2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2024

A recall was issued for an intermittent failure of the transmission speed sensor (oss), campaign 16s19. I took the truck to a Ford dealership, mike reichenbach Ford, in florence SC. The technician reprogrammed the pcm. This did not resolve the issue and the truck continues to downshift or not shift at all. I spoke with the dealership and with the Ford motor company. I believe this truck was taken to a dealership more than once without the issue being resolved. I am respectfully request Ford make good on the safety recall of a known issue.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2022

Hello, I purchased this Ford f150 new 12-2011. It was taken into in a Ford dealership for service/repairs from 1-x-2020 to pick up date of 2-x-2020 with 112,xxx miles on odometer. I have the original receipt listing the work. Noted on my receipt is "c/s trans slips at random". The dealership completed, as noted on my invoice, "perform recall 19s19 powertrain control module reprograming" and (second line item), " perform recall 19s19 pcm reprogram clear code4s". The transmission periodically shifted hard/slip after this re program, and eventually went into low gear (2022) without any driver command while on a highway, towing a loaded trailer in which I had to immediately pull onto the shoulder/shut off the vehicle. Restarted, and it functioned as expected. The last time it went into limp mode was while driving, luckily around 35mph, and was towed into a Ford dealership 11-2022 and where it currently resides. With the latest service they "re-flashed" the pcm 11-2022 and asked why a second re-flash" was told it was a "new software update". I asked that the core problem be fixed, a lead frame transmission component and was told it was covered under a Ford program "oasis". A few weeks later was told "not covered" and cost would be on me. The part is now on national backorder with "18,000 on back order, no estimate of ship date" per Ford dealer emp. This week. My truck "possibly" may be driven and service tech implied as much, since the second re-flash, having been told that "a mechanic drove it and it didn't malfunction" but I requested that the root problem (lead frame trans component) be fixed so the transmission doesn't go into low gear at highway speeds, towing. I feel it it an inherent danger to myself and others on the roads and I am concerned it may downshift into low gear at higher speeds until the proper repair can be completed. 19s07 https://static. 4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2021

I I took this vehicle to Ford of dalton, georgia because there is a safety recall on the pcm and transmision that will suddenly downshift into 1st gear while going down the road. Customer service manager stated that it would cost me $140 dollars to diagnose the problem, and if the problem was the molded lead frame in the transmission that communicates with the output shaft sensor, that it would not be covered by the recall or warranty. This contradicts what the recall states. I shouldnt be charged $140 dollars for them to diagnose a recall. . This is on a 2011 Ford F-150.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 30-50 mph, the vehicle downshifted into first gear. The speed odometer was inoperable and the vehicle failed to shift into gears. The all wheel drive warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the pcm was re-flashed and the contact was informed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 124,000.

6 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2019

I had recall 19s07 completed with the pcm flashed a month ago. Right after it was flashed I had extremely hard shifting from 1st to 2nd and a hard down shift from 4th-3rd, during take off and slow down. I called the dealer immediately and was told top bring it back in because the flash was corrupt and they needed to re-flash the truck. I did that and after the re-flash, the hard shifting was still there, not as often, from 1st - 2nd but at least happening at 3 take offs when driving. This continued to the current day. I was told to drive the truck for two weeks for the computer to re-learn my driving habits. Now mind you the truck drove fine prior to having this fsa pcm flash done. I took it in because the danger of having the truck go from 6th to 1st gear at 70mph is high. Now yesterday (11/20/2019) I took off from a stop light (hard shifting still happening), just reached 55mph (in motion) when the truck went from being in 5th/6th gear down to 3rd gear. Immediately the wrench light came on, my mileage display disappeared, and the truck would not leave 3rd gear. I drove slowly to a gas station and turned the vehicle off. This is exact signs of the molded lead frame and the dealer confirmed that with codes. There is a fsa 19n01 that is to replace the lead frame/ however, my truck now has 174,000 miles and 19n01 is covered to 150,000 only and Ford will not honor the lead frame to be replaced. Back to my original issue, is the bad shifting of this truck did not begin until I had fsa 19s07 and the system flash. So that lead to the lead frame and speed sensors failing. Both fsa's are for the abrupt downshift possibility, and 19n01 came out after 19s07. Coincidence,? I do not think so. Ford needs to honor the warranty repair of the lead frame by the dealer. Please help before accident's happen.

7 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

Currently my truck is under a safety recall to update the new software on pcm for intermittent down shifts at any speed. Also there is a molded leadframe warranty extension. I'm thankful I haven't experienced the downshift to 1st. But have noticed it down shifts on highway from 6th to 5th to 4th and back up. Also hesitates violently when trying to pass or accelerate. Laird nollerf3ord in lawrence,KS is doing update on pcm Monday sept 16th. My VIN is included, but they say they have to do a diagnostic and can only replace leadframe if certain codes are related. I personally think the transmission moulded leadframe should be replaced and than update pcm after. From what I read the sensors are the problem regardless of the software update. If my VIN is on the field service recall and the safety recall. Both should be done free of charge parts and labor. Regardless of the codes. Its Fords fuck up. And many more accidents will happen if this isn't made a priority. I'm seriously scared to drive on the highway knowing anytime it could downshift into 1st gear. I read reports even after the update still have same problems. It's the leadframe people. I'll see how the software update Monday effects the performance of my 5. 0. Fingers crossed.

8 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving at low speeds, the rear wheels seized. The vehicle was taken to an unknown Ford dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle may have downshifted during the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). The failure mileage was 108,642.

9 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

My 2011 Ford f150 lariat 5. 0l has 100,000 miles at which time I began having issues with erratic transmission shifting. T has happened multiple times both at high speeds and low speeds. Truck will downshift and transmission jumps all over the place. Very scary and very unsafe. I was able to get the error code which was p0720 output shaft speed sensor circuit. I checked my VIN and did not find any recalls associated with my truck. I called multiple Ford dealers who told me the same thing. I searched the internet and read on edmonds. Com, cars. Com, and NHTSA that Ford has a recall effecting 2011 Ford f150s with the 6r80 transmission built between Aug 19th, 2011 and March 09, 2012. Mine was built with the 6r80 transmission with a build date of Sep 6th, 2011. Based on what I read and the similar issues with the recall I find it hard to believe my truck is not included. I cannot safely drive so I called Ford customer care and opened case# caf15213386. I then took my truck to a Ford dealer to have the fix applied which was to update the powertrain control module software costing me $180. I was then told this would not solve my problem. To solve my problem I needed to replace my lead frame which would cost $1300 but they can't get me in until next week. The recall notice I read indicated the pcm software would be no cost under the recall and if code presented itself Ford would provide a one time replacement of the lead frame at no charge within 10 years or 150,000 miles. Please investigate to see why my truck is not included in this recall. I will have the work done and save my receipts in hopes that I will be reimbursed after this case and Ford case are resolved.

10 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2018

Our Ford f150 has manifested several dangerous factory malfunctions as other vehicles with the same make, model and year. There are at least 4 Ford recalls / customer satisfaction program extensions that our truck should be entitled to but isnt. We need help with getting Ford to cover the cost of repairing our vehicle under at least one of the following recalls: recall number 16v24800 power train automatic transmission recall number 11v582000 power train automatic transmission recall number 12v190000 power train: auto trans: control module (tcm, pcm) recall number 10v659000 structure body (internal short / fire hazard) customer satisfaction program warrantee extension 16s19 we are forced to keep our truck off the road until we can afford a few thousand to replace the powertrain control module software, lead frame and possibly transmission. The truck spontaneously shifts into lower gears when driving at about 20-55 miles per hour. This causes the truck to hesitate in the middle of the road when driving. It simultaneously makes a honk sound. There were a few occasions where the truck shifted into park when I hit the breaks or it shifted into reverse when I intended to go into drive. Clearly issues with the transmission and the vacuum pump pose serious safety hazards to our family and other people. We would greatly appreciate help in getting Ford to extend some of the manufacture warrantees and recalls to our Ford f150 so that we could return to using our family/work truck safely. We thank you in advance for any good advice or help that you may have to offer.

11 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2017

2011 Ford F-150 XLT supercrew 4x2. I was operating the vehicle in normal conditions earlier this week and noticed that the vehicle was not accelerating after pushing on the gas pedal. I had noticed this very intermittently over the past several months, but this issue was constant. There were no warning indicators, but when attempting to accelerate the pu seemed to be operating at about 30-40% of the expected performance level. I took into the Ford service dealer, northside Ford, and they mentioned it might be the pcm but they needed to start by replacing the O2 downstream sensor. They replaced the O2 downstream sensor and re-tested and it them indicated that the pcm needed to be replaced. The vehicle only has 112,500 miles so it seems odd that there was a recall (12v190000) but my vehicle was not included and it seems to be exhibiting similar problems. I would like to see if someone can look into the issue as I believe it has a similarities to the previous recalls.
