1 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2020

There is a major problem with the driveshaft. It's coating wears off which causes it to get into a bind when you come to a stop or from a start. Feels like it is hung up in between gears. Ford recalled f150 raptor and fixed it but the regular f150 they didn't recall and it has the same driveshaft. There are numerous videos on youtube call the slip yoke clunk if you need to see what it is doing.

2 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Good morning,I have a 2011 f150 that is have a serious problem I would like to have resolved while driving the truck will down shift from 6th to 2nd at 70 miles per hour. It also will lose power and rear wheels will lock up. When coming to a stop and start again the truck makes a loud bang that feels like the drive shaft and trans. Are separating. While driving mph will go to 0 miles ph. And a tool will display on the dash. My truck has 187k on it and have been told that Ford will not fix the issue due to mileage I would hope that Ford cares more about my family's safety than the 37k miles past the warranty. This is a well known problem that needs to be fixed, Ford I hope you will fix my truck. It has already had the tps done didnt help,I need my truck for work and cant afford to get another at this time. Help!!!!! ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

3 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

Clunky transmission at start of acceleration and when coming to a stop. Happened at about 40k miles. Under warranty dealer removed drive shaft and greased splines. Same thing happened at 90k miles. This led to total transmission failure at 92k miles when the sealed transmission began to lose ability to properly downshift. Transmission had developed leakduring long trip which was not detectable. Transmission temperature read normal throughout the driving even when trans failed. Vehicle service on transmission is not until 150k miles and vehicle has no dip stick to check level or quality of fluid. Now I'm stuck with a $5k bill to replace transmission with a rebuilt unit. I get that it is no longer under warranty but a design that has no way to check fluid and a design that requires greasing the drive shaft spline to stop binding of shaft to transmission should not be allowed with no recourse for the consumer.

4 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle downshifted into first gear and the driveshaft was on the floor. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the driveshaft was replaced. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist to have the transmission replaced. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train) in March of 2019. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,887.

5 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

On 12 January 2017 when returning from a normal oil change and tire rotation at a dealership the operator heard what sounded like marbles in a coffee can coming from the transmission and the vehicle experienced erratic shifts and loss of power. These conditions were reported to and noted by the dealership's receptionist to be followed up on the next morning. On 13 January 2017 on the commute to work when accelerating from a stoplight on a city thoroughfare the vehicle downshifted abruptly from a high gear and shuddered to a halt in the middle of the roadway. The incident was so dramatic that the operator had assumed the driveshaft had been lost. The operator limped the vehicle into a nearby parking lot where the dashboard showed various warnings (see exhibit 1) and a towing company was called to transport the vehicle to the dealership. The vehicle had approximately 89,000 miles and the weather was sunny and 42 f on 13 January 2017. The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal failure by using codes p0763, p0764, and p0979, along with removing the transmission pan which showed fine metallic shavings (see exhibit 2); the transmission was replaced by the dealership. This transmission issue was fortunate to not have resulted in any injuries or additional damages which could have easily occurred.

6 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

When putting truck in reverse after going forward or put in forward after backing up, clunk or chirp noise from under vehicle. Could be driveshaft or rear. Waiting for warranty servce.

7 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

Transmission has been ongoing problem since 7/2012. When driving away from certain situations, transmission will slam into 2nd gear. Local dealer has replaced shims in rear suspension, new driveshaft, major and minor transmission parts, reprogrammed computer, etc. , all to no avail. Parting words from the dealer were always "give the computer 500 miles to settle in and all will be good" never happened, transmission still slams into second and pushing 140,000 miles now. Have even written letters to Ford motor company about this. Took truck into dealer per their recommend and not fixed. Feel I will need to drive the truck into the ground as can't think anybody would want to buy it like this. Would also think twice about buying another Ford truck.

8 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2012

I bought this vehicle 12/2011 with 19,800 miles on it (it was manf. 12/2010, sold in orlando,FL in 01/2011 and traded in 10/2011 and was used as a rental truck) as a certified pre-owned (cpo) from maroone Ford margate FL. There was a problem that when I was driving at a low speed <5mph the shift between 1-2 would sometimes be real hard (engine @ 3000rpm+) so this dealer checked and 'fixed' it with greasing the 2 part drive shaft. They told me that the wrong grease was used when the vehicle was built and needed to use a new grease. This happened again around the end of 2012(around 35k miles) and maroone Ford miami 'fixed' it again by greasing the drive shaft. Now it is happening again (8/2013) and this time they did not find anything wrong. It still happens and I am going to take my vehicle to a different dealership that is not maroone/autonation and see if they can 'fix' my problem. Also I am reading that now I am having problems with the drivers side lights rapid flashing but not the pass side or when the hazards are on so I googled and it seems that there are problems with the bcm (body control module) and that I have found is behind the drivers side rear seats on a super crew. The dealership (maroone/autonation) had not done anything to check if my vehicle was on a recall as far as I know and now I have to go to another dealership and also bring this up (and I doubt they would even know about it either). I was told by maroone/autonation that if anything is found to let them know. What? I have to pay to let their techs know their job? Ford should never have done a 2 piece driver shaft with a slip yoke or quit with things like the mechanical flasher relays even with pwm/canbus. This now becomes expensive to fix and not everyone is going to go out and buy a new vehicle. Next time will be a Toyota because they are driven in the deserts around the world, not Fords.

9 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2011

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated the vehicle began to vibrate while driving 35 mph. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated the driveshaft was not angled properly. The contact was concerned since the failure was a safety issue. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 1,647 and the current mileage was 2,000.
