1 Radiator problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/04/2020

The engine starts rough but clears and the vehicle uses some radiator fluid. We took it to have it checked out and the dealer told us we need a new engine. Ford has a technical service bulletin out for this issue but because we are over on the mileage they will not cover anything. We now have a 3 year old vehicle that is basically worth nothing. I called Ford motor company and they will not even admit that they have a problem with this defective engine. The dealer told us that the new motors have the defect corrected. I feel Ford should stand behind a defective engine but they won't until the government tells them to.

2 Radiator problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/22/2020

I went to the dealership where I bought my 2017 silver Ford Edge, because on 5/8/2020 the engine icon came up on my dash. So I immediately stopped at the local jarett Ford dealership in lakeland, FL, thinking it just needed an oil change. After I got this done, the engine icon never went and I began to experience my vehicle shaking and it also began heating up. This happened in 3 different occasions, with a red warning message on my dash of the precaution I should take to avoid overheating. Each time I immediately stopped the vehicle, waited for it to cool down, and added coolant to the radiator coolant tank. I went to elder Ford of tampa, FL, where I bought my vehicle and the service manager, terry was completely oblivious as to who NHTSA is as well as no idea of the customer satisfaction program. As I went to drive away my vehicle, now it did not want to start. Frank tried to see if it was a battery issue and tried jump starting it but it had nothing to do with the battery. By god's miracle my vehicle suddenly turned on and by his mercies I was able to arrive at my house. Now, I cannot get to work and are stuck because they say that there is nothing they can do because my warranty is over. I need to know if you can help me resolve this matter that is not my fault. I am very concerned that they have no idea as to what NHTSA is nor your customer satisfaction program. I will appreciate someone helping me, or pointing me in the right direction.

3 Radiator problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/02/2020

I was driving going 35 mph accelerating to 40 mph as I was on the inside lane of three lanes entering the state highway to go over the bridge when my indicator light came on showing over heating and I lost power. I immediately had to pull off the road and waited 1 1/2 hours for engine to cool down to check my engine. When I checked I had no coolant in my radiator . I spoke to a Ford service employee and they said get it to them to check out. They inspected and tell me there is a service bulletin 19-2346 stating the defect. A known defect causing dangerous situations for unaware car owners. Ford has told me they will not take responsibility for their known defective issue and want $ 7,000. 00 to replace whole engine. Currently it is at Ford being repaired at my expense but hopefully our government officials or a lawyer can help redeem this situation.

4 Radiator problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

Driving on the freeway for about an hour, I got off of the freeway and a couple of stop lights later my car sputtered and shut down. I looked at the temp gauge and saw I was overheated. I received no warning or alerts on my dashboard. I let it cool for few minutes and was able to get out of the road into a parking lot. My radiator overflow was empty. I let it cool some more and put in 1 1/2 gallons of coolant. I started the engine, it started very rough. After a minute of running, coolant started pouring out of the front of my engine. I assume it was from the radiator. The engine shut itself down again and I left the car overnight. I came back the next day and had it towed to a repair shop. He turned the key and the engine wouldn't turn over. It was just click. He said, "that's not good. " he attached his diagnostic equipment and a battery jumper. Same result. He said he didn't even need to look at my engine to know it was blown. The error messages on his equipment confirmed it. He put water in my radiator and put it under pressure. Water again started pouring out. He pulled out the oil pan drain plug and what looked like a vanilla milkshake oozed out. He inspected my water pump and confirmed that it had failed. It drained my radiator and my car overheated and blew the head in a matter of minutes, again with no indicators of any kind that something was wrong. I have to replace my engine. I still owe money on it so it's not worth it to trash the car. My car has only 70,000 miles on it. Upon doing research I found a class-action lawsuit against Ford for this water pump problem problem. I'm trying to get in on it. Apparently there are thousands of cases exactly like mine and Ford will not acknowledge it. . Read more...

5 Radiator problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/16/2016

The engine died, as I was driving the car down the interstate. The steering wheel locked as I tried to exit and my car drifted into oncoming traffic. Fortunately there was no accident but when I was finally able to get the car to the side of the road it was severely smoking and I had to get myself and my daughter out of the car immediately. Also, the head gaskets and radiator blew and now there is a major electrical problem with the car the service department could not diagnose after 5 hours of investigating.

6 Radiator problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

The vehicle began to overheat rapidly and the air conditioning began to put out hot air. I pulled the vehicle off of the road and turned everything off. Upon cooling down, water was added to the radiator and the vehicle was taken to the mechanic. The problem was an internal water pump. The water pump cost $1900 to have replaced. I contacted Ford and they said they cannot do anything, it is the design and how you have to access the water pump. I priced (3) different dealers on the repair and they were all within a few dollars of each other. This particular vehicle has not been reliable.

7 Radiator problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

I was driving on the highway when my check engine light came on and I noticed my thermostat climbing about to over heat. I pull of at the nearest exit and stop at an oil change service station. The mechanic say I had no antifreeze in the car. He refills the antifreeze and I was on my way. 20 mins into my drive, the check engine light on and the thermostat looks fine, but the car started sputtering and stopped in the middle of a busy area of nyc. I had the car towed to a mechanic and after their diagnostic test they said the engine head is cracked or warped and they found antifreeze mixed in oil and radiator and will cost $2500 to fix! wtf!! is this allowed to happen?? I took great care of this vehicle and I feel like a sucker! now I can't get to work, can't get my kids to or from school and I'm not sure what to do at this point!.
