1 Interior Rearview Mirror problem of the 2012 Ford Escape

There are three issues with the car that make it dangerous to drive. When it's sunny, the plastic covering the instrument panel (on the bottom left and right) reflects sunlight back into the drivers eyes. The molding surrounding the gear shifter is metallic looking and also reflects light back into the drivers eyes. The top of the windshield is not tinted and makes the reflection worse. Also the visor can't be used because it hits the rear view mirror when moved.

2 Interior Rearview Mirror problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated when ever the drivers side visor was used it would either move close to the rear view mirror. The contact did not notify the dealer of the failure. The contact was concerned about the safety risk if the failure occurred while driving. The failure and current mileage was 200.

3 Interior Rearview Mirror problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/26/2009

The passage side rear view mirror fell of the 2008 Ford Escape. Ford dealer said the motor that the mirror snaps into is broken and not covered under warranty. The motor is not broken and in fact the motor and mirror were redesigned to correct the safety defect. Ford contends that the mirror and motor that holds the mirror are not defective.

4 Interior Rearview Mirror problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/15/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Escape. While driving 55 mph, the contact heard a loud noise. Immediately following, the rearview mirror shattered into pieces. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they estimated that it would cost $700 to replace the rearview glass. The rear passenger had glass stuck in his skin and the contact received a minor cut. The failure and current mileages were 99,000.
