1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

While driving across oak island 2 lane bridge at approx 45 mph, my Edge started revving at a high rpm, one loud clunk & car was still running, but lost all transmission. I tried to shift in another gear, but no power transfer. Traffic was heavy & shoulder was small. Drifted to stop in shoulder & called 911. Police came & protected my vehicle which was in an extremely bad position. I had nowhere to go if I wanted to move to a safer position. I had to wait in vehicle until police came. It was Sunday, tow truck operator was on call. All total I was in that location for more than an hour. Had car towed to local mechanic who diagnosed it to be shattered flywheel at least. Probably more damage, but recommended to have it serviced at a Ford dealership due to their internal service bulletins noting this issue. Bulletin #19-2236 8/6/2019.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2009 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

Ford has a well known transmission issue. The Ford Edge will decide that it will not go into gear while in traffic, then when you restart it it resets and the problem seems to be gone. Someone is going to get killed. The transmissions hit hard or won't go into gear. These issues can't be fixed by the average consumer. . Transmission slips the you put the car into park or neutral and then it will go into gear, but I'm afraid I'm going to get hit. The car is in motion when it slips or skips or gets stuck. I don't really know what's happening.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

While driving on a major headway headed out of town, my car started to make excessive rattles and noises coming from the engine area, when I would come to a stop the noise was much louder. I smelt a slight burnt smell, and also noticed the gears jumping in and out. I immediately parked the car, called for help and had the car towed back. I took it to tamiami Ford, in which they told me the flex plate is cracked. And I would need a needed a new flex plate, torque, crankshaft. I had about 69,000 miles on the car at this point and they said the warranty was expired and would not cover this. They contacted higher people and yet still would not cover the issue. Needless to say I had to pay for it out of pocket. But as I see more and more people are complaining of the same issue on forums. I have attached pictures of my cracked flexplate. I have a tow bill and repair bill but not on hand at the moment.

5 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/06/2019

As I was driving the transmission disengaged and would not go back into gear. After towing to the dealership it was determined that the half shaft/cv axle was malfunctioning. This is a known safety issue with 2012-14 Ford Edge but because my VIN was not included in the recall I was responsible for repairs.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

While driving on a city street and on a state road transmission will act and sound like it is slipping or not engaging in gear and sometimes will only work in reverse. When problem occurs vehicle will lose all power and engine will rev up but vehicle will not move. I have had it towed to dealer and have taken it in to dealer, they say they cannot duplicate the the problem. They also told me that when it happens I need to pull over somewhere safe and shut the car off and let the "computer/ sensors " reset and that will "take care" of the problem. The problem is getting progressively worse as time goes on. I am afraid if this happens in traffic someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed as there is no power to get off the road and out of traffic.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/06/2013

On Dec 6, 2013,when starting the car after sitting for<3 hours then shifting the car into gear the car acts like it is not in gear, races the engine and the speedometer shows a speed unrelated to actual movement. There is slow movement but no actual gear engagement. Car was taken to local Ford dealer who spent several days to repair the transmission. One April 20 the same episode occurred but this time I was pulling into traffic which could have caused an accident. The same symptoms occurred.

10 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

I am unable to "select affected parts" in this form: parts - power train, transmission, battery. Over the past 6 months there have been numerous incidents where my vehicle, upon returning to speed or entering a roadway/highway, or otherwise entering a roadway, it has made a noise, a sudden jerk, seem to hold speed (fail to increase speed) and seems to feel like it is failing to changed gears (appears to rev in rpms slightly), then jerks again, and comes back into routine shifting. It is an automatic. This happens often. I have had the fluid check, flushed, replaced, asked my mechanic and she can find no issues. It seems to feel like it bogs down, but rpms appear to increase (almost as if it is not in gear/neutral). It seems to be happening more and more frequently. I have routinely checked my car for recalls. And I should note have had the ball bearing go bad (as recalled) and replaced, including the entire arm on the left rear. Additionally, my battery has failed and been replaced (approximately 3 years ago) and has since required replacement again. It needs to be jumped started, and upon first replacement (by Ford) it was noted not all cylinders or cells were charged/charging.

11 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

My wife and I bought a 2010 Ford Edge limited in March of 2010. Since that time we have had several occurrences of the transmission not going into gear when pressing the accelerator from a dead stop or the transmission going in and out of gear very rough (slamming in or out) during different speeds. Have taken it into a Ford dealership and they say they can't find or reproduce the problem, yet it continues to happen when we drive the vehicle.

12 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

2008 Ford Edge - transmission and acceleration defect. Our Edge hesitates when accelerating after a stop and then jumps forward violently. Sometimes it will not go at all. Afraid of running into something. We got the throttle body replaced. Now the car will not change gears. Rpm are over 7 and car won't go past 20 mph. We have had it in the shop 3 times for the same problem. Because it often runs fine and then suddenly has this issue where it won't go, it could cause a serious accident on a highway. I've seen many, many other people complaining about this same car, same issue all over the web. Ford needs to do something. Started in April '10, issue still not fixed as of Aug '10.
