43 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/09/2021

At approximately 100,000 miles, the transmission blew out while my son was driving the vehicle on a bridge of a freeway. The engine, sputtered, locked up, would not stay in drive and died. He had to maneuver to safety in the middle of the road on a dangerous bridge. We had the transmission supposedly replaced at future Ford of concord. This repair took close to three weeks. Upon return of the car, the same thing happened again. We returned the car to the dealer. It stayed for another four weeks while they ran diagnostics, and supposedly fixed the car. Not more than 100 miles later the car experienced the same thing as the original incident. My son was once again on the freeway, the car lost all power, the transmission light went on and the car is again currently at future Ford of concord. Cars should not have transmission problems such as this with only 100,000 miles. And, if the problem was fixed, then we should not have had to take the car back two additional times for the same thing. I believe there exists a significant problem with the transmission of this 2015 Ford excape.

51 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/09/2012

-harsh jerking while foot on brake and shifting from any gear to drive, it's an automatic transmission -at the speed of approximately 30 mph, braking for the stop sign, it jerked forward first before speed was reduced fortunately, it was still under warranty. The dealer diagnosed the problem as transmission center support damage. The vehicle was never in an accident and it was purchased new. This incident occurred 14. 5 months after I took ownership of the vehicle and had about 9,330 miles on it. It was a safety hazard when it jerked forward before speed was reduced and for a new vehicle to have "transmission center support damage" - certainly not confident that it won't happen again before 20,000 miles.

54 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

While driving to the tpa on I-75 approaching the exit for I-4 we slowed for a truck that cut us off. Our vehicle shifted down at least two gears which caused the engine to over rev. We tried to speed up, but the engine just reved higher. So we slowed while exiting on to the ramp for I-4. We were able to get over to the right and pull off the ramp road before getting on to I-4. We turned the engine off and sat for a few minutes to compose ourselves. I was hoping that the system would reset itself so we could continue. We started the engine and we continued to the airport without anymore problem. I drove home and for two weeks drove without incident until 8/26/2011. The same thing happened as before. The engine down shifted about 65 mph and the engine began revving. We slowed the vehicle and came to a stop to make a left turn. After excelerating we felt the engine over revving before shifting. The vehicle is unsafe to drive. It is unpredictable as to when a problem will occur. It’s a matter of time before something bad is going to happen. We need this problem fixed with assurance that it is truly fixed or we need restitution from Ford for selling us an unsafe vehicle.

59 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

The automatic transmission in my 2010 Ford Escape started "flaring" between 2nd and 3rd gears last September a month after I bought it. "flaring" is a term used by Ford to describe when the transmission delays shifting between gears and the engine revs until it finally shifts. The dealer has worked on it several times and the problem continues. This has not really been a safety issue until two weeks ago. It started "flaring" occassionally between 1st and 2nd gears also. This is a concern because I'm not up to speed when this happens between 1st and 2nd. With traffic being heavy at times, I'm concerned that someone could rearend me when this happens. The car is at the dealership now to try to diagnose the problem. The dearer along with the Ford representative haven't been able to resolve the problem between 2nd and 3rd gears so I doubt they will resolve this problem either. I'm further concerned that it could start happening with 1st gear and I could start to enter a highway and the car would not accelerate when intended and then suddenly accelerate when it wasn't safe to do so.

60 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/11/2011

Transmission had to be replaced in 2005 Ford Escape (v6, 4wd) XLT. No issues prior to one day driving vehicle and it sputtered and slowed to a complete stop. The car was turned off and restarted just fine. But when the vehicle was put into drive, it only went for about 10 feet before it slowed to a complete stop again. The vehicle was towed on a flat bed to repair shop where owner was informed she must replace transmission totalling $2477. 00. Vehicle has less about 92,000 miles on it with only one owner. Car was purchased September 2004 from Ford dealer. 3 year warranty is obviously no longer valid and dealer offered no advice as to what could be done about it.

61 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/24/2011

The 2006 Ford Escape has transmission problems due to a manufacture defect. I talked to a mechanic from Ford and he said that these transmissions are defective, on all Escapes, there are postings online where people are saying the same thing about their Escape. My Escape only has 65000 miles and it has the same issue, the Ford dealership says they cant pinpoint the problem so they have to just replace it. A Ford mechanic online sayed the casing weld internally is faulty making the transmission loose pressure. Other people online have posted the same thing happening to their tranny on their Escape, I would like to suggest that it need be recalled, its costing my family to repair the problem, when Ford is responsible for the defect on their faulty transmission.

66 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

I was accelerating from a stoplight on a two lane road without a shoulder. A vehicle in my lane suddenly slammed on the breaks, so I let my foot off the accelerator to check the next lane to see if I could swerve over at which point I pressed on the accelerator to get in front of the car in the other lane but my vehicle was unresponsive. The rpms didn't change, after a couple seconds and the accelerator to the floor, it finally engaged into gear and jolted forward. I narrowly missed the stopped car. I have experienced these dead spots in acceleration after the mandatory TSB Ford released. There have been five times in which it almost caused an accident and I try to avoid making any left handed turns against traffic. My vehicle has also been plagued with other transmission issues, such as slamming into gear, slipping gears, shift flares, harsh shifting and even the transmission being unresponsive and resulting in the vehicle jolting forward when off the accelerator.

After stopping or slowing down and when you push on the gas to drive or speed up the car would hesitate as if it were in neutral and then kick into gear and the car would jerk and the tires would skid.
