1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/08/2021

As I was driving my car about 45-50mph , it started to sputter, then the rpms shot up and I could't accelerate, lost speed. My transmission failure light came on. I pulled over and put it in park. I was very close to home so I tried to drive to make it home and not be stranded a mile from home. It did it again, then my transmission failure light came on again. It also wouldn't go into reverse, it would just rev up. It would only go into reverese after I put it in park a couple times. If I turned the car off, then on, I could go a few feet before it would just rev up and couldn't accelerate. Its making a loud wining noise. I had it towed to leonardtown Ford.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/12/2021

The car suddenly lost acceleration power while driving at approximately 35 mph. Driver pulled to safe area and stopped car at which point it would not move. No warning/emergency lights displayed in the instrument cluster (no check engine, battery, overheat, or other had been previously displayed). Towed to closest Ford dealer. Diagnostics stated transmission failure (92,000 mi; bought used from Ford dealer in 2017 with 60k miles). Transmission replaced. During test drive following replacement, Ford dealer mechanic identified a rattling noise. This noise was not heard prior to the failure but may have been present during the transmission failure but not heard because of the sudden loss of power/ability to accelerate while driving in traffic. The mechanic returned to the dealership where further inspection revealed a cracked flywheel/flexplate. Research shows that there has been a recall for similar Ford cars (I. E. Edge) for this exact issue and repairs included in the recall included repairs of transmission. Additionally, transmission/flexplate failures in the 2014 Escape is included in a 2020 class action settlement alleging Ford actively concealed engine & transmission failures. Vehicles identified in this settlement should be recalled. Consumers who have already paid for identified failures should be reimbursed parts/labor by Ford. The vehicle in this incident was also included in a prior engine recall. The engine was replaced by a Ford dealer in may 2018.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/13/2021

When driving on highway, Escape lost ability to accelerate or stay above 1000 rpm. Pulled off road, turned vehicle off, and restarted vehicle, tried to drive it, heard a "clunk" noise and smelled something burning. Vehicle could move and change gears, but not accelerate to drive, turned vehicle off and had it towed to mechanic. Mechanic diagnosed it as a transmission issue. Vehicle is currently in the shop for a more thorough diagnosis and possible repair. Vehicle had 104,000 miles on it at the time of incident.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/31/2020

Here I sit with a 4 year old car with less than 72,000 miles getting it's transmission rebuild!!! after seeing all the complaints I do not understand why this has not been a recall yet?? this is very sorry on Fords end. There should be a recall for this transmission. It gave me very little warning. Made a noise, less than half a mile jumped to 5,000 rpms then that was it. . . Dead on the side of the road. Let's not talk about how hard it is to get parts for this transmission #1 due to the age #2 due to the virus. Fix this issue Ford!!!!.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/15/2020

Started to hear a humming noise while driving down the street after turning left from a light the car started to decelerate. The car seemed like it didn't have any energy so I pulled over to stop and cut the car off. Once restarted the car started to drive like normal shortly then began to decrease speed again. At that moment I made a right turn into a driveway and the transmission fault service now light came on. Car only had 96,000 miles on it and service manual says check at 115,000. Car was towed to tomball Ford where I was told I needed a transmission replacement. I'm unsure why this hasn't been recalled yet due to the high amount of complaints with the same cookie cutter issues. It's very unfortunate that we are the ones who have to be put in danger and endure financial hardships for a car with prevalent issues.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2017 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

Ii took my car in for an oil change before it reached 60,000 miles. I ask them to check the transmission because it felt like it was slipping , it would go slow going up a hill sometimes and would feel like it wasn't moving when you pushed the gas pedal. The dealership said it was fine. At 74,000 miles the cars transmission just stopped moving after making a loud noise, we were on a busy interstate, but managed to make it home took it to the dealership and they said the transmission had burnt transmission fluid which meant I needed a new transmission. I have only had this vehicle 3 years. Ford is only willing to pay half the repair . No one buys a car and expects to have to pay to get the transmission repaired before the vehicle is paid for. I have 2 more years of payments . I work at a hospital in chattanooga, tennessee . I drive about 40 miles each way. I have to go to work during this covid-19 . I would expect Ford to repair my vehicle at no cost being I had taken it in before .

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

Had a winter spell that brought about 6 inches of snow. When I left for work I got stuck at a stop sign and found myself unable to go forward or backwards. I therefore employed standard winter driving tactics slowly changing back and forth from reverse to drive in a rocking motion to get the vehicle unstuck. After freeing the vehicle I then proceeded to drive towards my work but the vehicle wouldn't stay in gear. Now the vehicle won't go into a moving gear except for every once in a while and only for a few seconds before it slips back out of gear and won't move. Can also hear a loud grinding / clacking noise coming from up front around the transmission.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2020 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/02/2019

Since day one of ownership, it has a vibration in the steering when approaching 25mph then the vibration continues all the way to 75mph. Also at approx. 25mph an low humming sound starts. The humming sound gets loader as speed increases along with the road noise. The humming and vibration stop as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator. But resumes again as soon as the accelerator is pressed. This vibration feels as if a wheel is loose or coming off or the the engine and transmission are going to fail causing a serious problem. This by no means is normal. Both dealerships personnel that drove the vehical said its not normal.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/07/2019

While traveling on a two lane state road at approx. 45 mph. At night. A clunking noise began near the front of the vehicle. Seconds after hearing the clunking noise, the vehicle stalled while still traveling around 35 mph. When I tried to pull over to the side of the road I notice a loss of power steering and brakes. I was able to coast on to the breakdown lane. Having only seconds to remove the vehicle from the dark roadway and safely stop with out striking anything or body was terrifying. The vehicle did restart but when selecting drive it would not move. It also would not back up when selecting reverse. The vehicle had to be towed to a repair shop. I was told the next day by the repair shop the transmission failed, and had to be rebuilt or replaced. I called mfg. Customer service and explained what happened because there was a 60000 mile powertrain warranty . However the vehicle had 64,816 currently. Therefore I had to pay $ 2295 for the transmission rebuild.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

The vehicle was in motion on a 55mph road at night time when the transmission decided to stop working! no prior notifications went off on the car before it stopped working. After I managed to roll to a safe spot I shut of the car, let it cool, then turned it back on. When putting the car in drive it went in reverse! there is a cat scratching like noise happening in the transmission. All of this happened only two month after buying the car. This should not happen to a car!! I have seen recalls on transmissions just like mine however mine did not meet the required date because it was build 2 months before the other 2013 vehicles.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/17/2019

I was driving on the expressway and my car started to slow down. I assumed it was gas because my tank was low. I put gave in my car and my car did not start until 2 tries. When it came on the transmission light came on and my car started makeing a very loud weird noise. I've only had the car twice and this have already happened to me twice.

12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

I was driving home from work and without no warning signs when I went to go at a green light it just didn't want to go and was making a whining noise. Had to have it towed. Have gotten 3 different technicians from 3 different places and said that the transmission needs replaced. I have been doing a lot of research and have found that Ford has had transmission problems from around 2010-2016. Why has there not been a recall, especially since the repair cost is $4000-$6000.

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

I was driving to work. Had no noise , lights, or warning of any kind. . I was pushing on the gas pedal. . The car quit moving. I thought maybe a computer error. Coasted to the side of the road, turned the car off. . Waited a minute. . Re started it. . Started to drive. . Went just a few feet and it did it again. . . Again. . No noise, warning lights. . Nothing. I made a phone call. . I was right around the corner from a car repair shop. Really kinda coasted in. Of course they looked at it. . Gave me the great news as to it had catastrophic transmission failure. I had it towed from there to a Ford dealership. . They found the same issue. The tow company that towed my car in the next 2 weeks towed 4 of them. . All with transmission issues. I also talked to a transmission shop that stated Ford is having and has been having transmission problems. Ir was a little scary and dangerous to be driving 55mph in morning traffic and have your car just wait moving.

14 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/19/2019

In January 2019 my daughter was driving the vehicle and it stopped in the middle of the street and it would not go backwards or forward and there was a loud whining noise coming underneath the hood. 31 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/14/2010

I purchased a 2010 Ford Escape 1/2/10. A couple of weeks after the purchase I went to back up and then go forward. In doing so, when I put the car into gear to go forward there was a jerking motion as well as a loud clunking noise under the car. Since that time, I have on numerous occasions experience the same thing. As the car switches gears it will jerk with the same noise. It feels as if the whole bottom of the car is coming apart and about to fall off. I have experienced this at different speeds and it does not happen all the time, but when it does you definitely know it. In the last three days it has happened twice. I try to notice the rpm's to see if it is in the midst of changing gears or not and it is not always when it is due to change gears. I took it to the Ford dealer where I purchased the vehicle and they took it for a drive and found nothing wrong. They then did a diagnostic and said they found the factory failed to enter all the correct coding for the transmission so they kept the car and updated it. Once I received the car back it has continued to do the same thing. I went online and found the 2005-2009 Escape owners had the exact problem I am currently experiencing and found the transmissions burned out at approx 20,000 miles. Ford is telling me there is nothing wrong with mine as the problem had been fixed. I took it back in Friday evening and was told they just received information that some dealers found they have had to take the 2010 models in, tear out the transmissions and put them together starting from scratch to stop the problem. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. I don't want to wait and have my transmission go out before they will finally see there is a problem.

32 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/13/2009

My first incident with my 2009 Ford Escape happened shortly after I bought it. After just starting my truck and driving a short distance, the truck would not accelerate but the rpm's were roaring to over 6000 and my truck finally shot out into traffic. Luckily on a very busy street, no one was coming at the time. After that the truck had multiple incidents of not accelerating in traffic and a roaring and rapid rise in rpm's. I learned to immediately turn my car off (in the middle of the road) and then restart and it would usually work properly. It can be very scary. It would often slam into gear when this happened which I know was not good for my transmission. This happened intermittently so I knew it might be hard for a technician to replicate. When I took it to the dealer for 3 years they said everything was fine. When my warranty was up I went in and insisted that they fix my truck. They replaced a tie rod, fixed the sway bar linkage and said it was fine. It started making really loud noises a month later and I took it to my mechanic who again fixed the linkage. I called Ford and they kept the truck for a couple weeks and did extensive transmission work. It has had 2 problem since but not as bad. I still worry about front end issues after 3 years of slamming into gear with the engine revving. I bought this vehicle(usually I leased my truck) because I was retiring and now I feel I must get rid of it because of anticipated mechanical trouble.
