2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that there was a constant failure with the transmission gear slipping out of drive. The contact was uncertain if the failure may progress to the other gears rendering the risk of a potential catastrophic crash. The problem was getting worse to the point that there was a reduction in speed when needing to pick up speed due to a delay in the gears changing over. The vehicle was inspected by three different repair facility independent certified mechanics for a technical diagnosis as transmission specialists. The dealer borgman Ford, 3150 28th st sw, grandville, mi 49418, (616) 534-7651 was notified of the failure. The manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v393000 (power train) for this year model vehicle. The dealer was not authorized to diagnose the vehicle yet until further guidance was provided by the manufacturer for a transmission diagnosis. The contact was uncertain if the transmission assembly needed to be replaced as well as if any additional repairs that may be required. The manufacturer issued 10 TSB and excluded the VIN from any power train recalls. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they had a technical guideline to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

2016 driving out of subdivision, came to stop before starting up incline. Motor was racing but car was slowly moving, drove a short distance,at very slow movement. Pulled off road and had car towed to Ford dealership to have it checked out. They found nothing wrong. 2018 after hwy. Driving and then turning road. . . Came to stop sign, put foot on gas to make turn and car motor was racing but car would barely move. Moved about 8 feet then put gear into neutral for a minute and then put gear into drive. It made a loud noise , but did go into drive. Drove 1 block and it apparently slipped out of gear and rolled to a stop.

4 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

When pulling away from a dead stop ,the transmission will occasionally not engage which feels like it is going into a "neutral" feeling and then will bang into gear . It also feels like the transmission will slip out gear and then reengage while at highway speeds. Last the acceleration is not there when merging into highway speeds or just accelerating ,the gas peddle is pushed but the car will not accelerate causing a risky situation when traffic is bearing down on you and you can not get safely up to highway speeds.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

I bought my 2008 brand new. At 39,000mi I took to dealership after noticing the transmission lagging, slipping, loud very hard shifts. Also was parking at the grocery store when I pulled into spot, with foot on the break car lurched and engine reved. If it hadnt had my foot on break it could have hit someone. Of course dealership couldnt replicate, was told to bring back when it didnt it more regularly. At 59,000 I took it back in after sever times of loud/hard shift and jerking like I had been rear ended by something. As well as being on a road trip where it felt like it slipped out of gear and the wrench light came on. I pulled to side of road and called Ford. They said to turn car off and back on. Wrench light went off and car seemed fine. Then while on interstate it reved really high again but car felt like it was in neutral, it wouldnt accelerate when I pushed the gas. Pulled off again and cut off and back on and it seemed fine. Dealership was able to replicate, but results inconclusive. Was told to bring back if happened again. At 83,000 it is back in, it has been loudly shifting with the big jerk like before this time more frequently and also was coming off exit ramp of interstate and at stop light, car was in drive, but wouldnt go, felt like it was sitting in neutral again. Dealership has had it for 3 days and found metal shavings in transmission. Will not confirm this is covered by warranty even though it is an existing issue. Can not promise for will honor repair. Wants to rip out my transmission to see what problem is, but wont give me any kind of estimate as to cost. Only said Ford would "assist" but couldnt tell me how much. I have read hundreds of similar issues online of the exact same issues. Seems like Ford would have recalled this already. This is not only an issue of a faulty tranmission, but also a huge safety issue as well.
