1 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2017

Nhtsa campaign #16v248000 . . . . While driving on the highway, the transmission abruptly downshifts. The rpms will then begin fluctuating up and down causing the vehicle to shudder and lurch. The transmission then begins to slip around. The indicator shows it bouncing from 2 to 6 to 1. I took it to a shop and they hooked it up to check the sensors and it came back that the solenoids were stuck. They reset the sensors, but the symptoms began again not more than 2 miles down the road.

2 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

On 11/25/17 I was travelling on the highway at approximately 65 mph and the truck started bucking and downshifting. I was able to safely pull off at the next exit and park the truck and had to have it towed to a trusted repair shop. The truck was still bucking fairly violently even at slow speeds while I was trying to park it. The truck would also not shift into reverse. Repairs were performed and a transmission shift solenoid and harness was found to be faulty.

3 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

My transmission is not considered in the recall of other similar models. I have spent $2,000 to fix this issue that is already identified as an issue. When the company should be replacing the defective parts. Transmission solenoid have been replaced now the lead frame failure issue along with the codes identified in other recalls.

4 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

At 68,000 miles while driving 65 mph the truck goes from 6th gear to 2nd cause the truck to shutter and jerk at a high rate of speed and loss of control in rush hour traffic. The rpm's spike to 7000 as the truck tries to get back into gear. I also experienced going from 1st gear to 5th gear while starting out leaving me stuck out in traffic because it doesnt have the rpm's to get into 5th gear. After the 1st experience of this happening I took my truck to the west herr Ford dealer where I bought it. The service department couldnt duplicate the problem so there was nothing they could do. Over he next month this happened several more times this time with the kids in the truck so I took it back to the dealer however this time I was able to capture a video of my instrument panel when it went from 6 to 2. The dealer agreed there was a problem but couldnt duplicate it so nothing they could do. I took it to another Ford dealer who sent my video to the factory. The factory indicated they have never seen the problem. There recommendation was to go part by part and no guarantee of the problem being fixed. I took my truck to a transmission shop and they indicated that there is a known problem with the 2011 Ford transmissions. I had to have the transmission rebuilt as a result of the dropping gears. The solenoid in the valve body was defective causing the transmission to have gears jump. After getting the truck back I experienced the same problem. As it turns out the replacement solenoid from Ford was faulty requiring it to be replaced.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2014

The eco boost v 6 motor started missing under acceleration causing massive loss of power on the highway. Took the truck to friendly Ford in springfield missouri for immediate repairs. They admitted the cause was a design flaw on the inter cooler which in turn caused failure of three solenoids to fail. July 2013 I was accelerating onto highway and the miss fire happened again and did not quit until I pulled off the road and turned the motor off and then restarted the engine. The service rep at the Ford dealer reported the problem was extremely common and suspected a recall was coming. I asked him why Ford was not standing behind the obvious and dangerous design flaw and he said he thought they would have to eventually due to the magnitude of the problem. . I was charged $620. 51 to correct very dangerous problems directly related to a Ford design problem.
