1 Transmission Failure problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/22/2024

My 2015 Ford Escape se has a defective transmission. While driving on the interstate, the car suddenly lost power and would not exceed 5 mph. The interstate was busy and I was almost hit by 3 different vehicles swerving to go around me until I could find a safe place to pull off the interstate. I had my car towed to a certified mechanic and they confirmed the transmission had failed and needs to be replaced. Repair estimate $5000.

2 Transmission Failure problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/21/2023

Driving along just fine went pass another car on the road. While acelarating the made a sudden hard shift and then started to hessitate. The car did this down town phx 75 to 25 causing to cars behind me to crash into each other so yeah I have to say that would be a saftey issue. As it was doing this the car said transmission failure. So I had the car towed and when I got it home I hooked it up to my autel code reader bi directional scanner. There was a proplem with 1st gear not having the correct ratio and 6th gear invalid ratio. That is all it said.

6 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/21/2021

Premature transmission failure with no warning at all while traveling at 75 miles per hour on the highway and an accident was narrowly avoided. Car was towed to dealership and they did confirm the transmission has failed and needs to be replaced. It appears this is a known issue yet they will not do anything to help the consumer except tell them it failed and they have to replace it for $6000 dollars. After much research there are hundreds of complaints on this same issue on this exact vehicle and the transmission is failing people while driving without warning - this is going to get someone injured or killed as there is no warning of potential transmission issues - just fails while driving out of nowhere and on vehicles that should not be having transmission issues yet. Ford is doing nothing about this but they know of the issue - they just leave the cars out there so someone can possibly get hurt. This is a huge safety concern and I cannot believe there is not a recall on this vehicle. This needs to be investigated in full and the consumers taken care of as you cannot knowlingy put faulty transmissions in cars and let the consumer get injured or even possibly killed.

7 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/28/2021

Transmission failure warning came up on dash. I saw the rpms go up to over 120. I had no previous problems with the car before this incident. Car rapidly lost acceleration while driving 60mph on state road 80 in labelle FL. Since the car lost acceleration so fast the car behind me had to pass quickly as to not hit me. Other cars behind had to continually pass until I could move from the left lane to the right, and then to the shoulder to safely pull off the road. I had to wait there with the car for over an hour before aaa came to tow it. Mechanic at aamco transmission total care in bonita springs, FL identified a burned drum. He showed me grooves in it that should not have been there, it should have been smooth. Computer scan gave codes p0219 engine overspeed condition, p0729 incorrect gear ratio 6th, p07aa trans friction element e. I have the drum and other parts that had to be replaced. The repair took 6 weeks as the torque converter was on backorder from Ford. This repair was $4047. 00.

10 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

As I was driving down the road I noticed I wasn't accelerating; as I tried to press on the accelerator the rpms would increase, but the vehicle would not speed up. I pulled off the to a side road, stopped the car, put it in park and then back into drive and had no change in ability to accelerate. I tried turning it off and back on. As I then tried to get the car back home (thankfully I wasn't far) I had to put it in low gear and could only go 10-15 mph. The transmission failure light came up at this point. After trying to let the vehicle cool down, there was no change. I had the vehicle repaired at a transmission shop; costing $4,100; the transmission mechanic couldn't tell me exactly what went wrong other than it had overheated in the transmission and there was a lot of internal damage. I am still struggling with issues with accelerating when the vehicle is cold. The vehicle is sluggish and shifts very hard when it is cold. The mechanic is looking into it again.

11 Transmission Failure problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

Abs failure. The car brakes may at times lock-up without notice. Transmission failure: the transmission acts as if it's in neutral when in both forward gear or reverse. Transmission appears to be in good repair but this issue persist. This issue appears to occur from a beginning acceleration such as putting car in reverse and accelerating or putting car in drive and accelerating. This also happens when you may be stopped at a traffic light and attempt to proceed only to have the car act as if it's in neutral. This slipping in and out of gear issue seems to only happen from a take off speed.

12 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/05/2020

Cause of failure is believed to be transmission failure (mileage 96,649). Customer was driving the vehicle (city street; approximately 35mph) and then suddenly the engine started revving (similar to the car being in neutral) and the vehicle speed started to slow down (due to the transmission not providing forward momentum). The vehicle was pulled over to a side street so it could be parked and safely removed from vehicle traffic. The vehicle is being assessed by the dealer we purchased it from (ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, 310 broadway Ave, bedford, OH 44146). I have read that other owners of 2014 Ford Escapes have had similar problems and concerns with their transmissions. I would like to know if Ford is going to issue a recall regarding this transmission.

13 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/17/2020

My 2016 Ford Escape had a total transmission failure without warning while I was driving on a city street, approx. Going 45 to 50 mph. The transmission went out of gear and lost power. The transmission would stall and then suddenly go into gear without warning causing my Escape to jerk forward. I parked my Escape and had it towed to a repair shop. I was told by the repair shop that the transmission was "burned up" and had to be replaced. I had a rebuilt transmission in my Escape, costing me $3,700 in repairs.

15 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/10/2020

Transmission began failing approximately September/October 2018, just over 75,000 miles and after the expiration of the warranty. The transmission was rebuilt in January 2019 @ a cost of $3300. 00. The electrical controls (radio & hvac) on console and dashboard have a shortage and go out regularly. I pointed this shortage out when the vehicle was purchased and I was told it was fixed when I came to pick it up. . There are also issues with the battery. I replaced the battery in November 2018 with a Ford battery. 4 months later, in February 2019 it failed to start due to excessive leakage with corrosive exposure. Ford crossroads replaced it at that time (2019) with another new Ford battery and on September 10, 2020 the battery failed again. Mechanic had to clean up the irregular corrosion on the battery and the posts. Documentation is not available at the time of this post but can be retrieved if requested.

Failure Date: 08/29/2020

Transmission failed with no warning. Driving home one day, getting off the highway, the car had a delay in accelerating and would then suddenly lurch forward. Tried to make it home with the car, eventually a "transmission fault" message came up. Now car is sitting in my driveway, only 4 years old and I can't use it to work or anything, we barely got home. 25 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

On January 10, 2020 while vehicle was being driven at approximately 30 mph on public road with slight decline in road at that point, the SUV spontaneously disengaged from gear. When accelerator pedal was pressed, the engine would rev at high rate of speed but vehicle acted as though in neutral. The driver coasted to side of road, shut off engine for a couple of minutes, re-started, put into gear, at which time the SUV would lurch forward about 15 feet and then disengage again. Proceeded down the road this way until SUV could not advance at all, now at uphill. It was towed to closest repair garage where diagnosis was complete transmission failure. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had exhibited no signs whatsoever of transmission problems, no difficulties shifting into gears, no hesitation of automatic shifting between gears. It has been properly maintained. Mileage at time of event was approximately 79465 miles.

26 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/05/2020

We bought 2013 Ford Escape in July, 2016, with approximately 62,000 miles. At 64,000 miles, after constant overheating issues, Ford agreed to replace the engine. There were overheating issues on the new engine at time of install (stated in dealer notes), but they "fixed" them. The car now has 103,000 miles. Has been serviced regularly, with occasional overheating issues noted. Transmission failed last month. Waited over 2 weeks for diagnosis. Transmission needs to be replaced and another new engine is needed because of coolant leak. Our extended warranty expired at 100,000 miles. Contacted Ford customer service and they refuse to do anything to help. It seems that they put another defective engine in at 64,000 miles because you should get more that 40,000 miles on a new engine. The cost to repair this piece of junk is prohibitive and I feel very unhappy with Ford's response.

27 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

2013 Ford Escape experiences apparent transmission failures at highway speeds. Often during passing acceleration. Repeated instances. From 50k miles to 70k miles. One instance involving all wheels locking up at 80mph (felt like a shift into park) and the others involving drivetrain power loss and jerking. After car restart, codes "apparently" disappear and dealers are unable to identify any issues without codes.

30 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

After pulling onto the highway, I attempted to accelerate my automatic 2014 Ford Escape. My engine revved, but I had no acceleration. It sounded as if I was in neutral. I tried to shift gears, but the issue persisted as my car nearly came to a halt on the busy highway. I was able to make it to the right lane even though it put me in front of an onramp and guard rail. I was beginning to lose any forward momentum to the point that my car was slipping backward. I pushed the brake. I was able to quickly turn off my car, turn it back on, and accelerate a few feet before I lost acceleration again. I did this 3 times before being able to safely pull off the highway past the onramp and guardrail. I was about 15 minutes from meeting up with my husband and two young girls to travel further onto a busy highway toward Friday afternoon boston traffic. I feel fortunate that the timing was what it was, but unfortunately, the issue was my transmission failed at only 92,000 on a vehicle from 2014. I just had the vehicle in the mechanic shop on the Tuesday prior to this Friday event, and was told there should be no issues taking it on the highway for a trip with the family. My vehicle was towed to the local vip for an assessment. We were told it was likely the transmission, which they said was a "known issue" in this make and model. Fuming at the thought of this being a "known issue" and understanding the implications of this cost, I did a quick search. Sure enough, there are myriad people that have experienced this at 40,000, 70,000 and 90,000 miles on this same make and model. We had it towed to our local mechanic who assessed it independently of vip and shared again that this is a "known issue" with this make and model. I have to wonder why this "known dangerous issue" has not prompted a recall. Happy to provide my bill for the repair, which will take place 12/30.

31 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

2014 Ford Escape-79k miles- while driving the car wouldn't give power and hesitated when trying to take off. Also puttered and eventually didn't want to drive at all. I had to shut off the car in the middle of the road and restart it to get it to move and eventually made it home doing this several times. Thankfully I was not on the highway as it would have been a complete disaster. Took the car to my mechanic the next morning, mechanic informed me the transmission fluid level was full but transmission had failed. Said this is rare for a fairly unused car with low miles but common problem in Ford Escapes. I left the mechanic in tears with a $125. 00 fee and a $3,500 quote to have it repaired. Working on those funds now to repair the car, which is not yet paid off. If it was I would trade it in and never get another Ford again. Incredibly frustrating. I've had a Honda accord with 200k+ miles and this never happened. Along with my Toyota highlander. Ford needs to do something and recall this issue along with reimbursements because this is insane.

32 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

Transmission failed at 70,000 miles while traveling 60 miles per hour on a state highway. Lurched 2 - 3 times then transmission failure light went off. No power at all. Fortunately there no were vehicles behind me or surely I would have been rear ended. Was able to get off road. Need total replacement $3,700. 5 payments left on original loan. Extended warranty at dealer was too expensive.

33 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 40 mph and attempting to accelerate, the rpms would increase; however, the vehicle did not respond properly.
