Driving back home late at night on a busy freeway a mom and 2 kids by them self my car "overheat pull over safely warning came on" so I started to get over light then the went off weird so I turned the heater on it was working I still proceeded to pull off then cold air started blowing I got off pulled into gas station car died. Let it cool down popped hood no coolant after it was cool I added coolant it just poured out on to ground. Checked around checked for loose or missing hoses it looked fine, I saw behind engine you could see were oil had b leaked cause there was oil back there and coolant on top of the oil. Now car won't start had to get it towed. I believe it's a blown head gasket I always check my fluids and I know it should of been fine I checked it 3 days before that night. Now I have no car no warranties just bought it 5 months ago.

Automatic transmission- after starting torque growls, when I put it in any gear it hesitates then lurches so much the tires squeal, & sounds, feels like something in the rear of SUV is going to fall apart . Also when this happens it's scaring other drivers and pedestrians. Shakes me so hard it hurts my neck and back. Has actually thrown my purse to the floor board with anything else on the seats. All these malfunctions happen when I put in gear when starting or at red lights & stop signs. Dangerous!!! plus transmission is leaking fluid. I've quit driving it 08/08/2020 after only driving it occasionally for 2 months. I purchased this vehicle on 06/11/2020. I did/do keep transmission fluid in the SUV.

Just as my car reached 61,699 miles, the transmission fails. On March 29, I was driving on ridge rd in oak ridge, NJ and stepped on the accelerator going up a very slight hill to maintain my speed of 40 mph, but the car just started slowing down to a stop and would not move forward. As a matter of fact, it started roll backwards down the hill and I had to immediately step on the brake. The direction I was going in was on a single lane road and there were cars coming behind me. The engine was still running but the car would not engage or move. The engine was revving but no movement. In fact, the car started to go backwards into the other cars behind me. I immediately stepped on the brake to avoid hitting anyone but was not able to move the car out of the road. Someone came out of their home to help me back my car into his driveway while I called a tow truck. My car is still in the shop at fette Ford in clifton, NJ. They wouldn't even help me with financial assistance being that I was only 1,699 miles over the warranty. Is it normal for a transmission to go bad immediately after the warranty? I am an essential worker. Also, my car was in the shop on 3/2/20 before this happened for what they call the works where they check tire rotation and pressure check brake inspection vehicle checkup fluid top-off battery test filter check belts and hoses check after a certain amount of miles. They did not properly seal the oil plug because oil was leaking out of my car after I left them and I hadn't noticed until my husband told me. I would think they should have been able to catch anything wrong with the transmission. It was very busy the day I went in for the works and it took hours to get that done.

I've had this car for a little over 3 years and have been on time with every single normal upkeep and maintenance service. It currently has 87,000 miles on it, and while driving home from work, I felt the car shudder when I tried to accelerate, the gears slipped several times, and the engine would alternate between revving when I was barely touching the gas, to not going anywhere at all when I had the pedal to the floor. I had to have it towed and was told that it had major transmission issues. Mechanic said that there was a gasket that failed and caused a transmission leak. And thanks to the design transmission fluid is not something that I can check myself.
I just bought this vehicle used in April and I'm already hearing loud noises when I start the car and grinding noises when I accelerate. I took the vehicle to a mechanic who confirmed that the way this vehicle was manufactured, caused a leak that was dripping fluid and causing softening of the gears? he said is would eventually lead to overheating. I am now experiencing unexpected accelerations while driving and difficult breaking.
Low coolant light appeared. Had oil changed/fluids topped. A week later, coolant light appeared and check engine light came on. Took it back to place that changed my oil. Coolant was not low. They used a diagnostic code reader that indicated cylinder 2 had misfired 3 times (I was unaware). A few days later, took it to have checked (firestone). They used a diagnostic code that said the same thing but one of the mechanics related he had just fixed a Ford Escape having the same issue and that they had then figured out there was a recall for the problem. Ford says my VIN is not included in the recall. There has been no leak noted this entire time. The engine light went off. I drove it approximately 25 minutes, went in to a business for 2 hours, came back out and started the car, pulled out of the parking lot and saw the check engine light and a message that the engine was overheating and pull over safely (which I did immediately). There was no obvious sign that the engine was overheating (steam, odor, leaking, etc). The vehicle would only start, but would not accelerate at all. Had it towed to johnson city Ford which told me that they would have to drop the engine to determine the cause ($1700) and that the total repair job would cost between $3500-$7000+ depending on the cause and damage (may have to have a new motor!). He then told me it would be about 3 +weeks before they could repair it since there are 5 just like it waiting to be serviced! I questioned him about this. He related that there were 5 Ford Escapes with a coolant low/overheating issue currently in their shop. My vehicle was bought brand new. It is garage kept and serviced regularly. I do not understand how a vehicle that is well-kept and has under 90,000 miles can suddenly, without warning or reason, have this kind of issue? why hasn't there been a recall on this issue?.

I just bought this 2016 Ford Escape in October, 2018. It made it until Mar. 2019. No warning light, nothing. It has 78,000 miles and the transmission blew. They are telling me at the jensen Ford dealership that it will cost 6,508. 00 due to all that is wrong with the transmission. When it gets hot it leaks transmission fluid badly. It took only 2 days and no warning and it blew. Now I can't pay for it, Ford will not pay for it and I believe they should.
Starting in may 2018, coolant light came on, I replaced fluid. Since then it has become a constant. I took it to 2 dealers they say nothing is wrong. I out a large cardboard under car & the leakage is very obvious. I put almost a gallon of coolant in vehicle in one month. Got in touch with Ford, they said contact you & go to another Ford dealer for another inspection of leak. Ford also said there is no recall for this model but other models of 2013 & 2014 have this problem & they are the same type of car.
Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle it began having issues with the transmission. They included uncontrolled acceleration, deceleration, rough shifting, transmission and fluid leaks. The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times from 1 day to over 90 days at a time. Several repairs took 5-7 weeks. Initially the Ford dealership and Ford motor CO. Covered the repairs and provided a rental car on two occasions. The issue has not been fully resolved as the vehicle has been in the Ford shop since April 1, 2017 while it was being diagnosed and I tried to discuss the issues with Ford since they refused to cover the repairs. Ford denied our claim to replace the vehicle with less than 25,000 miles on the vehicle under the California "lemon law" statutes. The issues have nearly caused several accidents and the vehicle had to be towed to the shop at one point as I felt it was unsafe to drive. The uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration usually took place at freeway speeds of 55-70 mph. The rough shifting was commonly during a first start or when approaching or pulling away from a stop at an intersection. It would shift rough at speeds 20-35 on residential roadways. The leaks were typically discovered after freeway driving. I have numerous documents and the system would not accept them all so I uploaded a few as samples. The vehicle has been in the shop since April 1, 2017 so I do not have the documents showing the current issues. Ford has been difficult to work with and has refused to cover any repairs. Ford motor company informed me that they "self report" claims like this to NHTSA and provide NHTSA with my contact information. They also told me my only options would be to file a lawsuit against Ford or report the issue to NHTSA as a safety concern. I believe this vehicle has an inherent defect that is a serious safety issue.
Bought 2011 Ford Escape XLT used 5-27-2016 (private sale, chicago IL). Upon purchase, serviced at milwaukee area Ford dealership, found front control arms & bushings torn/loose. Next, front sway bars, outer tie rod ends, brakes and rotors needed replacement. In oct. 2016 engine/transmission major issues: leaking oil and trans fluid -no oil lamp or check engine light- car would run out of oil, pulled over added more. Trans slipping during accel/weak accel. Hard shifting w/high rpms. Rough idle. Ticking noise under hood when brakes applied. 12-6-2016 Ford dealership replaced gaskets & seals in engine & transmission- $2,000 repair. Upon driving car, issues continue, new issues present: trans slipping worse/bucking, car not accelerating when gas pedal depressed, car stalling in traffic, car lurching forward, car losing gasoline/smelling of gasoline. Broke down 12-8-2016 in parking lot due to fuel leak. Contacted aaa roadside assistance, returned to dealership, turned away. Fire dept cleared car for towing, fire hazard. Researched VIN, found recall for fuel delivery modulator flange, and field service action for electronic throttle body. Contacted Ford customer support, verified recall for my VIN. Advised to not operate vehicle. Area Ford dealerships refused to diagnose w/o charging. A service manager at a Mazda dealership diagnosed additional undisclosed repairs: a/c line ruptured, front driver's side sway bar snapped and control arm bushing separated; Ford mechanic had also left bolts & hoses loose/unclamped in engine. Steering and rear suspension deteriorating. Returned to dealership once more- turned away. Missed 1 month of work (driving is job). No rental provided, unwilling to reimburse. Filed dealer complaint. Filing consumer protection & disclosure lawsuit. Seeking class action lawsuit against Ford motor company. Car is dangerous, I refuse to operate it.

Transmission - center support snap ring failure at 47,774 miles on vehicle. While parked attempting to shift from "park" to "drive" very loud clunking sound under vehicle at shifter/center console. Vehicle was inspected 8/2016 all fluids topped off at dealer. A few days ago heard loud clunking sound - checked transmission fluid "none" completely empty (no leaking on ground) filled transmission fluid - same sound - immediately took to dealer. Dealer advised center support snap ring failed - instructed me to call Ford directly reference "Ford special service message #22547" as this is a "known defect with this vehicle". Called Ford directly - case number was opened but no offer to assist with transmission replacement. Dealer quoted $4,500 to replace transmission $2,600 for repair (repair is only guaranteed for 2 years) replacement is guaranteed for 3 years. Thanks for nothing Ford!.

2008 Ford Escape failed to accelerate while making turn into traffic. Examination revealed significant leak of transmission fluid from transmission fluid cooler resulting in "slippage" of transmission. Investigation of issue found that leakage was a cracked tube at right hand mounting bracket of transmission fluid cooler. This condition is covered by Ford csp 09b10, but had not been brought in for mitigation by previous owner. Ford has expired csp 09b10 as of August 2010, even though the condition appears to be a certainty (based on abundant internet commentary) relatively early in mileage life of vehicle (my Escape has very moderate mileage). Rapid and unexpected change in transmission performance is a safety issue, and should be subject to appropriate recall as opposed to a "fix-it" bulletin. Ford has indicated that they will not provide remediation of this problem.

For a few months low coolant light would come on and I would fill it. Then check engine light came on. Before I could have it checked out, I was driving for only five minutes and a red indicator light came on and the car slowed down. It read, high engine temperature, stop safely. Managed to get car home and checked the level of coolant/antifreeze. It was well below the min level. Filled it up and the fluid leaked out right away. Took it to Ford dealer for service. It was a faulty coolant diverter valve that needed to be replaced. Ford told me that it was not covered under the powertrain warranty which was a little confusing to me. Also, I know there were many recalls on this vehicle that were taken care of. One involving cooling system. Not sure if this problem I just had was related to a previous recall.
Was diving down the road with my two kids in the car when I heard a pop I looked in my rearview and watched as a small part went bouncing down the road than it slowed down immediately and I couldn't accelerate or drive it stopped dead in the middle of the road I got out and my transmission fluid had gushed out all over the bottom and back rear windshield took it to a garage it is the transmission it needs to totally be replaced I'm guessing the trans cooler was leaking fluid and after the fluid was to low that it literally blew up I don't understand why there has not been a recall the 2008 Ford Escape has the most complaints than any other year it's insaine my car died in the middle of the road on a hill in the middle of no where with two little kids n the car we are so lucky that we didn't get smashed into by someone they better fix this problem I should sue Ford for selling faulty transmissions and not fixing them and I don't understand after all of the complaints you have had why the safety comics ion or the government has not done a recall on this year especially I've read over 800 complaints and r stone has been the. Same thing with my year and moe it doesn't matter how many times the transmission is replaced you get about 24k to 40k before you need to replace them again.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. While parked, the vehicle leaked fluid. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was leaking fluid and would need to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where it was confirmed that the transmission was leaking fluid and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The condenser is combined with power steering and transmission. This vehicle should not of had a leak as it only has 28311 miles on it. This is bad for ground water as fluid leaks goes on street and into storm drains. Cost to fix is about $700. 00.
Vehicle was stopped at intersection. Upon attempting to initiate right turn, engine suddenly revved as if in neutral gear, and vehicle had no acceleration. Dealer diagnosed a left-side axle seal leak and said that transmission fluid was "all over". When asked if this was unusual for a new vehicle, dealer remarked that it was not, and said that it was the third seal leak they had seen in a week.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that there was an oil leak. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that there was a transmission fluid leak from the condenser, which needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 139,700.
I was driving at about 15 mph when I started to accelerate I felt the vehicle jerk. I pulled into the gas station and checked my transmission fluid and it was near empty. A diagnostic of the power train at an independent repair shop revealed that the transmission would need to be rebuilt or replaced. There are thousands of complaints on youtube and various consumer sites to the shooty design of the 4 cylinder Ford Escape models. In the end, Ford has not recalled the transmissions on the Escape models. To fix my transmission from leaking they replaced the seals and informed me to check my fluids every month. I was informed by the independent repair shop before hand, that just replacing the seals would not be enough and I can expect the problem again. The car now has less than 52000 miles, mostly highway. The power trains have a flawed design and needs to be recalled before thousand of motorist are forced to pay for expensive remedies due to no fault of there own. It is up to the government to force a recall on the Ford Escape power train systems.
My wife had started the 2009 Ford Escape and was traveling at a speed of approximately 5mph, pulling into traffic. The car began moving, felt as if there as no power. She checked to ensure that the car was in drive. The car would not go over 5 mph. The wrench light came on, no speedometer reading, and she proceeded attempting to engage the car again. The car was drivable for three miles home, with no speedometer reading, limited power. As she drove, she needed to put the car in park to steady the car. A she proceeded to re-engage the car the shifter was "clunky, slipping, and did not feel secure". She did get the car safely home, however we checked the car about an hour after this experience and the car continues to not seem to engage the power train, is not shifting properly, has no power in the engine. There appear to be no leakage of fluids, the car has been properly serviced, has fuel, has a new battery, and we are wondering if this issue is now covered under any warranty. Please initiate an investigation to the many complaint that seem to follow a similar pattern with this vehicle.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was having routine maintenance performed, the technician found that transmission fluid was leaking from the condenser at an alarming rate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,400. Mh.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, she noticed that the transmission was leaking fluid. The contact also noticed that the transmission was slipping sporadically while driving. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the connector that linked the transmission to the air conditioning unit failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was called about the issue. The failure and current mileages were 71,000.
Transmission has previously been repaired for leaking transmission fluid at approx. 25,000. Now, at about 60,000 miles the transmission has seized. It appears many owners are having problems with the transmissions on this vehicle and Ford is trying to say that abnormal noise and failures are typical.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact noticed that there was a fracture in the air conditioning condenser, which was causing transmission fluid to leak. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but the technicians were unable to determine the cause of the leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 58,930. Updated 04/19/lj updated 04/25/12.
On several occasions the transmission lags, or shifts hard, slips, hesitate when put in reverse, have had the vehicle back to dealer twice, first time was told the computers were not communicating the way they should, the second which was today, was told it was a quart low? vehicle now has 32000 on it it does not leak fluid, and was low on fluid when bought new from dealer why is this happening? dealer says it is because of low fluid, but I am not buying that. And probably will not buy another.
I noticed a transmission fluid leak toward the front of the vehicle. The car was beginning to shift erratically, and slipping between gears at highway speeds. Was causing some concern while driving in the fast lane of the interstates. It was beginning to spray up under the hood, and I was worried about it getting on the exhaust manifold and starting a fire. After doing tons of research on line, if find out about a trans cooler defect. I see this has happened to 100's if not 1000's of people that owned 2008 Escapes. I was told Ford did do some repairs on these cars that where built early 2008, and that a csp (customer satisfaction program) was sent out March 2010, and expired in August 2010. My Escape was built in sept. 2007, which should have covered it. Ford sent a csp #09b10 to owners for a replacement because of the know defect to the cooler. Since I didn't not own the vehicle until November 2010, I had no idea of the problem, and since the original owner never took it in for repair, I have to pay the price. I called Ford customer care, and both them, and the Ford dealer acknowledge the defect, but would not cover it. Since there is no recall, and the csp is over, I had to pay $644. 41 out of my pocket. This is ridicules I am paying for a defect that Ford knows about. They both told me to hold on to my receipt in case there is a recall I can get reimbursed. I think this is the last Ford I will own. Even though this is connected to the drive train, and keeps your transmission from failing, its not a drive train part, and Ford will not cover cause its not internal. As far as I see it! its power train related, and if it unknowingly fails, the transmission will fail. Hopefully Ford does the right thing, and repairs or reimburses the customer that had it repaired for the mistake Ford made with the deffective part before someone gets hurt.
I purchased a 2008 Ford Escape new in September 2008. After 50,000 miles I noticed a buzzing sound from the engine compartment. After searching the internet for probable causes, I discovered a TSB stating that idler pully may fail prematurely. I purchased and replaced the pully and noticed a transmission fluid leak near the radiator. After searching the internet some more, I discovered another TSB stating that the transmission coolers crack due to a flawed design. I contacted Ford through the website and they stated thier are no recalls for my vehicle and directed me to the dealership that sold my vehicle. The repair estimates are between 800-1000 dollars. I have exceeded my warranty and multiple persons have stated that Ford does not honor it anyway for this component. I have owned 3 Fords with the similar issues. Ford posts tsbs not recalls even though the defects are caused by poor designs. If the cost benifit analysis doesn't add up in their favor, expect to pay out of pocket. I no longer allow my wife to drive this vehicle and fully expect to trade it in shortly.
Found puddle of transmission fluid on driveway. Transmission cooler is leaking just like all 2008 Ford Escapes. Not covered by warranty. Dealer charges $816. Why isn't it covered by a recall? we are disappointed.
I was in my car and when I stepped on the gas to accelerate and pull out on to the road, my engine raced and I only rolled forward, down the small slope, into traffic. After about 3 seconds my transmission caught and the car jumped forward and I momentarily lost control, barely missing another car in the other lane. Turns out almost all of the transmission fluid had leaked out from the transmission cooler, causing a malfunctioning transmission. After bringing the vehichle in to get inspected, and talking to multiple dealers, they all say that they consistently fix this issue on the 2008 Ford Escape. Some even say they have trouble stocking the part because they do so many. The vehichle has a faulty transmission cooler/ac condensor that consistently breaks and causes the vehichle to lose transmission fluid, resulting in unsafe vehichles.
As I was driving the car the throttle suddenly would not let me 'go' any further and the car slowed to a stop in the middle of the road. When stopped, it shuddered in place until I turned the car off. This happened another time just after a busy intersection, but Ford apparently does not deem this a safety concern, even though this is a family vehicle and the consequences for problems like this could be terrible. The vehicle has been in the shop 5 times in the last year for the above problem twice, another couple of times for leaking transmission fluid (which I am also led to believe could cause the car to stop in traffic if the leak remains undetected one of these times), and another for hard shifts both accelerating and decelerating. All of these problems are ones that Ford seems unable to fix and doesn't seem to care happened. I keep waiting for a recall to be issued for at least some of these problems, since in several situations I do feel very strongly this was a safety issue and do not appreciate my children having to ride in an unreliable car. I also do not have the money to throw at a 2010 car every couple of months. I would appreciate your looking into these problems. Thanks!.

I had purchased this truck new from the dealer in March of 2008, this truck has had many problems in the past starting with the day I bought the truck. Now a few year's later the "a. C. Condenser" was leaking transmission fluid and the dealer is now telling me that it is not covered under my "drive train warranty". I am not a mechanic but the several mechanic's that I have spoken to said that, that part is vital to the power train. I am a young struggling nurse trying to pay off school loans, and they are telling me that this is going to cost $700. 00, I cannot afford it and I need my truck. I bought this new with the impression that these things will not be an issue and if they were they would be covered by Ford's warranty. I have done some research on the internet and this is a major problem with this specific year and truck. I am hoping that you guy's will be able to help with this matter. Thank you and god bless.
