturer, when spare tire was used it caused stress to the differential causing it to break. This is a well documented problem in the internet and should be fixed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer is assuring a costly break down of their vehicles by ignoring this problem. I ask anyone responsible to take appropriate action and force the manufacturer to pay for damages cause by their neglect.

Noted leak of fluid from rear of vehicle of my 2013 Ford Edge. Taken to local Ford garage, was told it was rear differential vent, so this part was replaced. I was told this problem was a prior recall. Continued to have leak from rear of vehicle after repair was done, so vehicle was brought in again, they were advised by Ford that the prior fix was the repair, and that they should next check the fluid level, which my local garage had also done, Ford then advised them to underfill the fluid to below the differential vent level as the correction. My question is this, is it safe to do this or will this damage my vehicle or cause a safety issue if my vehicle does not have adequate fluid for the parts to work properly.
