Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises Problems of Ford Edge

Driving heard a clunk sound and car went into limp mode. Going 50 mph on straight roadway. The �wrench� light came on and vehicle continued in limp mode. Pulled over and put on emergency flashers. Car had to be towed to dealership. They put on machine to check codes and found nothing and there was error no code stored. Before they can do anything to fix vehicle they need it to replicate error. The wrench light is out, but now worried to drive because nothing was resolved.

Battery goes dead for no apparent reason. Sometimes a message will appear that the car is in power saving mode (electrically) to save the battery, but not always. After charging the battery, the vehicle may run fine for 2-3 weeks then go dead. I have noticed the turn signals do not always have an audible sound when working, and I have noticed a clicking noise from the fuse / circuit box without any thing being done to the vehicle, and when it will not start. The current episode is the second in 3 weeks, the third in 6mos. The first episode, the battery was replaced. I do not believe this a battery issue. Other than this, the car performs fine.

From stop, began right turn into city traffic. Heard loud clicking noise in dashboard. Engine cut off. Lost power steering. Coasted to stop on side of the city street. Restarted engine successfully and drove away.

Since purchased as a certified pre owned, there is always a very noticeable clicking noise from the engine when cold, and gradually quiets when warmed up. . . Similar to a sticking valve lifter. The servicing dealer checked with Ford and said the engineers are working on the issue, but there are no repairs for this condition and it will not harm the engine.

Driving northbound on lake shore drive in chicago, illinois was accelerating on an incline and engine was racing but vehicle was losing power, made a popping noise, white smoke began billowing out of hood, lost all power was rolling to the nearest safety lane which was a turning lane just being opened by city workers when they said for me to get out of the car they saw flames coming out of the lower part of the engine. Had it towed to Ford dealer where mechanic stated there was a blown rod through the oil pan. The last oil change I had was 2/19/13 at 58,840 miles in car.
