On two seperate occasions within the last two years, I have had two firestone tires cause damage to my vehicle via complete blow out and seperation. I am one of the fortunate ones that are hear to tell of my near catastrophes involving firestone tires. Farmer insurance repaired my vehicle the first time and sent the blown tire ( what was left ) to firestone and a letter was sent to farmers indicating that low tire pressure was the cause. The second tire was seperated in March of 02 and once again damaged my vehicle. Once again, I received the responce back. It was the same old story. Improper air pressure. My vehicle is driven an average of 700 miles per week. My tires are maintained by flyin j truck centers and my air pressure is documented frequently as required. I am under the belief that insufficient air pressure is the standard answer given by firestone to neglect compensation for damages which occur by their faulty tires. This trend is very alarming and I am hoping that your department can get involved into a resolution. I am very disturbed because first of all, firestone is able to inspect their own tires with no independant agency overseeing the process. Also having a paralegal on staff to sign the documents so the general public is thwarted from responding. I will be happy to forward via fax, all documentation regarding this matter. I have contacted all agencies including, fox news, nevada attorney general, private council, senators harry reid and john ensign, and the u. S. Dept. Of transportation. I am not going to stop my campaign until firestone stands up and takes the responcibility for the damages due to faulty workmanship of their tires. I believe firestone intends to see if this issue gets swept under the carpet. Please advise me of your receipt of this complaint and a fax number where I can forward any correspondence. Thank you for your attention in this matter and I will wait to hear back.
Firestone steel tex tires r4s lt235/85r16, dot vdortwc415; while traveling in a Ford, f250 vehicle at 60mph consumer heard a loud explosion. Pulled vehicle over and noticed tire had a blowout which caused damage to wheel well. Damage was done to the quarter panel and wheel well, the steel braid pulled tailpipe forward damaging the pipes and wheel housing, consumer was informed that these tires were not included in the recall.
While driving at 60mph, front right firestone steeltex r4s tire blewout. Dealer couldn't find a reason for this happening, tire size p26575r16, dot# vnw818m070.
While driving down the freeway at 70 mph I heard a loud pop pop pop as I confirmed it was my vehicle and proceeded to the right lane and to the shoulder of the road the left rear tire blew out causing the vehicle to fishtail . I was able to maintain control and stop safely . The firestone tire has a tread seperation idenical to the firestone tires on the eord explorers . I am concerned that these seperation problem on firestone tires are simialar to those in the '70,s and that they are limited too one size or model. (dot number: vdw81xm tiresize: lt26575r16).
We were traveling on the interstate at about 70 mph. Without warning the left rear tire blew out. The side wall separated from the tread around the total circumfrance of the tire. (dot number: bm14974 tiresize: lt26575r16).
This vehicle has experienced two (2) sudden and unexpected tire blowouts at high speed. The tires have been well maintained and had proper inflation at the time of failure. The most recent failure occurred with the right front tire at 70 mph just as I was approaching a bridge which nearly caused me to impact bridge abuttment/railing. Blown tire was inspected by firestone dealer and dealer suspects tread seperation. I have kept tire for future inspections. Over the last 15 years I have driven approx. 40,000 miles per year on 16 inch non-firestone light truck tires and I have never experienced a blow-out of a tire as I have with these tires. (dot number: vnw81xl248 tiresize: lt26575r16).
The tires have blown while driving on highways. The clutch problem is a recurring one. 3 to 4 times a day the clutch pedal stays at the bottom of the travel distance or only comes half-way back up. The transmission also does not shift smoothly. (tiresize: lt23585r16)( dot number: tire size: lt23585r16 ).
The tire blewout on the freeway. Upon inspection it appeared to be no reason for the blowout other than tire failure. The sidewall at the tread line was completely seperated all the way around on the outside of the tire. I have pictures of the tire. Firestone would only honor the original warranty on this one tire. It was replaced at a prorated price with the same model. ( dot number: vnw8 1xl tire size: lt26575r16 ).
The tire blew at 55 mph. No accident, damage, or injuries resulted in the incident eventhough the tire was on the left front. (dot number: vnw81xm079 tiresize: 265/75r16).
The tire blew out and the blow out was located at the inside sidewall, there was absolutely no holes that could be found. We brought the tire into firestone and was told that they would find a hole because these tires don't just blow. I was also told on the phone that I was very lucky that I had such a heavy duty vehicle, otherwise the vehicle would have rolled. Just appalling to hear something like that from a person that works at the firestone store. Especially because there is recalls happening now. We asked if this particular tire was being recalled, but was told "no". We ended up buying another tire and they prorated the rate. (tiresize: 26575r16)( dot number: tire size: 26575r16 ).

Tire blew out and seperated at seam and treads. (tiresize: 16)( dot number: tire size: 16 ).
We first had the front brakes pull right we had the truck in 2-3 times for that problem they finally fixed it. But now the brakes pull left. They do not know how to fix the problem. The engine/electrial problem. All of the sudden everything electical quits working. I didn't know how to classify this problem. They replace a module and it still happens. We are awaiting for them to fix again. On the tires one blew out in the middle of the night on a very dark road 1 mile from the house my husbad drove it home took it in the next day and the refused to fix because he drove on it. Approx a month later we were on a road driving only approx 45 mph. My husband felt something when we were at a light,we pulled in to a store just passed the light got out and the back right tire had blown. We changed the tire took it in and they said they are not on a recall even through they clearly had the white ring all around the tire where it had come apart. We replaced the tires with cooper tires. We still have the tires. Goodyear inspected and agreed it was due to poor manufacturing. On the warranty problems we contacted the manufacture arbitration board. They stated since we use the truck for business we can not have the truck replaced. No where in any of my documentation states that. If this were so we would not have bought the truck. The dealership knew we used the truck for business. The business consist of a handyman business. The most we do to the truck is put on miles. (dot number: vnw81xl tiresize: 265 75r16).
On 8/26/2000 about 5:10 pm, I was driving southbound on the I-15 between barstow, CA and baker, CA with cruise control set to 70 mph when the front drivers side tire blew out. I felt the vehicle pull heavily to the right. I could not regain control of the steering. In addition, cruise control would not disengage when the brake pedal was tapped or stepped on heavily. I could not control the vehicle in any way. The vehicle. (tiresize: 3514. 516. 5)( dot number: tire size: 3514. 516. 5 ).
