5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

2011 Ford f150 traveling at 65 mph straight down the highway the transmission seemed to slip out of gear and then down shifted to first gear causing the wheels locked up and loss control of the truck and ran off the road into a dry ditch. Research show a safety recall for this exact problem. Safety recall notice16s19/NHTSA recall16v-248. Ford motor company say my vehicle is not covered in this recall. Also Fords info for this recall states that 2011 f150 built at dearborn plant between the dates of February 11 2011 to September 8 2012 are covered in this recall. My vehicle falls into this category but is not covered. If I were to have been on a heavily traveled road this could have cause a serious accident.

6 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2017

Jan. 27, 2017 we were pulling away from a stop light got to around 40 mph and the vehicle down shifted out of gear making a lot of noise and started bucking. We could hardly get it to the side of the road as it would hardly move. We had not had any issues before this. It was not drivable. We had it towed to the local Ford dealership. In regard to recall 16s19 and 16n02, the vehicle did exactly what the recall stated in regard to the downshifting however as per the mechanic who repaired, this issue could have been the reason the planetary gears went out as well and we had to replace the transmission at considerable cost. Ford service indicated it would take at least a week to two weeks for repair as there were other transmission jobs in front of ours at both dealerships. We made the decision to have it towed to another transmission repair shop as we could not be without our vehicle for up to two weeks. Ford is now refusing to help pay for repairs/replacement since repairs were not done at a Ford certified repair shop. We even kept the transmission for Ford to take a look at in regard to this recall. . . They weren't interested. This vehicle has only 104,000 miles, this should not have happened.

7 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

Transmission lead frame needed to be replaced, however, was not included as part of the recall of 2011 F-150 lead frame. Apparently, the transmission "number" is different from the recalled version, however, since one transmission was recalled, not sure why all 2011 models were not included in the recall. We were forced to incur out of pocket costs which would have been covered in a recall. While driving vehicle, service engine light appeared and the transmission temperature appeared on the dash screen. Truck would not shift out of 5th gear and had to be towed to dealer who replaced lead frame.

8 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

On 3 occasions the transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. Two of these occurred when pulling onto a 50mph roadway. I was able to pull to the side of the road, turn off the truck and restart the truck. The transmission worked properly after that. On the most recent occasion I had been slowed down by an accident on the freeway. After clearing the accident I accelerated to get up to freeway speed but could not go over apx. 20 mph because the transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. I was in the middle lane and could not get to the side of the road to shut off and restart the truck. After shifting to first gear manually (auto transmission) I was able to manually shift the automatic transmission through the gears and had normal transmission operation after that.
