2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2017 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/04/2022

In April of 2022 my Escape started popping out of gear, put in park it would pop out, going down the road it started popping out of drive going into park or another gear. Your recall is for this problem. I was actually on my way to stop at a Ford dealer in April 2022 and it quit pulling all together. I had to have towed to a Ford dealer. And all they couild tell me was the transmission needed to be replaced and it would be 4 months before parts would be available and cost over $5,400 to repair. They charged me $80 to tell me this after the car had been sitting on their lot for 2 weeks. I had to have it towed to my home, where it still sits unrepaired. Will this be covered under the recall since this is exactly what was happening to the transmission and I am expecting it to be covered.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

The bushing cable that connects to the transmission to shifter had to be replaced. There is a recall on 2013/2014 models but mine was not included. I feel that mine should be covered under that recall and was fixed and diagnosed by a authorized Ford dealership . The vehicle was stationary and would not shift into gear although the gear shift was movable. Vehicle had to be towed on skids.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/31/2020

Vehicle shifts very hard when normally driving and when auto start and stop feature functions. The transmission does not know what gear it wants to stay in, often times jerking very hard, which moves the entire car at a complete stop or tosses the driver in their seat when moving and shifting. The vehicle also stalled several times, loosing throttle and function, almost causing me to get t-boned by 2 separate cars in traffic. Overall, the vehicle has issues with transmission shifts, engine realizability, and general safety features as a whole. Someone can and will get seriously injured if this is not investigated and addressed. Vehicle has been taken into the dealer who can't fix the issue, despite it happening several times, and has insisted the customer drive the malfunctioning vehicle. Ford motor company was notified about the complaint and is processing a buy back on my personal vehicle. I just don't want others to get hurt.

16 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/29/2019

As I was driving I noticed my car jerking going in to first gear. I figured because I was on a hill that was the reason. Later that day as I was trying to run errand as I got in the highway my car wouldn't go above 60 mph and was at very high rpms to maintain this speed and would not go into 6th gear. I pulled off of the highway and started to make my home to call the dealership. As I made it to a red light the car jerked again when I stopped. As I went to accelerate I made it in the middle of the intersection when my car lost all power and would only rev as if it was in nuetral. After turning it off and back on it ran well enough for me to make it home and I am currently awaiting my appointment with the dealership. I'm at 63k miles and purchased the vehicle 3 months ago and it had about 50k miles on it. I drive a 2013 Ford Escape ecoboost. This defect is very dangerous and I could have been seriously injured being stuck in an intersection like that. This issue needs to be resolved seeing that I'm not the only one who has had this issue speaking with mechanics here and the dealership who all have a number of this same vehicle with similar issues.

17 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/14/2019

Transmission failure at only 90k miles for a vehicle that was built in 2016 is absolutely crazy! the vehicle will not shift into gear and when it does it struggles to move under its own weight. The vehicle was at a stop when it jolted really hard. It felt like someone hit me from the back. After that jolt the car was making some grinding noises. We barely made it to a parking lot as the car was struggling to move in a busy street.

18 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/25/2019

Transmission would not go into gear car would not go forwards.

19 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2019 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/21/2019

Intermittent issues with the transmission not being able to shift into park. When it happens, the shiftier freely moves between all positions except will not go all the way forward to the "park" position. It can eventually be moved forward by fiddling with it or one time a passenger was able to force it. Even when this is done, the indicator in the instrument panel does not always show a gear selected so in those cases, it is unknown whether it is truly in park.

20 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/29/2019

While driving on Saturday, June 29, 2019, my car suddenly started hesitating when changing gears. The longer I drove, the more it shook, and accelerated but did not go into gear or move at all. Eventually it went into gear and took off. I managed to reach my destination and let it sit for a while, the headed home. The longer I drove, all of the above happened again. I drove it very sparingly for the next week until I was able to get the money to have it repaired. It is currently in the shop. Today I happened to come across this website and found multiple complaints from people experiencing the same problems. Is anything being done to address this issue?.

21 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

The car was parked at a gas filling station to fill the gas tank. When attempting to leave the gas station, the car registered being in reverse and would not start. Upon examination, it was determined the bushing on the transmission and would no longer shift gears. In order to move the vehicle, the transmission needed to be shifted with one person manual held the shifting cable onto the transmission while someone in the vehicle moved the gear shift. As the gears were shifted, the person holding the cable in place made sure that it did not pop off so that it could be moved into gear. If the person did not hold the cable down, it would not shift gears. We were able to get the vehicle home and repeat the process to get it into park. The car is not safely able to be driven in the condition it currently is.

22 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/29/2018

My kids and I were in the drive thru at schlotzky's when I put my car in park to order. Once my order was complete and I was ready to pull forward, I went to put my car in drive and the gear stick was moving freely but not shifting the gears for my car to move. A team member from the restaurant came out to give me a hand to find that my shifter cable was disconnected. He then told me to use the emergency brake to park my car so it would park and not continue in motion when I wanted to park. We then took it to mieneke where the car previously was for a transmission replacement. They said that my shifter cable had gone bad. Now my gear stick gets stuck with trying to shift gears.

23 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/30/2018

The vehicle's gear shift cable "breaks" leaving the vehicle inoperable unable to go into gear, drive or reverse. The vehicle drive ok then parked. The vehicle was parked in a public garage when I noticed that the vehicle would not go into gear.

24 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/10/2018

The transmission blew on this car after 3 1/2 years of ownership, 87,000 miles. The transmission began slipping (I. E. , loss of power upon shifting to accelerate) after about 1 year of ownership. I asked our local dealer where I purchased the car to check and they could not replicate. The slippage kept happening periodically, but not often enough that I could figure out what was going on. It was after the transmission blew and I researched "blown transmission" online that I realized what had been going on for years in a new car. When it did blow, I was driving, running errands around town, and was coming to a stop at a light. As I tried to put it back into gear and drive when the light turned green it would not engage into a gear to move the car. Left me stranded. Everything else was running, including the sync operated "engine assessment system" which ran an assessment and said everything in the care was operating fine, including the transmission! I had to pay for a rental car, towing for the vehicle, and it would cost me $6700 to replace the transmission. It was so damaged the service guy said it could not even be repaired. We ultimately donated the car but got nothing for a car that was 3 1/2 years old in great condition. Very disappointing. And the dealer never offered me anything. . . To pay for rental car or the diagnostic to tell me they had to replace the transmission, or even for parts for the car. I'll never buy a Ford car again.

25 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

Throttle/powertain has went out in car. I read about other complaints concerning the same thing. I was driving down the highway and my car would not change gear and the wrench light emblem came on. I was in traffic and the car was slowing down, I almost got into an accident on I-30 in arlington texas on 2/1/2018. There was a recall on this part but another year. This is highly unsafe and needs to be recalled. Thanks, for reading this complaint. Linda wafford-469-648-9106.

26 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle would not switch gears and began making a loud clanking noise as if metal parts were being banged together. The vehicle was towed to baldwin Ford in poplar bluff, missouri where it was initially diagnosed that the main power train control module needed to be replaced. Afterwards, the dealer stated that the vehicle needed a new or rebuilt transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

27 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

I purchased my 2008?Ford Escape last year 2015. I have replaced both cv axils on each side and I had my steering column replaced. I purchased the car with 95,000 miles on it at a great deal of $8,900. I then found out why it was so cheap from such a trusted dealership. The dealership was closing in the next 2 weeks. It closed shortly after my purchase and a new Ford dealership opened in its place. Through out the last few weeks my car has not been driving correctly, especially on the highway. I took a closer look and noticed that no matter my speed my car will not go above 3rd gear. My power tran light came on today. I have read on other sights that there were recalls on this issue. I do not think these issues were fixed while being recalled. The related I've done so far have not been cheap by any means. After a year (even less 2 of the above cases) I should not be having these issues. . Read more...

28 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/19/2016

Transmission started acting funny around 5 months after getting my Escape. I would put it in reverse and it would jerk or not go into gear a few seconds. Then it started shuddering when I would drive it. At first maybe a few times a day. Yesterday it started shuddering and jerking all day. At one point I thought something had hit me or I had hit something as my car literally went forward and a loud clunk was heard from behind. Scared both me and my passenger as it felt like I had hit something. I am really scared to drive this thing because I never know when it will start jerking, shudder, etc. I had an se 2013 and had no trouble with the trans but it was not a titanium model, which I believe is the problem. I am afraid to pull out of our drive today when I leave for work as it is very busy and I don't know if it is going to stall, shudder, jerk, whatever. Ford needs to do a recall on their Escapes at least the titanium models. They have all the computer stuff on those and although mine is not a top of the line titanium, it is still a titanium. I can't get this car in until next Monday a full week away. The dealership (taylor Ford) said his service department is full of transmission problems. Doesn't that tell you something??.

29 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

Escape would not shift gears when it hit 20 mph it stalls when going from a stop position. Rpms would jump up during this time until it finally does kick into gear. Took to mechanic and was told the 2nd and 4th bands on the transmission are faulty and need transmission rebuild. There is a TSB out for this problem but this is a safety issue and should be a recall. Mileage is at 101,000 miles. Having your car not accelerate from a stop position puts the driver and other drivers at risk.

30 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/05/2014

Vehicle surged forward when I came to a stop vehicle would not go into gear until I was at 3500 -4000 rpm. I got on freeway &couldn't get to speed limit. The wrench light is illuminated & when I looked up description in manual it states it is the throttle control/powertrain. After doing some research they do have recalls for this but on the 2009-2012 models. It also specified that Ford as of Feb. 2014 had issued an extended warranty for throttle body assemblies for 2005 - 2012 for 10 years or 150,000 miles. I contacted Ford & then state there is no recall nor consumer satisfaction program 13n03 for my car. Yet, the have the same consumer satisfaction program for the 2011 milans. This I know cause my daughter has a 2011 milan & she received notice. I do not understand how Ford can not comply when this Escape clearly has the same problems as the recalled vehicles for 2009-2012. All I was told was to get it fixed & keep receipt and maybe some day could get reimbursed. This is really frustrating and on Ford's part totally unaware and unfair to their consumers!.

31 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/27/2014

Travelling center lane on route 81, at 65 mph, car lost all throttle, felt like it came out of gear, while driving, and could not get into gear. Managed to get off to shoulder. Had a tractor trailer been behind me, there is no doubt they would've hit me. Apparently the dealership had 3 other Ford Escapes with the same problem in their shop. Another friend of mine just purchased her Ford Escape a couple of months ago, and she had the same problem. I feel this is a safety issue, as this happened while I was traveling at 65mph.

32 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Vehicle will not shift gears until 3250-3750 rpm. Wrench warning light turns on.

33 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/04/2013

After the April 30, 2013 (54,367miles) incident, the vehicle was repaired by the Ford dealer and on Aug 4th (58,700+/- miiles), the same symptoms appeared while driving on open freeway 65 mph with rolling hills. The vehicle experienced a power drop and surge with automatic transmission gear shifting. A warning light--mechanic wrench turned on and then there was a different engine/transmission sound and it would not shift out of gear by itself so we put it into neutral and rolled to a stop. The car was towed approx 70miles to the same Ford dealer near our home. We are waiting for the service dept to return our calls and provide the detail technical information of fault codes etc and how they plan to repair it again. Same condition, appears to be an engineering design or manufacturing defect of specific components, (throttle body, transmission).

34 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2012 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

My 2012 Ford Escape has transmission issues, and from what I'm being told it's not only my vehicle. It seems to be all over the place as I drive it. One time at a stop light it will slip, and not go into gear just acting like it is in neutral. The next time I take my foot off the brake, and it will jam it self into gear almost rear ending the vehicle in front of me. It does the same as I drive it I'm never sure which result I'm going to get, but I do get one or the other. I've had it into three Ford dealerships a total of seven times, but from rebooting the software to rebuilding the transmission from the limited parts available it continues to get worse. I was told at the last dealership that it needs a new transmission, but none are available as they have so many complaints about them. I've complained to customer service who told me to talk to customer relations, and the case manager doesn't call me back. I finally called Ford credit to tell them about the situation, but they just transferred me to the voicemail of the case manager that doesn't call me back. If they are having all the complaints I've been told about I thought someone should report it to you before gets seriously hurt.

35 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/30/2013

I was accelerating up a hill, when I noticed that it did not have any power. The car would rev up but not change gears. When I got it to the dealer they said an intermediate band broke on the transmission. Apparently the Escape is known for transmission problems. The 2nd and 4th gears go out on them. Ford would not pay for any of the repair which was $1358. 41. This is the second Escape I had with transmission problems. Needless to say I will never buy a Ford SUV again.
