37 Tire problem of the 2004 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

This is the 8th separation out of 11 tires they have all happened after about 2 hours of highway driving this one blow and caused about 2300 dollars of damage to my truck not including the tire 3 miles south of iola kansas coming from independence missouri it gave about 3 to 5 seconds of bobble and as I applied the brakes to pull over it blew. This caused the truck to go into the on coming traffic and I was just able to get control of the truck and get it off the road. Bf goodich claim there is not a problem with this tire but I have discovered why they say that. This size of tire usually is purchased for jeeps and small pickup weighing 3000 to 4000 pounds but is rated for e load when you used the tire on a lighter vehicle it does not heat up but my pickup is 9000 lbs. Before this last trip I had costco check the tires and air pressure the day before the trip and I checked them on the day of the trip. So I know they were air to the required pressure. I believe the tire must be recalled and load rated no high than c.

Driving texas highway 183 near bertram TX, rf drivers side bf goodrich baja champion truck tire exploded causing vehicle to serve into oncoming traffic, I recovered. Tire exploded with great force causing the outer tread to dislodge causing 4000 dollars damage to f250. The tire spilt into two exposing the wire steel belts. The belts look as of they were ripped apart similar to ied explosions experienced in persian gulf. It was cool that Saturday in the mid to upper 80's. Almost killed me as the vehicle fell to the rim immediately after catastrophic failure.

41 Tire problem of the 2004 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

While driving west bound on interstate highway 80 east of imlay, nv at approximately 70 mph in lane #2, the left rear tire lost about 80-85% of it's tread in about 10 seconds, extensively damaging the underside wheel well area near the tire and the body of the vehicle. Control of the vehicle was never lost, although there was veering from side to side and violent loud banging as the tread pieces were hitting the vehicle. The remaining tire carcass did not lose air pressure, and we managed to safely come to a stop on the right highway shoulder. After stopping and determining the extent of damage to the vehicle and that the tire was not flat, we slowly drove about one mile to the next exit, left the highway and changed the tire. The 4 tires had all been properly inflated and had about 11,045 miles on them since all four were purchased in 2012. The tires are b f goodrich, lt265 / 75r16, "rugged terrain t/a". The vehicle is a 2004 Ford F-250 super cab 4x4 pickup truck.

42 Tire problem of the 1991 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Fortunately the tire came apart while lying in the back of my pick up truck. I was using it as a winter time spare. The tire was not in use at the time of the separation of the tire layers. I have 2 of them and are the ones I use for summer time driving. Tread is about 50%. The tire burst from the inside of the tire ripping away the tread and leaving the center of the tire exposed with the cords exposed and inner layer of tire exposed. I do still have the tire and will keep for a short time in case it is needed for inspection. I also have pictures of the tire.

44 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

Have had 2 sets of bfgoodrich 285/75/16 122r d tires that have failed with separation problems. The first set that failed 05/11, we had blowout accident on interstate causing over $3000 damage to driver front. Luckily no personal injuries bf goodrich replaced the tires at 100%, same tires. The second set have same separation problems as of 03/15, at approx. 30000 miles on 60000 mile tires. The tire kingdom store advised unsafe to drive and said these tires were manufactured at same time the recalls were. He called the recall# and was advised to replace at 100% so we replaced them with the micheline 285's. Now we are being told the bf goodrich recall office will only pay 70% on the new tires. That is unacceptable for this serious defect in these tires. It does appear the warranty doesn't really address manufacturer defects. This defect is not due to wear, tear or consumer fault. Had the defect not been in the tire, the tires would still be in good working order without danger of failure that occurred. We feel these tires are unsafe and we have asked bfgoodrich to replace with different tire at 100% since we do not feel we should be responsible for what appears to be manufacturer defect.

45 Tire problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/19/2015

Traveling southbound on florida turnpike towing 5th wheel trailer, right lane, 65mph, 80psi tire pressure checked before departure. Had traveled approx 50 miles when tread partially separated from right front tire. No loss of tire pressure, which allowed safely steering off highway. Tread remaining on tire did extensive damage to rf fender and custom fiberglas running board/ wheel flare. Fender bottom pushed back and damaged rf door. Second tread failure from same set of tires in four months. Already a recall on same model, other size tires we found online today.

52 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

Today I replaced the second tire from a set of four lt275/70r18e1 bfg commercial t/a a/s tires purchased on November 23, 2010. Both tires were replaced with less than 30,000 miles of wear because of tread separation. Fortunately, in both cases the issue was discovered before catastrophic failure. The separation events happened about 3,000 miles apart. Because of the dangers of tread separation, I went ahead and replaced the other two tires on the vehicle. Because those two tires were not currently exhibiting signs of separation, the tire service company was not able to obtain any warranty proration. I complained in writing to the manufacturer and asked for a full replacement set. I received a reply that basically said for me to work with the tire service company and that the only thing they would agree to would be a proration. This response is totally unacceptable as it is my understanding that tread separation is the result of a manufacturing defect, and since two out of the four tires from the same set exhibited this defect it is highly probable that it was merely a matter of time before the other two exhibited the defect as well. I also found the response to be totally unacceptable because this company has a recall in place for similar tires and therefore should be fully aware of the safety implications.

56 Tire problem of the 2011 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

I have a 2011 Ford f250 super duty 28,000 miles, the vehicle is equipped with michelin lt275/65r20 tires. I recently noticed stress cracks alone the inner wall near the rim on all 4 tires. There is also cracks around the upper portion of the tire around the tread. Through research I have located a safety recall for these tires but in the size of lt 275/55r20. I have contacted michelin and was told to purchase new tires ( $330 x 4 ) and send these tires to them for inspection. There is a possiability of a proration but no guarantee. As in the posted safety recall this has the potential to have a partial or full loss of air making this a huge safety concern.

This past Friday I was towing a trailer and had another separate and before I could get stopped it blew out also. Fortunately it was on the back and I managed to get the truck and trailer stopped safely. Not sure I could have done this had it been on the front. Tires were aired properly that morning also. Ripped my right rear fender up also. Two of the same tires purchased at the same time separated within a month of each other.

60 Tire problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

I filed a claim with michelin north America, inc (michelin), that was denied, for damages in excess of $3,000. 00 incurred by my personal vehicle resulting from the complete tread detachment of a uniroyal laredo tire (dot# bfw8feuu4107), after 13,586 miles. Detachment occurred at highway speed (65mph) with proper inflation pressure, checked prior to beginning of travel. Prior to complete tread detachment, the subject tire was repaired for damage incurred by a common road hazard (I. E. , a nail puncture). This, the tire?s only, repair was performed by a reputable service center in accordance with guidelines set by us department of transportation. Michelin does not call into question tire repair as the causal factor. Rather, michelin asserts that their inspection of the tire indicates tread detachment resulted from tire damage caused by the puncture. And, ?evidence of this is found when tracing the steel cord path from the puncture/repair to the initial detached area?. Michelin feels they are not responsible for any damages. I challenge michelin?s denial based on (1) michelin?s admission that the ?initial detached area? occurred at some distance from the repair/puncture; (2) michelin has a history of tire recalls pertaining to defects and potential tread detachment of similar tires; and (3) the subject tire was manufactured during a period bounded by two laredo tire recalls, due to the potential for tread detachment: ?September 2004, uniroyal voluntary recall of 46,000 tires due to possible tread/belt detachment. ?July 2012, national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA #12t-019) recall of approximately 800,000 uniroyal tires, due to possible tread belt separation. Further, a modicum of research clearly indicates that insufficient tire bonding and other manufacturer defects are the most frequent cause of tread detachment. Therefore, I would suspect complete tread detachment would result from a preexisting tire defect, rather than a nail puncture.

70 Tire problem of the 2004 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/27/2012

Tire failure. B f goodrich uuf212210. I had 2 of the tire fail in June 2012. I had the other 2 tire examined and were said to be good. The 3rd tire failed in September causing my truck to leave the hi way trotaling out the travel trailre I was towing to roll over and totaled out. B f goodrich denied my claim saying it was caused by a road hazzard. I never hit anything in any of the tire failures. I have the tire and photos of the other 2 tires that had belt failures. I do not believe in coincidence. I believe that the entire set of tires were defwective and that b f good rich is trying to cover it up. I believe that an investigation is in order.
